He got praise in the match report on here :-
Well, last week at Pittodrie young Spaniard Roman Golobart was crucified for his Spanish dancing. He must have been taking lessons as this week his potential was there for all to see, he even had time to woosh a couple of Killie players as he displayed an arrogance and panache that will glue him to the Caley Jags support, well done Golly and man of the match award fully justified.
I thought he had a pretty good game, liked how he gave Dayton pelters for his diving. Hogg didn't look quite so assured nearly gifting Killie a goal and giving away a free kick in an dangerous position.
I still feel on the whole we give the opposition too much time on the ball in the final third and need to close down with a little more urgency. That said all in all a much improved performance where for large parts of the game we looked like we had self belief and the confidence to win, and that's great to see.
We put a good number of balls into the box but there never seemed to be anyone on the end of it most of the time would still like to see a poacher / target man to resolve this.

It's time for all fans to get behind the club regardless of what we feel about signings, selections, tactics and those who were allowed to leave our club. Let's try and create an atmosphere this afternoon that can lift the players. This is when a football club most needs it fans not in the good times (of which we have had more than our fair share as ICT fans).Out of adversity can come strength and all that. C MON THE JAGS!
Ditto
Unfortunatly I have a bad feeling that if things don't go our way from the get go and we make a few mistakes that a good number of folk will do the opposite.

Quite unfortunate I reckon, I thought he looked a decent player and pretty reliable. If he played last Sat in place of Roman we my well have fared better. Once Golobart arrived straight into the team he prob thought 'well the gaffer clearly wants him ahead of me' and didn't fancy warming the bench or playing with the younger lads.
Could be off the mark but that would be my interpretation.

With that logic I can only assume that Foran, Hayes, Esson, Tokley, Ross and Doran (oh and Hogg) should be dropped as thay were all part of a team that failed last season. Therefore if we achieve any less than 7th place this season will it be an abject failure in (TB's) and others eyes? Maybe I'm the only negative guy in Inverness! (perhaps living in Glasgow for too long!) Dont get me wrong but I'd love nothing more than to make top 6 but on current evidence (as you say we can't see the future) things are not looking too hot.
PS - IMO we need a poacher / target man ASAP but then maybe I don't understand our new passing game we have.
It is probably my failing, however I do not understand your logic.
The whole point of the changes made since last season is to look at moving the club forward over the coming years. Whether we end up higher or lower this season is in many ways academic as long as there is progress being made by what is an exceptionally young team with a view to improved positions over the coming season.
The injuries which have happened have had a significant adverse effect in that a different team is having to play each week. This is not helpful for getting players to gel with the rest of the team.
I still look back to the fact that we were good for the early and end parts of last season and had relegation form for the middle two quarters. This gave a big hint that some changes were needed and the Manager has broadly turned to younger untried players (at SPl level), but whom offer greater potential than some of the players last season.
If we had money to spend then we could buy in the finished article. We simply don't and as a result a number of the players are brought in on the basis that they will develop over time (think back as to how many people thought Tokely, Duncan & co would be able to hack it at SPL level when we first got promoted?).
It would of course be nice if they could 'click' next week before we drop too far off the pace
Maybe for you our league position the season is academic but my wife and I paid several hundred pounds THIS SEASON so I care about the results THIS SEASON but maybe that's just my crazy thinking. Perhaps I could extrapolate results from seasons past and future but all I care about is 2011/2012 just now.
Again I can only apologigse from my lack of optimism but I don't agree about our 'spending' point that we could 'buy' the finished article and I reckon throwing cash at things ain't always a good answer. For ICT I believe a strong team spirt and 'one for all and all for one' attitute has done us no harm. Obviously injuries are not helping but how may more games do you give until we need a striker?. As I have said before I hope the Killie game is gravy and we kick ass, but on current evidence but I'm really worried as to where consistant goals will come from.

Apart from that one error by Golobart I thought he gave a pretty solid performance, although I think the pace of the game had taken it's toll by the end as he looked on his last legs in the final 10 minutes. Was some signs of why he has also played as a centre forward because he likes to play football, and is comfortable with the ball at his feet. He may be young, but a couple of times today he showed he had a wise head when....one instance in particular in the first half when the situation was almost carbon copy of events last week that saw Tokely red carded. However, instead of fully executing the challenge he took it just far enough to have the Aberdeen player expecting it and forced an extra touch, but he stayed on his feet and was quickly able to recover and see the situation safe. I was also deliberately watching him and he never missed his target with a pass all day.
Gavin Morrison was probably my ICT motm. He was obviously sent out there to play the holding midfielder roll today and he did exactly that and was soaking up a fair bit of pressure and got a few hard knocks as a result. New instructions then came from the bench for him to start pushing forward more and not long after he was unlucky with a great shot from distance...the lad can fair ping a ball.
Tansey is the man who's not doing it for me in the centre of the park. He has a great engine on him and covers miles all over the place during a game, but it all seems like a lot of puff for not much product...looking forward to getting Cox back.
As has already been said, we saw some periods of play today that showed the type of game Butcher is trying to bring to the team. Unfortunately with so many injuries and Butcher not having his first picks out there for executing that plan on the park we struggled to fully execute it. It looked to me like players were positioned to suit a game plan (some of them quite bizarrely) as opposed to us having a game plan to suit the players. Whether that's a sign of inability to adapt, blind determination to prove a system can work or whether it's being willing to take the short term pain for long term gain is open to debate and will be for a while yet until things clearly go one way or the other for us.
Like most, I can see what we are trying to achieve, and we get to see a bit more of it each week (despite injuries etc), so no panic here yet. Not writing off a top 6 by any means, but anyone who thought we were going to change the team so drastically and waltz easily to a top 6 this season is a little deluded. I very much see it as 1 step back to (hopefully) take 2 steps forward. If we do that in a single season...great, if it takes two...I can live with that.
As for comments about breaking up a team from last season that was capable of top 6....well, they clearly weren't capable as we failed to achieve it and some of those players had failed to achieve it on numerous occasions. We had persevered with "just about good enough" for long enough and change was needed in order to advance. As none of us have the ability to see the future, only time will tell whether or not the plan set in motion is right or wrong.
Bring on Killie....
With that logic I can only assume that Foran, Hayes, Esson, Tokley, Ross and Doran (oh and Hogg) should be dropped as thay were all part of a team that failed last season. Fecking SFA morons I would at least have some respect for them if could admit their faults and errors. As usual they are faultless and can do no wrong, ignorant cnuts.

I know this should of been put in the Other Football thread but it sort of concerns us.
I've read that he's going for an MRI scan on his ankle that Ian Black annihilated last season.
Could be good news for us if he's out. Without him Rangers would be nothing up-front.
Rosscoe and Hogg could easily beat the likes of Healy and Beattie.
Feeling optimistic about saturday now
I'm not so sure tbh, they hardly covered themselves in glory against the likes of Barrowman! Don't mind being wrong tho.

The problem is if we don't pull our socks up it doesn't matter if it is a two team SPL. Which it virtually is, or a 20 team SPL.
We will always be struggling.
The games I have seen this season, I think we are pathetic. My daughter came with me on Boxing day. Her reaction was " a waste of twenty quid" .
As she is a student the waste of £20 hurt.
We can' retain the ball, we can't pass to feet. We can't take corners, We can't take throw ins for love nor money. Our free kick taking is as bad as it gets.
Our midfield is none existent, so we have to boot the ball over their heads. In short in footballing terms it is primitive crap.
What are the coaches doing all week in training, I see better throw in takers in the park on Sunday mornings.
I was sent an email by this forum, to say , why have you not visited us, now you know why.
The supporters, are the worst I have ever seen. They are the quietest I have ever seen, unless they are berating the referee or telling the opposition manager to get back in his box, they seem incapable of understanding what is going on. Every time the ref blows in favour of the opps. They shout cheat or similar at the ref.
The team in defence stand off all the time ( closing down, seems anathema to them ) The ops attack can take pop shots all game long, with no challenge.
No wonder the team like it better away from home.
Of course I am new to the area, I gave ITC a chance, I now wonder why?
So Mr Doncaster do what you want, but from where I am standing you are peeing up brew as they say in my native Lancashire.
[Hi I wrote this lot above way back
I didn't expect anyone to take any notice, but there is such a thing as second season syndrome.
I expect either ICT or Dunfermline to be retegated this year. Because Dunfermline have just been promoted and will fight for every point I think ICT will miss out
I havent got a season ticket this year. Not prepared to be bored out of my mind for a second year running
Either learn to take throw ins or sign Rory Dilap when he becomes a free agent
Doubt if I shall visit this forum again

I've given up on the catering in the stadium, usually pop to Woodys for a late lunch before the game now, far more economical!
-
Yes he had a very poor game today and was rightly subbed, with Doran on we looked far more effective moving from midfield to attack. Lets keep it in perspective though I thought Gillet and even Tokley were pretty rotten today too. Most players, even Foran last season have a dip in form for whatever reason and the proof in the pudding will be in how Nick responds to it, chin up young man!
-
Hibs never deserved to win that not in a million years, neither did we though tbh. 3 or 4 great chances in or around the 6 yard box and we missed them all, if we don't sharpen up and take chances like that then we are going to struggle cos Hibs were pretty poor. That said we should have had a penalty. Hayes and Doran looked hungry in addition Tade and Foran worked hard. Thought Tokley and Gillet in particular looked sloppy, some of our passing was awful (as was Hibs')
Here's hoping players gel and sharpen up soon because on that showing, we are lacking sharpness at the back and someone to poach goals in the box.

0-1 hibs

Hibs goal chalked off for offside

Ross off Doran on

Looked to me like we shud have had a penalty for a handball linesman never gave it
-
We are looking a bit all over the place but there are flashes of good play. If TB is wanting us to move to a more fluid passing style of play a few of the players need to brush up on their passing skills cos there are far too many going astray!

Me and the missus, might take the baby she was good luck at the Septic game last season!
-
Heard there was gonna be a joint Granty and RD testy game (my dude is usually pretty on the ball lol) but as much as I would like that to happen I may be well off the the mark.
-
Think what I said was quite fair. If he don't wanna stay fair enough he's had loads of time to decide and at least then TB would know he had the cash tae spend on an alternative as the new season is fast approaching.

I'm guessing, very much guessing, that Grqnt bring released may have been due to wage demands? Merely surmising and guessing. Would live to know what happened.
Was nothing to do with wage demands what so ever I can assure u of that much at least.

He's known about the expiry date on his contract since he signed it. TB said before the end of last season that he wanted to keep him, so if he hasn't discussed this with his family etc and decided to stay by now quite frankly, cheerio. Personally I never rated that highly anyway but horses for courses I guess.

My missus and I were not going to get new STs, ?600 was just too much now that we have a wee one to pay for and the other half's on maternity. We were very fortunate that my parents surprised us by renewing or STs for a joint birthday, mothers & fathers day gift -from my daughter of course, lol. If it was cheaper we may well had renewed them anyway, times are hard and they don't look like getting any better, as much as I love my football it's still a luxury to me not a necessity and if it became too expensive it would have to go unfortunately.
