We could certainly try to negotiate such a clause but I doubt very much that the purchasing club, in Ryan's case Celtic, would accept it.

Especially as in almost every case the purchasing club intends to be bigger, wealthier and thus in a better negotiating position, than the selling club.

I agree entirely, Celtic would be crazy paying any fee to ICT for a player moving out of contract. I feel we have lost out on this one but an out of contract Ryan can negotiate better terms for himself. Pity, but that's the football world

I'm talking about the contracts negotiated between the clubs.  With a decent sell on clause, the original club will still get a payment from the 2nd club if the 2nd club allow the player to leave as a free agent.

Maybe I'm missing something here . Club 1 = ICT. Club 2 = Celtic. Celtic agree sell on clause with ICT of x% of fee they receive for Ryan if they sell him. Ryan runs down contract and becomes free agent. Ryan signs for ? club and Celtic receive no fee. If Celtic do not receive a fee we receive Zero. I stand to be corrected.

A sell on clause could stipulate, say, 10% of the transfer fee but with a minimum to be paid when the player moves on.  So, if 10% of the new transfer fee was less than the minimum, or if the player leaves for free at the end of their, contract then that minimum fee would be payable to us.  That way, we don't lose out as a result of contract negotiations that we have no part in.

Why would a free agent negotiate a sell on clause. What his agent would negotiate would be a % of any future transfer fee to be paid to the player not a club he has had no connection with for years.

On similar lines, I was wondering whether it would be worth trying to sign our young prospects on longer contracts, so that we could get a year or so more out of them after they become good enough to have the spotlight fall on them, or at least pick up more money if they do move on as soon as a bigger club comes calling.

I don't know what length of contract he is on, and what would be accepted by a young player nowadays.  Any ideas?

Just my opinion but I would be giving first year pros 2 year contracts with review after 1 year to extend to 3 years. I would review every year. Their potential should be obvious to coaches during first year. It is our job to ensure they are given every opportunity to make the grade. We will lose some through late development tho.

Not if they choose to run out his contract for a free deal. Might want to try to negotiate a sell on clause with them tho...

If he runs down his contract, neither Celtic or ICT would have any say in his future contract, so I dont see where any "sell on clause " would apply.

I wonder if we will be looking to get cover for Kellacher until he's back as well, not heard anything on his progress but the reduced coaching staff can't have helped with the stress JR was under.

From what I hear I think we should do our best to keep Billy.

Pretty sure Fyffe and Nicolson can both play right back with Fyffe also a centre back. Hyde is a midfielder and Harkness a striker.

Speculation is all very well but unfortunately our Board have a BIG decision to make on our management and coaching team for next season. This is a priority.

If we had won the previous, easier game then all the pressure would not have been on us to make rash tackles and pester the ref. Perhaps Dundee would have been the team losing their cool.

Another season in the abyss perhaps?

I agree and maybe we should be realistic and prepare ourselves for another season in what is probably the hardest league to get out of.

  9. Our attitude should not be in question. Our guys  are fighting for new contracts and more money if they can get to the next level. On our day we can beat any team in this league so it depends on how much our players want it. Here's hoping for 3 points and favourable results elsewhere.

The championship is a great competition but after drawing at queens we may still end up fifth.

Thats why I was pinning my hopes on Dundee losing multiple games.

I think we are now unlikely to get 4th spot.

As I have said before, 5th place would be quite acceptable to me but I dont see us being in a position to strengthen the squad if we stay in this division. I think we now need 9 from 9 to have a chance of going up.

  11. David Carson is the kind of player you want about the place. He wanted to stay and I wouldn't be surprised if he was offered more money from others. Great bit of business by the club and loyalty from the player. Others please take note and hang yer hat in the Highlands!

Has Hughes made any public comment yet?

I see he has made 5 changes for County’s game today which perhaps says a lot, including Donaldson dropping out.

Couldn't give two flyers who he changes or leaves out - we have the bragging rights so nite nite Yogi.

Just skipped through the whole match again, and thoroughly enjoyed all three goals again.  They were all top quality, especially Daniel's  Good after match interviews with Dan, Toddy and Neil. Thought the two pundits, Shelly Kerr and Gary Caldwell were excellent too.

As has been said by many of us, that was a real team performance last night. Can't ask for more than that. Let's hope we can keep it going.

Brilliant performance which MUST take forward to the Morton and QoS games. They are more important. 👏👏

  14. A decent performance and a close score will do me but I would be delighted if we take them. However, the league is priority for us, probably as much as it is for them. Let's see how it goes against our old gaffer. Come on the Caley🎶🎶🎶

  15. Let's be blunt, any non league team should not live with us. Yes they should be given respect but we should play the possession game and run them off their feet. Buckie are/were a good side before shut down so let's hope they are very very rusty

Can he no watch the game at home? He’ll no be at parkhead watching it in the flesh. Irish pundits on the rugby last night watching from home and managed fine.

Why should he watch it from home. His employer will dictate where he watches from. Again, fek all to do with us so give the guy a break. From what I hear, his personality and knowledge is going down well so long may he continue his role with us.
