He doesn't anymore. He now manages Kaizer Chiefs. Watched that Shiels interview earlier as well. Seems to come across as quite a decent guy.

Robert Eagle had a great cross, but little else. Passing was poor, had no right foot at all and was as slow as a week in jail. Andre Blackman had some potential, but was obviously a bit of a ned. Brislen-Hall was also a decent player who was very quick and very hard working, just never got a chance. Charlie Taylor was a good signing and had a great game in the 2-1 home win against County. To put him on the worst list is utterly nonsense. Surely Andre Martins has to be one of the worst. Signed with a weird history of playing for loads of clubs all over the world, but playing very few games and seems to have since been exposed as a con man. I'm one of the few ICT fans who actually saw him play live and he was quite simply rubbish!

One thing I've noticed from the U20 games I've been at in the past, is you can tell who the regular first team players are instantly. Marley Watkins this season has been a step ahead of the rest and the likes of Toby, Williams, Polworth, Pepper, and in the past Nick Ross, always just seem that cut above. Admittedly, I've only seen Curtis Allen play once a few months ago, and he didn't really look that great at all. His weight/fitness also seemed to be a problem. While he came billed as a great technical player (which may well be true), was linked with the likes of West Brom and Swansea, and has a good record in Northern Ireland, that league is probably somewhere around Scottish Division 2 standard. In fact, I watched a game on TV of the all-Ireland Setanta Cup once and the standard was so poor, I've seen better football down at Bught Park! While it's the case that some players do well at U20/Reserve level, but fail to make an impact in the first team (see Rory McAllister as a classic example), I've never really heard of an example of the opposite being true. Sounds like he's the dud of the signings this year I'm afraid.

Surely Tansey has to be up there, he was absolutely useless!

I used to get a lot of heat on the forum for my belief that, unlike some people, Butcher wasn't the greatest human being to ever walk the face of the Earth. Over the last season and a half, Butcher and Malpas really had won me round, playing good football and attracting good players, and I particularly enjoyed the big shindig at the end of the away games. It all seems like a distant memory to me now. There's was always though something about Butcher as a man, that didn't sit quite right with me. I always thought there was a side to him where he could turn into a real menace, and I once witnessed at a reserve game Butcher (who happened to sitting next to Derek Adams at the time) balling at one fan like he was dirt. It was a horrible moment and I will not forget it. I have it on good authority as well, that like Alex Ferguson, there's a schizophrenic side to Butcher that can come out at any time. I've heard from quite a few sources, that if you're telling Butcher everything's great and he's fantastic, he's a lovely man, but make even a passing remark he takes umbrage to, he becomes an utter horror. Am I surprised that Butcher has gone? In many ways, yes I am. I thought he would least see out this season at least, but to go to a rival of ours, a club known as a managerial graveyard and going back on the promise he'd given the club and to essentially trash us in the process is a very bitter pill to swallow. To speak to Hibs, in some way, behind the backs of the club, the chairman and the fans is a horrible move and to then deny it to everyone is even worse. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, officially Butcher was still "making making up his mind" until Sunday, yet Malpas claims he'd already to already made up his mind to leave by "the middle of last week", despite saying prior to the Hibs game that "he didn't know what was going to happen". To me, that sounds like Malpas has let it slip that this has been on the cards secretly for some time in advance. Butcher and Malpas are nothing but liars. There's no doubt, that overall that Butcher and Malpas (and Marsella) did some great work for this club both on the field and off it, but their behaviour recently has been nothing short of a disgrace. Had they gone at the end of the season or to a large English club (such as Butcher's beloved Ipswich) then I think that even had they broken their word, the fans would be understanding and the wounds would quickly heal and we'd all wish them well, but for them to go in the manner they did was utterly vile. The good work they did has now soured and the name here has been tarnished beyond repair. I wish on Butcher and Malpas nothing but the worst, for the rest of their careers.

Probably the most likely. He's applied for quite a few jobs over here I think including Kilmarnock (he mentioned Killie Pies as a reason he was interested!) and the national team. Looking at his record, he's actually managed quite a few prominent teams including Parma, Shakhtar Donetsk, Besikitas and Spartak Moscow.
-
He did indeed. Supposedly it wasn't a gimmick either, as he had found an assistant as well (probably Ricky Villa). I remember when he applied, he was interviewed by the BBC. When they asked what he knew about Inverness, he replied with: "All I know...it is very cold!"
-
According to the Daily Express, ex-Malaga and Real Betis manager Antonio Tapia, who was previously after the Hibs gig, has applied for the job.
-
Notice as well, that up until last weekend, Butcher was still "making up his mind". Despite this, Malpas claims he'd decided to leave by the middle of last week. Bit strange considering Butcher hadn't made up his mind yet eh!
-
Has Ivan Golac applied yet? He's the best manager in the business (according to himself!).
-
I see the odds are shortening on Derek Adams and he's now at 6-1!
-
I seem to recollect when Hearts and Hibs got to the Scottish Cup final last year, there was talk of moving the game to Murrayfield, but that was thrown out due to it being in the Hearts side of the city. I don't see how playing a semi-final in a 'chosen' neutral venue that is in the home city of one of the teams makes any difference.

I don't believe such an award exists.
-
Is he still on the porky side? He looked awfully chubby when I saw him!

Warren came in a year after Munro went, so could hardly be considered a replacement. We struggled big time at the back after Munro was punted, and having to use the likes of Aldred who clearly didn't want to be here and even David Proctor to fill the void left behind. It's no surprise that we didn't record our first clean sheet until January that year!

Would he be a good Director of Football? Think about it: he could go away scouting players all over Britain (and beyond), and have some input in tactics, training and the direction of the team, but would be out of harms way and he could simply get on with it, as well as possibly been able to keep his day job in some regard as well. I think something like that could work.
-
Funnily enough, when I read that England part earlier, I immediately thought that was a hint toward KMac (his new name!).
-
I would guess that he will trot out the old mantra tomorrow that Hibs are a big club with a big support BINGO! and the potential is there to take them from being a sleeping giant to somewhere far further than he could ever take ICT (due to lack of money/fans/infrastructure etc) BINGO! ..... love Inverness, love ICT, love the Highlands BINGO! but it was a challenge he just could not turn down !!! all that bullshit ..... FULL HOUSE!!!!
-
I wonder who he'll try and take next? Duncan Shearer? The away support? Tommy the Groundsman?
-
Gnapka was class person he just didn't get enough time playing He was a lazy twit and was rightly punted as soon as possible.
-
Yes he is the same one. Been round the clubs since Raith though! I think he said last week as well, that he most likely wouldn't be staying on, but I'd have thought Butcher might keep him on in some regard (it was Nichol that took Butcher to Raith as a coach years ago).
-
I know his time at Swindon ended in strange circumstances, but I was reading there that Kevin MacDonald was very big on trying play attractive football, while also trying to bring young players through. He sounds to me like he could be the man for the job.
-
I was told as well, that apparently Dundee United got their the new management team (McNamara, Jackson and the other one), for the money they were offering Peter Houston alone. For that reason, I can't see him coming up here in any capacity.
-
Nah. With a name like that he'd be here for 6 months and then off to Hibs to replace Butcher Apparently his nickname is "Musselburgh"!
-
Would Justin Edinburgh be a good choice? Done quite well with Newport I believe, and might be someone who could work well with the players we have at the moment. Likes the 4-3-3 formation as well. Bonus points for having a great name.
