  1. Castlemaine XXXX, now that's a blast from the past. Disappeared from UK shelves a few years ago.
  2. Gabby speaks, the clubs listen and react immediately! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17304341
  3. A league of mostly part-time teams then?
  4. Liquidation followed by a "Rangers 2012" is a mind boggling situation that will have the SPL constitution and rulebook being analysed and no doubt rewritten. You are absolutely right that the SPL will have to find a way of admitting a "Rangers 2012" newco, and that it is an unprecedented opportunity to redress the balance of power. A Rangers 2012, debt free and with a massive fan base and stadium, could be created within a few weeks but will need a league to play in. When they come begging to the SPL for a place, the SPL will comprise just 11 members, only 1 of whom is in favour of the current weighting of income distribution to the top 2 teams. So the wee teams could surely win a vote 10-1 - however, what does the SPL constitution actually say regarding the required voting majority? Currently 11 votes are needed to push through a change, but is there provision for that figure to reduce if there are less than 12 members?
  5. When I saw the headline yesterday "Gers out of European competition" it struck me that that makes it 3 European exits in one season I don't think they would have been in administration yet if they had got a few million quid from a European run, but as it is they fell at the first hurdle to Malmo (Malmo!) in the Champions League and then parachuted into the Europa where they fell at the first hurdle to Maribor (Maribor!). To cap off a miserable run of cup defeats they also went out of the League cup to Falkirk (Falkirk!) and then the Scottish Cup at home to Dundee Utd. All in all it has really been one of those horrible anus thingies that their beloved Queen once talked about.
  6. Reading an article about how Sherman supposedly came up with the word, I note that more than 10 years prior to his song an American music hall singer called Gloria Parker wrote and recorded "Supercalafajalistickespeealadojus". There was a court case but she was unsuccessful in claiming breach of copyright because similar nonsense words had apparently been around for a long time previously.
  7. This is perhaps an unlikely scenario, but if Rangers are unable to complete the season I think all their league results would get erased. This would benefit us slightly as we have taken nothing off them this season. Killie on the other hand have taken 6 points off them and St Mirren 4, so both those teams would drop back to 27 points, same as us.
  8. County are more certain to be in next season's SPL than we are.
  9. Well spotted. I enjoy any sort of reminder of that victory, no matter how tenuous the link. In recognition of his contribution to ICT folklore, perhaps we should play the song over the tannoy on Saturday.
  10. Yngwie posted a topic in Caley Thistle
At Tannadice the other night ymip was grumbling that he hadn't seen us win in the last 10 games he's attended. I had a look back through the fixtures and I can trump that, 12 games without seeing a win. I don't think I'd ever missed an ICT game at East End Park but I couldn't make it to the cup replay and look what happened. Similarly, the only time I've ever missed us play at McDiarmid was at the end of last season and guess what, we won 3-0. There must be someone who brings worse luck than me. Surely?
  11. I certainly wouldn't want ICT to be playing them at the moment.
  12. Because the adminstrators get £585 an hour and are in no rush at all
  13. I thought Tansey was pretty good in the 2nd half last night - drove forward a few times and picked out some good passes. Probably got a bollocking at half time.
  14. Wylde and Celik volunteered for redundancy, the first rats to jump off the Whytanic.
  15. This is indeed a tough one. Every player who showed some good qualities also did their fair share of bad things too. Can the poll be cancelled due to a lack of suitable candidates?
  16. I'd like to see Ross rested for a few games.
  17. Nobody's ever denied his talent and it certainly looks like Utd are onto a good thing. But last night he completely failed to get the better of a pretty inexperienced teenage defender.
  18. During the first half when things were pretty bad on the pitch, I counted 83 fans in the upper tier, but couldn't see lower tier which is where the singers were. So in total I'd guess we had 100 fans at this one, which is more than I would have expected for a Monday night televised game that we were certain to lose. It probably looked like fewer fans because we were thinly spread out across the whole away stand. Within a minute after kick off when 3 of us were still standing eating our pies (which were stuck to the foil and falling apart btw) we got the obligatory visit from a steward. Then a while later a lady standing in the back row of the stand, with no other fans within at least 10 feet of her, was quoted the health and safety nonsense but stood her ground, literally, for the rest of the game.
  19. I would guess that he's not happy with the proposed U20 league. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17267221
  20. I find it's generally best to assume that IHE is being sarcastic unless there is good evidence to the contrary!
  21. Perhaps it is too cheap, but once in a while it's surely good to do something affordable to everyone. I'd like to think though that the club have got their sums right on this. For starters its a pretty unattractive fixture, and the attractive offer will no doubt entice some people to buy match tickets who would otherwise not have bothered going at all. The actual cost to the club of the giveaways (pies, stovies and match programme) is only a few quid a head, so they should make a profit on the event itself. And then you've got bar takings pre and post match. Kerching!
  22. I don't think I've ever gone to Tannadice with as little expectation of taking something from Utd as I'm feeling at the moment. We've lost our last 4 games against them, and they have some serious attacking threats who are on top form at the moment. Utd are on an extremely impressive unbeaten run including a 2-0 win at Ibrox, a 5-1 at Perth, 4-0 v Killie and 2-0 at Hearts. After the Rangers debacle my confidence is pretty low, but I suppose with ICT anything can happen. In summary I'd be delighted with a draw.
  23. Never mind ghosts, it's the vampires Proctor needs to worry about - well, he's always getting it in the neck!
