The new manager thread
Would Justin Edinburgh be a good choice? Done quite well with Newport I believe, and might be someone who could work well with the players we have at the moment. Likes the 4-3-3 formation as well. Bonus points for having a great name.

I noticed. While it is true say, that when done right, the 4-6-0 can work as was showed by the possession-based Spain and the counter-attacking Roma to great effect, what Levein put out was nothing short of a travesty. He set out that Scotland team in an ultra-defensive attempt to keep the score down against what was a rather mediocre Czech side, and was nothing but cowards football. It was a decision that should have resulted in his instant sacking. After reading that, maybe Sheils wouldn't be so bad!

Butcher offski?
I seem to recollect Barnsley offered him four times his wage here, but they didn't want Malpas. We still don't really know why he's taken the Hibs job, but I doubt money is the main reason.

I was meaning Craig Levein. Craig Brown probably doesn't know what day it is anymore!

Craig Brown was after the job when Brewster got it the first time round (I think). A big no from me though.

Here's an idea - Marcelo Bielsa. Now before everyone laughs, hear me out! Bielsa allegedly is not influenced by the size of clubs, and rather goes to clubs that intrigue him (Merger!). He turned down Inter Milan for Athletic Bilbao for this very reason. Out of a job right now. Supposedly, a total hermit, so could move into Terry's old house no problem. Plays an all-out-attack Renegade-esque 3-3-1-3 formation! If you don't ask, you don't get!

Levein would be a mistake IMO.

Supposedly Gus MacPherson and Billy Reid are going to apply for the job. I'd like....eh....neither of those!

MAURICE MALPAS WANTS THE JOB SUNDAY MAIL
No to Malpas for me. His record in his own right stinks.

Butcher offski?
Supposedly people who were in the Hibs hospitality yesterday have been quoted as saying that Butcher was being introduced to people as the "new Hibs manager". He isn't.....yet....officially.

I see Stuart Baxter now manages the big South African team Kaizer Chiefs. Doubt we could afford to pay them off really,

Butcher offski?
Should the compensation deal fall through and the transfer off, what would happen with Butcher? Would he just resign? Surely we can't have a manager, who's essentially admits that he doesn't want to be here?

Barry Wilson - Done well with Wick, but not yet. Maurice Malpas - No. Took a top six Motherwell team to the brink of relegation. Failed miserably at Swindon as well. Good coach/assistant, not a manager. Paul Hartley - Possibly. Done well with Alloa and a fairly big name, but a bit of a weirdo. Craig Levein - No way. John Robertson - No. Barry Ferguson - Possibly. Could be a good choice with an experienced assistant. John Collins - Possibly. Jim Jeffries - No. Duncan Shearer - Sacked by Buckie. No. Jimmy Calderwood - No way. Wouldn't have him if he was the only candidate! Henrik Larsson - Yes. Csaba Laszlo - Possibly, though perhaps wouldn't suit us. He's rather defensively minded. Kevin MacDonald - Yes. George Burley - Yes. Steve Paterson - Yes, IF he's sorted himself out. Richie Foran - Not sure as manager, but yes as assistant. Chris Sutton - Interviewed last time and didn't get it. Failed at Lincoln. No. Charlie Christie - Nice man, but no. Tony Mowbray - Would he come? Probably not, but I'd strongly consider him if he was interested.

Butcher offski?
Does anyone else get the impression there could have been some sort of fall-out in the higher echelons of the club? I know for a fact that it wasn't the money on offer that made him turn down Barnsley, it was the fact that he wouldn't go without Malpas, and Barnsley didn't want him. All of a sudden, he's leaving the club in essentially the position as it was at that time last season, if not better, as we are higher up the league and closer to the top this time round and arguably have an even better chance of getting to a final, and with Celtic already out of the way, a tremendous chance of winning the League Cup. Up until last Sunday, he was on a crest of a wave of popularity, built the club to what he had always wanted it to be and was seeming looking forward to the rest of the season. Remember, after Barnsley he said he'd see out his contract, and after the last County game at the end of last season he said we were going for Europe this year, while constantly praising ICT, the fans and the Highlands in the process. Yet, out of the blue, he leaves. Why? Why would he have put so much in over the last few years, to just throw it all away all of a sudden? It doesn't make any sense. There's been rumblings in the past, that he didn't get on with certain un-named people at the club, and I wonder if something has boiled over. Has there been a fall-out higher up and for him, it was the final straw?

Butcher offski?
Maybe Butcher IS going to Easter Road tomorrow, and will sit in the away end in disguise. Then at the end when we've utterly thumped Hibs, he'll run out to the front, remove his disguise and do his regular post-match celebration! God I'd love that!

Butcher offski?
Surely if Butcher is not in the dugout tomorrow, that means he's gone? If he's still manager, it should be his duty to be there.

Butcher offski?
Didn't think Butcher came across very well there really. The only plus side from that report was Maurice Malpas's hat!
