  1. It is interesting to see that there is still so much confidence in Currency Traders and Bankers nowadays.
  2. As I say start buying gold and dollars.
  3. If I was in Scotland at the moment I would be using up all my hard earned Pounds to buy Gold and Dollars because it will be too late to do so soon. Hope it does not come down to it but devaluation of your savings while they sit in a Bank account which you cannot touch is one of the worst things in the world to experience. My advice to the people in Scotland with savings is to set about actioning your own plan B.
  4. Think in those days bullying was par for the course in all Inverness Secondary Schools. This is where Prefects stepped in. I remember in my first year that one particular nasty bully was bothering a lot of us individually. We complained to the Prefects. They got a hold of him and took him behind the bike shelters and in front of all of us gave him a good bit of "humiliation". We were never bothered again and that bully never bullied anyone ever again.
  5. Over the years I have watched political leaders have these types of head to head debates in the five different countries I have lived in ( as well as many of the States and Provinces of these countries ). From memory more or less all of them ended up in a big flat boring draws. This is the first time I have seen someone ( Salmond ) being comprehensively beaten and humiliated by their opponent and then being castigated by their own supporters. Salmond is now a liability and is destroying the chances of the Yes campaign. He needs to be replaced before the next televised debate. It seems that for too many people that his credibility is damaged beyond redemption. it looks like he will go down in history as the man that snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. He needs to be ditched before he causes more losses.
  6. Oh well, if I have to explain it here goes. It is a figure of speech that implies that if I would not trust him with changing toilet rolls in my house I definitely would not trust him with what he has to say about independence for Scotland. Hope this makes my figure of speech clearer for you IBM.
  7. Agreed - I would not trust Salmond to change the toilet roll in our house.
  8. Fortunate to be able to receive this debate live on line in NZ. First time I have seen either of these two people perform on their feet. I have observed sleaze bag politicians the world over and here was another two. Although I have to say for me, Salmond has become one of the biggest sleaze bags I have ever encountered. I was undecided on the independence question but after that debate Salmond put me right off his side of the debate.
  9. The Dirge! The Dirge! ARGHHHHHHHHHHH! Scotland stop winning Gold I can't stand hearing the dirge. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!
  10. Thought overall it was a good opening with plenty of Glasgow p**s take humour, not taking themselves too seriously. Thought Nicola Benedetti's piece was brilliant - she really is world class. NZ commentators gave it a 9 out of 10 - one saying that the Scots know how to pull at your heart strings and bring you to tears - on several occasions. They are also saying that Glasgow is the friendliest place they have ever been to for a sporting event and they are all loving being there. Hope the weather holds out. I heard a rumor that a lot of the African countries had been training in the Arctic Circle for the last few months so as to acclimatize to a Glasgow summer - is this true?
  11. Thank goodness they did not use that terrible, pitiful, embarrassing dirge O' Flower of Scotland as an Anthem for the Opening Ceremony. A totally cringeworthy song if ever there was one. Every time I here that song being sung it reminds me of piles of drunks spilling out of the pubs in Scotland in the 1970's, singing the song through the piles of vomit spewing from their mouths. The song should be banned. Who says it is our National Anthem anyway? From memory it got sung once at a Rugby International in the 70's and was used from there on. No decent Scot with good taste ever had any say in the matter.
  12. But do they have a bridge and a castle? No Castles, but they all do have beautiful reefs, beaches, weather, food and a wonderful friendly laid back lifestyle that is beguiling and infectious. Once you are there you don't want to leave.
