Caleyboy forgetting the benifits a loan to the Highland League can do to a player? Look at Graeme Shinnie. Went out to Forres pretty much as soon as he left the youth ranks, now look where he is, moved to a club that is highly favoured to go up to the Premier League and has 5 Scotland Caps under his belt.

I highly doubt, had he not gone on loan, he'd be bored out of his mind with no game time, and end up not being probably one of our best (if not the best) academy product...

Early loans are the best time to challenge players and make themselves ready for the jump into big boy football, otherwise, if it goes wrong, they could fail miserably and then the player is stuck going nowhere for the rest of his career...

and did we give Forres exposure on this forum? No.

According to his Wikipedia page he was born in Prince George, BC (sod knows where that is), then lived in Vancouver before moving to Middlesbrough then heading to Inverness where he went to Millburn...apparently his parents were English, but IIRC, you can play for a country through the birth place of you, your parents or your grandparents...

    thanks for the clarification

Whew!    Caleyboy, not a very positive attitude.

Our boys are playing for  the Fort and all fans should encourage them or other smaller teams to forge on, always trying;  whether to  improve or win matches  it makes no difference. How do young players get experience if they aren't playing games anywhere they can get the nod knowing that our team is encouraging them.?

you have a completely missed my point.

    Sorry

I believe at least 2 to 3 players from our youth will kick a ball for our team.

Jack Brown, Fyffe, Machiado, Daniel etc.

This is developing local players for our team or for their benefit. We are a sports team if developing our local youth and supporting our community isn't what we do then support man city?

I'm sure others could call out more.

for a start Machiado and Daniel do not play for Fort William. Second, I fully support Youth Dev so I will politely ask you to pull your neck in. My point is simple. This is not the first time we have put players out on loan to SHFL teams but we have never given those teams exposure on this particular forum! Will we in the future?

A bit of game time at a decent level - this can only benefit the young players, and hopefully ICT.

Seem to remember a young nonentity being farmed out to Forfar  a few years back for a bit of match experience and coming back as the great Barry Robson!

aye the young Barry had his head up his ar.. but came back a mature laddie and a very valuable player.

One of the directors has said that it breaches the rules for sponsor size and they've had to order new shirts for the players.  Replica shirts will not be changed though.  They seem to think fans won't notice ?

things just don't change. laughing stock once again. why oh why can't we get such a small detail right first time. fgs we have been doing it for 25 years!!! ?

Pretty much. Either until their loan expires or, unlikely, their recall. Reason why I'm saying unlikely is unless we've got an injury crisis and we desperately need players, they'll be staying there and giving Fort William some wins...

don't know about getting some wins as they will find a big difference playing senior football. good experience for them and I hope they develope their game so that they come back to us.

One of my funniest memories is the game where the team consisted of a Dodo, Gogo, Coco, Tommo, Jojo, Johndo and Robbo. Lets just say that Mr Beaton was tongue tied and entertaining - until he ran out of expletives and gave up  !!!

That's because the lot of you were no f...... use?

  10. Former ICT youth coach, Caley manager and Inverness youth football stalwart John Beaton died today. I think he would have been 71/72. Sad news, football was his life. RIP.
