Caley Thistle’s international trialist makes case with friendly double – while striker with high goal tally also gets a chance Under-19s and four trialists help get Inverness off to a fine start with a 4-1 warm-up win at Strathspey Thistle. by Paul Chalk June 21 2025, 7:20 pm Share0Comment Inverness trialist Carlos Heredia in action against Strathspey Thistle. Image: Sandy McCook/DC Thomson. A Spanish-born flair player – capped 15 times for the Dominican Republic – caught the eye with a brace as a Caley Thistle trialist on Saturday. League One side Inverness, who are weeks away from exiting administration under Alan Savage’s ownership, kicked off their pre-season as their mainly under-19 team were 4-1 winners at Highland League hosts Strathspey Thistle in the baking heat. ICT fielded four unnamed trialists and all were given the full 90 minutes at Seafield Park against the Jags, bossed by former Caley Jags goalkeeper Ryan Esson. We can confirm though that Barcelona-born Carlos Heredia scored a quick-fire double after livewire Ben Gardiner had scored from the spot. After being three goals up at the break, a free-kick from academy graduate Sam Thompson made it four before – ex-ICT star Aaron Doran – who will have a testimonial match for his old club next month – scored Thistle’s consolation. Spaniard was star of the afternoon Another player on trial for ICT was forward Charlie Frost, who scored 34 goals across all competitions with North West Counties side Nelson last term. He was a danger and, with a little luck, could have got on the scoresheet too. The other trialists played at left-back and right-back. Heredia, 26, has scored twice for the Dominican Republic and is trying to win a deal, backed by his experience at Miedz Legnica in Poland, Wolverhampton Wanderers and MK Dons and Dominican professional team Cibao FC. Inverness trialist Charlie Frost rises for a header. Image: Sandy McCook/DC Thomson. The attacking midfielder, who was also a threat on the left wing, kicked off his career in 2016 at CE Europa, a Catalan side in Barcelona, before moved to England to join MK Dons before Wolves. His last period of note was with Miedz Legnica and he impressed in Grantown with smart footwork, and eye for a pass and two goals, especially the second one which was a rifled shot high into the net. Under-19s urged to rise to challenge Head of youth and first-team coach Ross Jack took the team along with Gordon Nicolson and his message to the existing crop of under-19s is to rise to the challenge from any potential – or new – arrivals. He said: “It’s an exciting time for the younger lads, for all the players. “I’ve said to them rather than fear for their places in the team, just go and prove how good they are. “They should say ‘the club are taking bodies in, well I’ll show I’m better than them’. It’s all about believing in themselves, because we do. Strathspey Thistle’s Jordan Laidlaw (No 4) heads the ball into the ICT box. Image: Sandy McCook/DC Thomson. “Fitness is going to be key this season for the first-team and the 19s. It’s massive. “The fitter you are, the better you play. “The trialists who came in acquitted themselves very well. They all got good game-time and I’m delighted with them all.” High tempo impress coach Jack Inverness will split their squads twice this week, with friendlies at Rothes and Nairn County on Wednesday, then on Saturday away to Clachnacuddin and Forres Mechanics. And Jack says the high energy shown by the team is an ideal starting point for the week ahead. He added: “You could see the fitness levels are very good. “Some of the football we played at times was also very good. “Fair play to Strathspey, I thought they played very well in the second half and put us on the back foot a bit. “We’ve come through unscathed and scored four goals. We were disappointed to concede one, but both teams had more opportunities to score. It was a great exercise. “The high tempo we showed here is how we aim to go on. We were pushing forward and putting pressure on. Sam Reid, of Caley Thistle, on the ball against Strathspey’s Filip Franczak. Image: Sandy McCook/DC Thomson. “We have a busy programme of games this week, but that’s the way it has to be. “The first-team boys have taken the younger lads on, and made them welcome. They know they are pushing for places, but they are encouraging them. It will make them better. “Everyone is pushing one another one and looking out for one another.”

Freed Dunfermline midfielder could return to old club Share0Comment Joe Chalmers is hunting for a new club after being freed by Dunfermline. Image: Craig Brown / DAFC. Freed Dunfermline midfielder Joe Chalmers could be on his way back to Inverness Caley Thistle. The 31-year-old is out of contract after being released by the Pars last month and is being trailed by a number of possible suitors. He was one of 14 players who said goodbye to the East End Park club in the wake of a disappointing campaign. The Fifers avoided relegation to League One late on, in part thanks to the 15-point deduction suffered by Hamilton Accies. Chalmers made three appearances after the arrival of Neil Lennon as manager for the final seven matches. The pair had worked together previously at Celtic. However, after 30 outings across the season – and 125 during his three and a half years at the club – he was not offered a new contract. The experienced play-maker’s availability has alerted rival clubs in the Championship. But it is understood Caley Thistle have held talks with the former Motherwell and Ayr United player and made clear their interest. Chalmers could team up with ex-Par He previously spent two seasons with Inverness after joining in the summer of 2017 and racked up 96 appearances before departing for Premiership football with Highland rivals Ross County. The Caley Jags are expected to be able to make new signings from next week after a deal to come out of administration was agreed. Chalmers could join up with former Dunfermline team-mate Paul Allan, who spent last term with the Highlanders and is in talks over a contract extension.

For those that don’t view the P&J. Ex-Caley Thistle keeper Musa Dibaga signs for NIFL Premiership side The Gambian international spent one season with Inverness and was the fans' player of the season. by Paul Chalk June 10 2025, 12:00 pm Share1Comment Former Caley Jags number one, Musa Dibaga. Former Caley Thistle goalkeeper Musa Dibaga has signed for NIFL Premiership club Crusaders. The 25-year-old Spanish-born player was signed at the early part of last season by former ICT boss Duncan Ferguson. It was the first professional move for the keeper, who had only played for East of Scotland outfit Whitehill Welfare and Lowland League side Bo’ness United before impressing on trial in the Highlands. He arrived at the Caledonian Stadium on a one-year deal, and soon replaced on-loan Dundee United keeper Jack Newman as the first pick. Inverness looked on course to be agreeing terms with Dibaga last month, but the fans’ player of the season was soon on the move. His agent Mark Agg-Jones recently told the P&J it was “with a heavy heart” that they had opted to move on, but he cited financial constraints at the League One club as being too restrictive. Clubs in England, including one English Premier League side, were he said interested in Dibaga, who was in Scotland’s third tier’s team of the season – earned with 14 shut-outs in 32 appearances. ‘It was clear that this is the right club for him to continue progressing’ Now the Belfast News Letter is reporting that he’s joined Crusaders in Northern Ireland’s top-flight on a two-year deal. Crusaders manager Declan Caddell has tipped his new arrival to become “a fans’ favourite” at Seaview. He told the club’s social media platform: “We’re thrilled to bring Musa to Crusaders. He had a fantastic season with Inverness and comes highly recommended. “After speaking with him, it was clear that this is the right club for him to continue progressing and achieve his ambitions of playing at the highest level. “We look forward to seeing him in action next season and have no doubt he’ll be a big success and an instant fan favourite.” Semi-professional side Crusaders, who have a mix of part-time and full-time players, finished sixth in their division last term, just three points away from fourth-placed Dungannon Swifts. After three successive seasons in the Conference League qualifiers, the Crues missed out by being beaten in their Euro play-off semi-finals by Glentoran. The hope is a stronger pool including Dibaga next term will take them back into continental competition. Agent describes reason for move Agent Jones has come under fire from some ICT fans, who were gutted to see their number one leave. He told the P&J “competition was fierce” for Dibaga and added: “Musa has exactly what he needs to continue his journey; a great city, lovely people, and a club that has moved heaven and earth to obtain him. “The platform and opportunity to attain 90 professional games that may in future include European ties and a real prospect of silverware has been a persuasive influence, as is the opportunity to be part of a fan-owned club in an intense and passionate league, which made this feel right.”

Sorry to butt in on the foursome, but not in Hamilton, it’s dark all day for them it seems. if you have a spare 8 minutes -
DEFINITELY not complaining about the prices but I wonder if the renewal date may be incorrect what about the prices. I sit in north stand so……. adult EB 260, full price 275= -15 5% discount 18-21 EB 150, full price 150= -0 0% discount U18. EB 90, full price 100= -10 10% discount 65 +. EB 172, full price 224=-52 23% discount A whopping £52 23% discount for old timers, eg me. I am sure there is a reason for the different percentages but this takes away some of the hurt of losing my winter fuel payment last year. Only joking of course.

The past 4 seasons I have been a regular at Dingwall when ict playing away. I know, don’t shoot the messenger. Any time I have seen Logan he was helping out pre match warm up. Half way line catching practice kick outs from gk or in the small nets warming up the strikers. he has been on bench last few games to amissah as laidlaw out injured I think. stats show he has played once for county in a challenge cup game. AS said in his interview yesterday that our team will be made up of players from our academy, highland league, Scottish players and a couple of MARQUEE players. so maybe he ticks all the boxes and we will only need one more marquee player.

Club Club Statement: Season 25/26 02/06/2025 Club Statement Season 25/26 Last week's result against Livingston - resulting in us playing in the Championship next season - has left everyone at the club, personally and collectively, hugely disappointed. We know how much playing Premiership football matters to our community, and we share their deep frustration at how the season concluded. As you might imagine, we have done a lot of soul searching at the club over the last week, and following that, have decided to restructure our football management team under Don Cowie as we make gaining immediate promotion our sole focus. We believe strongly that we have a dedicated and talented manager in Don and that he is the right man to lead us for the season ahead. To support Don, we have appointed the experienced John Robertson as assistant manager with immediate effect. Carl Tremarco and Paul Cowie will leave the club, and we thank them for their efforts and wish them well for the future. John has more than 400 games under his belt as a manager, knows the challenge of recruiting from our base in the Highlands, has experience of the Scottish Championship, and has worked with Don in the past. He already knows the club well and has spent much of last season watching from the sidelines in his role as a BBC pundit. "Everyone at the club is determined to put us in the best position possible to gain promotion back into the Premiership - and to do so within a season. Bringing John in to support Don, will allow us to reshape the playing squad and turn things around as quickly as possible” said Chief Executive Officer Steven Ferguson

Taking about livi. Heading south tomorrow with 2 grandsons who are playing in RC U 14/ U 11 final games of the season. its another 2 x RC v Livingston battles. u14 play on the main Toni macaroni pitch and the u11 play at st Margaret’s academy a couple of minutes away. I am on u11 duty I think. daughter told me it was pretty gruesome fixture last year. Livi played players down eg at least a year older boys. They were throwing the county boys to the ground then stamping on them encouraged all the way by the parents watching. Might come home tomorrow with the same view as you have. Got some antiseptic wipes but will leg it if anyone near me starts clearing their throat.

What about hiding behind 4 grandkids, would that work. . Don’t mention this when we have our HT chats this season, it is just ….

BC, not sure Roy from InverGordon has plans to reduce his involvement. invergordon fc to have their ground updated, get into the highland league and be used as a feeder club playing RC academy players. Ground The club's original ground was the old "Blackpark" (now part of Invergordon Distillery), before they moved to their current playing field at the town's Recreation Grounds. In January 2025, the club applied for planning permission to upgrade the ground, including building a stand, floodlights, dugouts and a fence.[4] Your point regarding competition for fans………… is it time for another merger ??? ICT + RC = Highland FC. or inverness Caledonian thistle county has a ring to it. Not sure what tuppence is worth these days but that’s just my xxxxxx worth.

Me too. Hope my post didn’t come across as a rant. looking at it again reminds me of a speech from a First Minister. Permission to keep “pulling it”. Banter in the car to game yesterday I was singing “ there going down, county going down.” They were giving it back “ at least it’s not to league 1”. county were good 1st half yesterday. Found out later Motherwell did an “ Arbroath” and had made multiple changes. One way traffic 2nd half and had 2 very good chances to win the game.

If you read the post again it was suggested that RC " FIELDED the occasional scotsman or highlander." Nothing to do with starting. RC fan ? Never thought I would hear that said about me. It's a grandad thing. Quality time with 3 grandkids. [ 6 ict season tickets, games at dingwall when ict away] Think I was the only person in the home stand still sitting down when Hale rifled a shot into the top right corner for the opener. Ps.... if big Jordan came back to US I would definitely.... no won't go there.

Well done BC. they are going to Belfast for the Northern Ireland super cup. Each kid costs about £800 for the trip with parents (granda chipping in also) paying £250 and the rest fundraising. my grandson was in last years u 13 team and had a great time. They have several levels of competition, top teams represented, Celtic, Man Utd, spurs, Bournemouth , Leeds Utd etc. even a team from Chicago. County were against Linfield, Ballymeana, Stevenage, Bermuda and Glenavon. https://supercupni.com/ your donation might help ict get another Adam mackinnon in a couple of years time. Grandson was away last week in Madrid with Dingwall academy. They played games and had stadium visits at both madrid grounds as well as taking in the atletico madrid v real sociedad game, which was 4-0. i remember back in the early seventies a trip with the Inverness high school footie team was to Forres, Elgin and Banff on a Saturday, where sometimes they would open the school canteen and serve us pie, beans and chips. My, how times have changed.

Watched the EF v Annan game. East fife no. 11, jack healy, 23 year old winger, fast, direct, gets to the bye line and decent crosser of the ball. Someone like that we have been missing last few seasons.

Really hope Keith does well at Dunfermline. Negative side of me, his only problem may be the fact that the manager who signed him got the sack a few weeks later. Here is John rankin talking about his time when a manager who didn’t sign him wouldn’t play him. Craig Brewster at ict for his second stint. first few minutes is a decent watch before the interviewer changes the subject to Hibs.
