The new manager thread
I think you might be referring to the ex-Cambridge manager John Beck, who apparently used to fine defenders if they didn't abide to his rule (they were only allowed a maximum of two touches - one to control the ball, the other to whack it long). He used to have all kinds of unusual gamesmanship ideas as well (growing the grass long in the corners so the ball would stop dead and supplying opposition teams with rugby balls to train with amongst other things!). Alternatively, Brian Clough would substitute centre-back who aimlessly booted it long apparently.

Brill Raven* Warren Meekings Shinnie Draper Foran Doran Ross Watkins Mckay Subs - Esson, Devine, Agdestein, Williams*, Greenhalgh*, Tremarco, Polworth * If Raven is still injured, go with Shinnie on the right and Tremarco on the left with Pepper coming onto the bench, if Williams is also out, put Matthew Cooper on the bench and if Greenhalgh is also out, put Curtis Allen on the bench.- Butcher offski?
Why would ICT approve an approach today, when last night they said they'd reject it and thus, should Butcher resign to speak to Hibs, would get no compensation? I think they know Butcher must be keen and the likelihood of him leaving ICT is very high.- Butcher offski?
Someone on Hibs.net has written the following - I know it's a wee bit "my sister's dog's friends says..." type of thing, but with the news that Jimmy Nicholl will take the team on Saturday, the scenario of how things will pan out doesn't sound that farfetched.- Butcher offski?
Hibernian have now made a formal approach according to him off STV.- The new manager thread
Alex Neil is the new player-manager. Doing quite well apparently.- The new manager thread
You must be joking! He'd be a horrendous choice. Another job-for-the-boys type, who plays utterly-awful 5-4-1 anti-football, who got perhaps the SPL's poorest ever team relegated, and was promptly fired last year after being despised for about three years by a large section of their fans. I'd rather have Brewster back than him! Someone mentioned Mowbray earlier, now that might be a good choice actually, and would Kevin MacDonald be interested? Think he's out of a job right now, and certainly knows his stuff. Talk of him getting it once before IIRC as well.- The new manager thread
No to Robbo for me. It would be a backwards move. And also a big no way to Levein. A dull man, playing hoofball forward in a 4-6-0 formation. Can't wait.....- The new manager thread
I wonder if Ossie Ardiles will try again...?- Butcher offski?
The Courier are reporting that Butcher has had no contact with Hibs and has not agreed terms! Terry Butcher is STILL in the building (for now).- The new manager thread
Kenny Shiels - No Craig Levein - God no! Jimmy Calderwood - I'd rather die! Mixu Paatelainen for me would be a good choice if he fancies chucking the Finland job.- The new manager thread
For me, an attacking, on the deck football type manager for me. No more of this long ball garbage please!- Butcher offski?
A good coach or not, I do not want Malpas as manager. His record in his own right is shocking!- Butcher offski?
If true, this is very disappointing. Moreso if he takes Mo and Marsella with him (and Foran in January) The Sun were reporting earlier that his management team will include Malpas and John Brownlie - no mention of Marsella.- Butcher offski?
Going by what Richard Gordon's just said, Terry Butcher has left the building.- Butcher offski?
You read the Daily Mail? When I'm not playing croquet with my son Rupert and daughter Prudence, yes! As I said before though, if Butcher's not interested and is not going to take the job, why doesn't he come out and say it now? Remember what happened with Barnsley - a big huge saga and we were all elated when he turned them down. Then the reality set in that he might not be here forever and form took a sudden nosedive. When he was linked with Swindon, he came out and said 'no' almost instantly, now he's saying 'We'll see what happens'. Doesn't sound encouraging to me. John Robertson claims that Butcher spoke to Hibs the last time, while I've also heard rumblings that he applied for Motherwell job the last time it came up and was interested in the Aberdeen job as well (though Malpas wasn't). He said after the Barnsley incident that he'd at least see out his contract here, and I for one, hopes he keeps his word. But while he has the right to leave should he wish, to leave this club and decimate it, by taking key players with him, and turning what could be our best ever season into possibly one of the worst, would be a very bitter pill to swallow.- Not surprised crowds are low
Main Stand fans = bland North Stand fans = grand- Butcher offski?
And it might not be Hibs he's off to! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2486063/Terry-Butcher-list-Middlesbrough-manager-job.html?ITO=socialnet-twitter-middlesbroughmail&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=socialnet-twitter-middlesbroughmail&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed- Butcher offski?
Butcher was quick to dismiss getting the Swindon Town job, not long after the Barnsley saga, despite being linked with it and allegedly being wanted by the chairman. Why isn't he doing that this time?- Inverness CT -V- Kilmarnock
I was glad we got the win, but it wasn't the best of games, not helped by the horrid conditions, particularly when the ball went airborne and was constantly being affected by the wind. For my money, I thought Foran and Draper had fairly quiet games by their usual standards, along with Mckay who didn't seem quite as sharp as normal - I wonder if he's carrying an injury. Personally, I thought Josh Meekings had a great game today and was again pretty impressed by Williams and Watkins. The only thing I would change is our attitude for the last ten minutes or so. Towards the end, we seemed to change our philosophy, by sitting deep and letting Kilmarnock come at us. We held out today, but such changes have caught us out in the past. I'd much rather we'd have continued how we were playing before and attacking while keeping the ball. All in all, a good victory.- Butcher offski?
He'd be a fool to leave ICT for Hibs IMO.- Ross County -V- Inverness C.T.

You can clearly see Cifti fingers dug into the linesman neck. The JFK assassination this is not!- Scottish Cup Semi/Final Venue
Did we not play Gretna away years ago before they were in the SFL? Personally, I'd love a Highland/Lowland League/Junior team, or in failing that, somewhere that we haven't been for a while like Stirling or Clyde or somewhere. - Team for Hibs
