Graeme Bennett resigns from board
Heard at the game today, that Bennett's leaving was actually due to the leaking of inside information via his son's Twitter page. No idea how true that is though.

The new manager thread
People who applied/expressed an interest in the job - Kenny Shiels - Ex-Kilmarnock, Carrick Rangers, Larne, Coleraine, Northern Ireland U17s and others manager. Chris Sutton - Ex-Lincoln City manager. Failed to get ICT job when interviewed for it the last time round. Billy Reid - Ex-Hamilton and Clyde managers. Recently failed to get the Airdrie job. Gus MacPherson - Ex-St.Mirren and Queen of the South manager. Billy McKinlay - Fulham Coach Antonio Tapia - Ex-Malaga, Real Betis and Tenerife managers, along with others. Sacked by most clubs it seems and failed to get the Hibs job. John Robertson - Ex-ICT, Hearts, Derry City, Ross County, Livingston and East Fife managers. Not much of note everywhere post-ICT. Barry Wilson - Wick Academy and Dingwall Spar manager. Former Elgin City assistant and recently turned down the Queen of the South job. Paul Hartley - Alloa Athletic manager. Two consecutive promotions. Rainer Bonhof - Ex-Germany assistant, along with Germany U21, Borussia Monchengladbach, Al-Kuwait and Scotland U21 manager. Won the World Cup as a player. Csaba Laszlo - Ex-Hearts, Uganda, Chaleroi and Lithuania managers, along with some others. George Burley - Ex-Scotland, Hearts, Southampton, Ipswich Town, Crystal Palace and Derby managers, along with a couple of others. Recently sacked after two games by Apollon Limassol. John Hughes - Ex-Falkirk, Hibs, Livingston and Hartlepool manager. Alex Miller - Ex-Aberdeen, Hibernian (ten years there), St Mirren and Morton manager, along with spells at JEF United in Japan, South China in Hong Kong, AIK in Sweden and Sibir Novosibirsk in Russia. Unnamed Italian - ??? Unnamed South American - ??? Removed themselves from the running - Craig Levein - Declined to be interviewed. Richie Foran - Ruled himself out and has yet to do coaching badges. Maurice Malpas - Turned the job down. Now unless the unnamed South American and Italian are up to much, that's a rather uninspiring list.

I think we go should back to the late 19th/early 20th century style and have a committee picking the team!

The new manager thread
I'd rather they took their time, with Duncan Shearer, Foran and Kellacher holding the ship (all very capable) for as many games as it takes, than rush the appointment and end up with someone rubbish.

I must say, I do love the excitement of the managerless limbo!

Billy Reid played utterly horrific football at Hamilton and recently failed to get the Airdrieonians job. No way!

I'm led to believe Sutton is a rather defensive-minded manager - not what he need or would suit us. His record at Lincoln was 27% won, 25% draw and 47% lost. The more I think about him, the more I can't understand why he's even in the running...if he is of course.

Steve Marsella has left the building.
Was it not something to do with Alan Savage and Orion?
- Who do you want? Poll

Steve Marsella has left the building.
Did we not have Hagi and Popescu as scouts once?

Who will Butcher try to get from ICT in Jan
I was going to say that we should sign some of the better Hibs players, just for giggles and that, then I remember there aren't any!

Steve Marsella has left the building.
At least he had the decency to keep his mouth shut throughout, as opposed to those other two vagabonds who singlehandedly tarnished their reputation here forever.

Do the players not like him or something?
- Butcher offski?

I reckon it was actually the real Terry Butcher all along!

Sutton would be the wrong choice IMO. Tapia seems to have been sacked from most of his jobs as well.

http://www.lincoln.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=231883 Here's an article about Sutton applying for the County job when McStay was sacked. The last line doesn't fill me with much confidence.

Captain in Foran's absence
Gary Warren was the captain of Newport (and the British Teachers Team!). I think he'd be just as good as Foran, if not better!

Contract Situation
Sky Sports are reporting that Richie Foran has signed up for three more years!

I see Craig Brown is touting Kenny Shiels for the job. If that's not a good indicator for not appointing him, I don't know what is!

We've probably a better squad now than the one Shiels inherited, but how good was he at Killie when tried to put his own touches on Mixu's squad? The aforementioned two expensive keepers and those Nigerians doesn't make for good reading. If he were to get the job, he might alright to begin with, but I'm unconvinced he's the man to take the club forward in the long term.

Sacked and then re-instated almost immediately at Coleraine (sounds like some d!ickhead Director nonsense) before going on to win the league title (by 15 points), promotion and a cup that same season. Won another cup and finished 2nd in the league the following season. Resigned after Directors started berating him following a couple of losses to near rivals a couple of seasons later. Took on an all but relegate team at Ballymena and whilst he couldn't save them, he did get them promoted again at second attempt....won 2 cups and qualified for Intertoto in the process. 10 wins, 10 draws, 10 losses was his record at Larne, a job he resigned from due to his work with the national association. How good a manager was he at Kilmarnock though? While he may have won the League Cup, how much of what he achieved was through his own quality and not having a great platform for him put in place by Mixu Paatelainen? From what I can see, there could well be a chance that he's nothing more than this decade's Ivan Golac - only more annoying!
