  1. Hogg for me is the only surprise. Shame he's away, as I think he's been very good since his return from injury. Mathieson I thought might get another year, but perhaps Butcher has a better young keeper lined-up (likely Robbie Thomson) and it's no surprise that Morrison is offski as he never really cemented a place in the team. Having watched Sutherland as a centre forward in the U20 game the other week, I'd have been inclined to give him another year as long as that was the position he was played in. Playing him as a winger (I thought he was meant to be the new Jonny Hayes‽) was a waste and totally ineffective.
  2. If we get into Europe, will there be another Butcher sermon a la Ayr United 2010?
  3. As I said earlier in the thread, for someone who said a couple of months ago that "he couldn't understand why anyone would leave ICT", Aaron Doran is taking a heck of a long time to sign up. I wonder if the County rumours are true after all, but he doesn't to announce it till after the game on Sunday.
  4. Rory Fallon might be worth a look. Would certainly offer something a bit different to McKay up front. Wasn't overly impressed with him when he came to Inverness for the U20 game last week. Supposedly, we have interest in ex celtic goalkeeper Robbie Thomson. Who by the way, played against us in the League Cup earlier this season for Stenhousemuir. From what I remember he was rather good that night as well.
  5. And that is the end of that!
  6. 2-0 now and through Fraser's legs!
  7. Better get your telegram machine out!
  8. I was doing some stalking research on Twitter earlier in the week and apparently Calum Ferguson is staying on because he signed a two year deal last year.
  9. Late Goals Conceded/Late Substitutions August 4th - St Mirren (A) - Andrew Shinnie OFF Liam Polworth ON (87 minutes) - St Mirren equalise 90th October 27th - St Johnstone (H) - Andrew Shinnie OFF Gavin Morrison ON (89 minutes) - St Johnstone equalise 90th November 10th - Hearts (H) - Andrew Shinnie OFF Gavin Morrison ON (85 minutes) - Hearts equalise 90th December 15th - Dundee United (A) - Andrew Shinnie & Billy McKay OFF Polworth & Roberts ON (89 minutes) - DUFC equalise 90th February 13th - Kilmarnock (H) - Andrew Shinnie OFF Daniel Devine ON (85 minutes) & Aaron Doran OFF Shane Sutherland ON (89 minutes) - Kilmarnock equalise 90th May 11th - Dundee United (H) - Nick Ross OFF Shane Sutherland ON (87 minutes) - Dundee United win in the 90th. Going by that, these late substitution don't help matters. Bar the Hearts 1-1 draw and the 85th minute change in the Kilmarnock game, we've conceded five times this season having made late substitution in three minutes or less. I wonder if these late changes do more harm than good, unsettling the team going for the final home strait. On almost every occasion (Sutherland excluded) the change has been putting more inexperienced player on from the one that came off. Surely the evidence shows that this is unsettling and disrupting the flow of the team and contributing to conceding late goals and thus losing points.
  10. We need to win, so we may as well go for it. It's a very narrow pitch at Dingwall, so wingers will be no use. An attacking 4-3-3 for me, so let's go out and gub them! Reguero Raven Hogg Meekings G.Shinnie A.Shinnie Jones Ross Doran Sutherland McKay Subs - Esson, Devine, Pepper, Taylor, Polworth, Christie, Mathieson
  11. Said it before and I'll say it again; if we don't get Europe we'll have no-one to blame but ourselves.
  12. And they won it as well! Shame he never got on though.
  13. You'll never have better chances to win a game than we had today and I'm scared we've blown our chance. Graeme Shinnie was my MOTM while I feel Pepper could have given us a bounce for Nick Ross as opposed to Sutherland, while Doran's final ball is often very poor. We never seem to rise to the occasion.
  14. Arfield would be a good signing I think. Jensen was good in his day but might be a bit past it by now. I see Grainger's been released by Hearts. Experienced and good at set-pieces IIRC. Don't know if he'd want to come/would be affordable though.
  15. I see Man U have accidentally announced that Moyes is the new manager on their Facebook page! Edit - Now officially confirmed that Moyes will take over on July 1st on a six year deal.

And remember the fuss when we let Munro and Tokely go, perhaps Butcher got that correct (I think he did) despite all the nonsense spouted on here by certain posters On the whole Tokely hasn't been missed. He might have got a game at right-back ahead of Raven (before he came good) at the start of the season, but'd be sat on the bench for a while by now. Munro has since been adequately replaced. Had he at the time been replaced by Warren (or someone of that ability) at the time, then I think the issue would have died a death fairly quickly. His replacement though Tom Aldred who wasn't as good and disappeared fairly quickly. For my money, Williams, Tokely and Proctor all weren't as good as him, while Golobart came good after a dodgy start. He would have made a difference to the defence last season, but would be a bench player for this one.
  17. GMS came through the County youth system before signing for Liverpool. We had him on trial in 2010 and he played the first half of a friendly against Clach, before getting injured the following week in the warm-up of a game at Forres. Apparently we did offer him a deal a few months later which he turned down.
  18. I won't be surprised if it's a very left-field appointment (similar to Wenger at Arsenal).
  19. IMO both penalty decisions were wrong. The Motherwell one was a blatant dive, while Ross just falls over his own feet. The first Motherwell goal should never have happened either - it came from them winning a free kick that was never a foul. Another poor poor game from Willie Collum and it's not the first time that's happened. I actually thought as well, that we were almost contributing to our own downfall in the second half. The all-out-attack system from the first half seemed to have been stopped and the defence was sat far deeper than before. As we've seen in the past (the Challenge Cup Final for example) that can be suicidal and could have cost us. A great, exciting game though, and our first half tactic, of taking the game by the horns and playing with far more gay abandon rather than the recent tentative safety-first football that we've seen in the previous weeks, is the way to go, till the end of this season and next.
  20. Connor Rennie was at Dundee in the SPL I think. Though I think he's at Deveronvale now...

Am I not right in saying that Hogg's wife is Butcher's goddaughter (She's the daughter of George Burley I believe)? I remember talk as well that one of reasons Butcher punted Munro was due to preferring Hogg and apparently never rating Munro since he arrived. With that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised to see Butcher offer him a new deal (and I hope he does).
  22. Has Scott Mathieson been released then?
  23. I believe it's official called "The Caley Thistle'! I bet there was many sleepless nights spent thinking up that name! That's the family enclosure.
  24. I'm not a fan of naming stands after people really. Mainly because there's been influential people throughout (and before) the club's life and there'll be ones that may even not have yet been born! If Terry Butcher deserves a stand named after him, then what about Steve Paterson? Had it not been for him we probably wouldn't even be in the SPL today, far less challenging for Europe. He's still probably our greatest ever manager as well. And what about David Sutherland? Arguably there'd be no club without him and saved it from going belly up in the early years. And what about Dennis Wyness, Jim Calder, Ross Tokely etc? If you're going to name stands after people, where is it going to end? In saying that, I wouldn't mind seeing the North Stand christened officially as "The Bridge End" or something along those lines (and preferably not something naff like Hamilton's "Spice Of Life Stand" [yes that is what it's called!]). One idea I heard once was calling it the "Citadel" after the long gone team, we do play in their part of town after all. No sponsored or named after name for me thanks (though I could be persuaded for a Pele reference! ), though I wouldn't mind seeing christened with a more unique name.

Must have been changed then. The ICT official site still says Tuesday.
