  1. charles, first, I am as happy as all on here after yesterdays result. 1st look we were 2 down, oh no. 2nd look we were 2-2, great. Clicked to see who scored for us and it showed 3-2 win, YEEHA. To my point you have produced a lot of stats, possibly from the BBC game report? you haven’t mentioned the fact they were down to 10 men from the 74th minute of a 96 minute game that would have/ should have helped move the dominant numbers in our favour. anyway heading off to the county v rangers game with the kids for my weekend footie fix. well done to the team yesterday, great to get a late goal to win the game. Nothing better in football. Well done storm Darragh??
  2. Was taking the Michael out of the bbc, not you. Wouldn’t dare, you sit too close to me in the north stand.
  3. donnie, you are going to have to be more creative with these reports (excellent by the way). your take on the winning goal….… Paul Allan's corner ended up in the net for the visitors to snatch a deserved win and three valuable points. BBC live match text on the winning goal………….. Goal!at 90 minutes plus 4 90'+4 Goal! Montrose 2, Inverness CT 3. Paul Allan (Inverness CT) right footed shot from a difficult angle and long range on the left to the top right corner. 😀
  4. That was a pleasant shock. Going to watch next weeks opponents now. Arbroath v QOS live on bbc alba at 17:30. storm darragh, 50 mph winds for the remainder of the evening in Arbroath. No need to turn on dick campbell’s wind turbine.
  5. Mantis you are correct. I had nothing on today, county away, no golf, so last evening decided I would go to cove. Had the mobile in one hand with the text ready, requesting a seat on the supporters bus. Thought I should look for a ticket first, so on to the ipad. Never been to balmoral stadium. Had the ticket in the basket but decided before buying and texting the bus I would google the ground. Didn’t like what I saw, flat standing around the pitch, little home stand and what looked like an away terraced cover for a few people. Deleted the text and the ticket. so fixed a broken slate on the house roof that was damaged by the snow/ice last week. Took 5 mins, so had a lazy day……. Wouldn’t fancy that every Saturday, but just looked and it’s same next week. We are away to Montrose and county v rangers is 12 noon on the Sunday. Plus weather report is for snow all over Scotland next week with 7 inches forecast in some areas. Surely the SPFL…………….
  6. Young cove supporters vlog of today’s game. Fast forward the first 4 minutes of his build up, or watch from the start, and then see some of the chances we missed and the 2 cove goals. As he says “ anything can happen in the cup” Maybe they fielded a suspended player?? ( clutching at straws)
  7. Came up on YouTube last few minutes. Don’t want to steal your thunder IBM but thought I would post on here.
  8. Paul Third: SPFL failed fans after ignoring weather chaos Supporters were treated abysmally and ignored by the football authorities at the weekend. Fans braved treacherous conditions, some in vain, in the hope of watching their side on Saturday. Image: SNS by Paul Third November 24 2024, 12:00 pm Football without fans is nothing – yet it seems the authorities which run Scottish football seem to have forgotten that. How else can you explain the ludicrous events which resulted in farcical scenes across the country? It was a week of yellow and amber warnings being issued on a daily basis so the SPFL cannot say they were caught unaware by the chaos which unfolded on Saturday. We all knew Storm Bert was coming and an amber weather warning was issued on Thursday for Angus, Perth and Kinross, Stirling, Aberdeenshire, Highland and Argyll and Bute. This warning followed yellow warnings which had already been issued for parts of the country. The message from Police Scotland was clear. Superintendent Vinnie Fisher, deputy head of road policing, said: “All road users should consider whether they really need to travel in adverse weather.” In a week where parents had been checking to see whether their children’s school was closed or opening later, or whether school transport was operating, in football it seems warnings are trivial affairs best ignored. Saturday was farcical The postponement of Elgin’s home game against Clyde was announced on Friday. It was the only game where an early and entirely sensible decision was made. What followed was ridiculous. We had it all from pitch inspections, late call-offs and rearranged kick-offs with little more than an hour’s notice to team buses getting into difficulty trying to get to games. Throughout it all, the interest of fans was completely ignored. Someone at the SPFL needs to explain why a game of football going ahead is more important than the risk to those who make the game what it is. Why are there no protocols in place if the advice is not to travel unless absolutely necessary. And no, a game of football does not come into the ‘absolutely necessary’ category ever. That may be a bone of contention for the football die-hards – and let’s be honest, anyone prepared to make a trip to watch a game on Saturday comes into that category – but even if you were willing to go the customer service was appalling. It was past noon before Queen of the South’s home game against Caley Thistle was postponed. If you are a Caley Jags fan, you were well on your way to Palmerston Park when you heard that news. And what about poor old Stenhousemuir? They were stuck in the snow at Broxden roundabout on their way to Balmoral Stadium only to find out the game was called off due to public safety. Then there’s the fans who went to Ibrox to watch Rangers face Dundee United or to Paisley to see Aberdeen face hosts St Mirren. The kick-off time for the Rangers game was moved to 3.45pm as Dundee United had been delayed in getting to Glasgow due to the conditions. Aberdeen’s game was delayed an hour due to the snow and subsequent pitch inspection required. This cannot happen again Clearly the weather was horrific, hence why the warnings were issued in the first place. Nobody can say they didn’t know it was coming. Jokes about Bert and Ernie were made all week due to the naming of the storm. But it’s the powers that be in Scottish football who were the real muppets in this sorry affair. By effectively putting their fingers in their ears and ignoring what was coming they put players and fans at risk. As a customer service exercise it was appalling. It cannot be allowed to happen again. If rules are not in place to govern events like the ones which unfolded then that in itself is unforgivable. If action is not taken now to ensure this doesn’t happen again then it’s downright negligent. ps………. i took the grandkids to RC v Motherwell on Saturday. Hardly any wind from the house to the game, bit of rain during game, but we were well up the east stand as a lot of people gave it a miss. might have been over a hundred away fans, in good cheer, giving earache to the linesman and referee who forgot his yellow cards in the first half, and a 6 or 7 minute check for a VAR offside on Motherwell goal which from my seat on the 18 yard line looked well on side. Goal stood. wouldnt have fancied their trip home with the weather and zero points.
  9. For the oldies, reading this post reminded me of merle haggard song from 1982, are the good times really over for good. Last verse for ict fans.
  10. Do you mean Cabot Highland.?🙃
  11. Don’t shoot the messenger. I only posted it for those on here not at the game to see the couple of chances we had first half. yesterday there was a tight call by stand side linesman calling the ball out. There were guys in the right side of the north stand shouting the ball was in play. I left my glasses in the car so couldn’t say if they were right using their super human vision. Supporters EH.

  13. nothing we don’t know already, but a couple of minute read for non highland based supporters from the beeb today. The rise and fall of Inverness Caledonian Thistle IMAGE SOURCE, SNS Image caption, Billy Mckay, front left, is part of a new management set up at Inverness Published 8 hours ago Inverness Caledonian Thistle (ICT) is fighting for survival 30 years after its controversial formation. The Highland club is in administration and seeking much-needed new investment after running up large debts. Its players and management team also face the huge task of escaping relegation from League 1 after the club was docked 15 points as punishment for getting itself into financial difficulty. This all feels a long way from glory days "Super Caley" enjoyed in the past, with teams led by managers including Hearts legend John Robertson, former Celtic and Hibs defender John Hughes and England captain Terry Butcher. Three buyers interested in Inverness Caley Thistle Published 5 days ago Inverness Caley Thistle goes into administration Published 22 October For ICT it all began in 1993 when the Scottish Football League decided to expand from 38 to 40 teams for season 1994-95. It was suggested Inverness's three Highland League clubs - Thistle, Caledonian and Clachnacudden - join forces and make a bid for one of the two slots. Clach dropped out of the project but Caley and Thistle, who were both formed in 1885, pushed on towards a merger. There were fans who were vehemently opposed to amalgamation, and it took a narrow 54-46% vote to finally confirm the formation of Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Some supporters were so scunnered by the decision they gave up football and started following rugby instead. 'Super Caley' IMAGE SOURCE, GETTY IMAGES Image caption, Graeme Shinnie lifts the Scottish Cup in 2015 ICT, a part-time club, started playing its first games in Division 3 in 1994. In the 1996-97 season, Inverness secured promotion to Division 2 and in July 1997 manager Steve Paterson, who would later manage Aberdeen, and his coaching team were given full-time roles. Caley Jags continued their climb through the leagues with promotion to Division 1 in 1999. The following year the Highlanders were behind one of the most famous Scottish football newspaper headlines, external. After beating Celtic 3-1 in a Scottish Cup third round match in February 2000, The Sun wrote: "Super Caley Go Ballistic, Celtic Are Atrocious". In 2003-04, the then 10-year-old ICT, won promotion to the Premier League. Over the next 20 years there would be huge highs but also crushing lows. IMAGE SOURCE, GETTY IMAGES Image caption, Terry Butcher congratulates his players after a match in 2013 The club's "fairy tale" season came in 2014-15. Under John Hughes ICT finished third in the Premier League and secured Europa League qualification - and beat Falkirk 2-1 to win the Scottish Cup for the first time - with 10 men after having a player sent off in the second half. The day after the final at Hampden in Glasgow, the team took the trophy on a tour of Inverness in an open topped bus. The club's strong community spirit was clearly on show that day. Fans who had gathered at the stadium to see the bus start its journey were invited to wait inside the ground, and even got the chance to meet some of the cup-winning heroes. Hundreds of people lined parts of the bus's route from the stadium to the Northern Meeting Park where 5,000 fans celebrated with the team. In its first 25 years, ICT also won three league championship trophies and two Challenge Cups. If 2014-15 was the fairy tale, more recent seasons could be called a nightmare. Inverness were relegated to the Championship on the last day of the 2016-17 season, a win over Motherwell not being enough to save it. ICT under manager Billy Dodds did reach the Scottish Cup final in 2023, but lost 3-1 to Celtic. But last season, a run of poor league results and defeat in a play-off against Hamilton saw ICT drop to League 1. Angry fans took to the pitch in protest. IMAGE SOURCE, SNS Image caption, Manager Duncan Ferguson worked for free in his last days at Caley Jags Rumours of significant financial problems were growing louder, and supporters feared the club would go bust. They were also dismayed by plans to move the club's training base 136 miles away to Kelty in Fife. Bosses said the move would allow it to recruit players unwilling to relocate from central Scotland to the Highlands. The plan was abandoned following a backlash. Over the past few months the state of ICT's finances have become apparent, and there has been boardroom drama, with chief executive Scott Gardiner resigning and former chairman Alan Savage returning to prop up the club with funding. Losses ran to £1.2m last season and a similar loss is forecast for this term. Desperate measures were taken to raise revenue. An online appeal was launched and team manager Duncan Ferguson took a pay cut and then worked for free. The administration process has been described as a way of giving the club some breathing space to try and sort out its debts and secure its future. Savage has spoken optimistically of encouraging local businesses to invest in the club, and his hopes of uncovering another young star like Ryan Christie, who left ICT for Celtic and now plays for Bournemouth and Scotland. Veteran striker Billy Mckay is part of ICT's first team new management set up, though hopes of a swift fightback on the pitch were dashed by a 3-1 defeat at Dumbarton. But as the club's history tells, ICT rarely does things the easy way. Related
  14. Don’t know if posted already, apologies if yes. footy adventures
  15. Wasn’t at the game yesterday, gave RC v Killie a miss also to watch my grandson play for RC u11 in a tournament at cormack park, dons new training facility v Dundee Utd elite a and b, Aberdeen elite a and b and ICT a and b. ( county asked him first , ict were a day later with their request, prev tournament was other way round) encouraging reading the post from people there that we were decent for an hour. looking forward to next home game to see it for myself. Starting to get cold so need a bit of jumping up and down to keep warm. ps……… learnt a life lesson yesterday watching the young boys. Never judge a book by its cover. dons and DU had some big boys, 6 footers, then I saw this wee boy who was about 2ft 6, DU strip too big for him and thought you are going to battered by these giants. the wee guy was fantastic, getting stuck in, scoring some great goals, quick, never gave the defenders a seconds rest. in boxing terms he was the best player pound for pound I have seen for a while, including Scotland v Portugal at Hampden a couple of weeks ago.
  16. DD this is not a criticism but I just had a look at league 1 table for last season. Falkirk cruised it with 90 pts, 39 pts was 9th play off spot. 8th was 39 also but better GD. This season only 5 points between 9th and 1st shows everyone can beat each other then take the 16pts from Falkirk, gap 1st to 2nd and distribute among others are we looking at possibly low 40’s for safety this season. Add on our -3 that’s mid 40’s for us. season before Dunfermline won with 87 pts 14 pts gap to 2nd nearly the same as last season. and safety 8th was 40pts. so safety for us looks like 40+ points from next week. disclaimer….. I am not a mathematician.
  17. I don’t think the team would have not tried for the bonus of a win. Honest guys trying their best. slow steady progress will not keep us in league 1. so yes looks like league 2 awaits and starting next season on -5 points. the nightmare will be Inverness derbies the season after, but hopefully it will not come to that. what yngwie said above, I would have said it, but save the face palms etc I would have received.😀
  18. Scotty, let's not get into dunc bashing today when people are losing their jobs. It's been well covered on various threads on here. Did you see the episode of Still Game when the dignatory with the big scissors was giving a speech prior to cutting the ribbon with jack and Victor and the residents of craiglang watching. He would say something and one of the wee neds would shout out " naw he wisnae " He would carry on speaking and the wee ned would shout out " naw he didnae" Not a day for that.😀
  19. Sorry to see dunc go. Watched him follow the team out on Saturday, while heading to the dugout he spotted someone in a wheelchair past the barriers. He separated them and went to spend some time talking to the person then returned to his side. CLASS. Top man. Wish him all the best for the future wherever that may be.

This may not work.
  21. No can’t play on either. I do an Elvis (used to say that to the kids 40 years ago when we would watch a tape on the VHS “ do an ELVIS ” what’s that dad “ — PRESS PLAY I get 1/2 second then it cuts off. Must be me. by the way your report cleared up my bookings query. You get six same as bbc. It seemed every tackle was a yellow the guy was flashing so many cards.
  22. Couldn’t play the goal above so went to YouTube to look for yesterdays game. i must have fell asleep and missed a few goals.
