  1. Only managers and players are usually on fixed term contracts. I’d expect he is now just an employee of the club on the same type of employment contract as most of us have ie no end date, it rolls on forever unless there is resignation, dismissal (in accordance with proper procedures and employment law, and with a specified notice period) or the role is made redundant. I would expect a CEO to be the same.
  2. We made 8 changes yesterday, and had a central midfield of 2 inexperienced teenagers (talented though they are). Arbroath took the competition more seriously and fielded a strong side. To me the result didn’t matter much. What does concern me a lot is that defence was a pretty strong line up but still looked all over the place at times and individuals were far too easily beaten when challenging for the ball. Very worrying. A vulnerable defence is a sure fire way to get relegated.
  3. Gotta disagree with that. We should play our strongest team in league and Scottish Cup matches. This diddy cup is the ideal opportunity to rest some players who play every other match, and more importantly give fringe players and youngsters some experience and a chance to show what they can do in a competitive game. If you can’t do that in this fixture, when can you do it? Some of the squad players took their chance, and in the highlights Cammy stood out in particular.
  4. I think every game on this bad run has included a costly, stupid blunder by at least one of the players.
  5. Personally I’m glad to see squad players getting a chance and quite a few first team regulars being rested, as I don’t really care about this tournament (until the final, that’s different!) We’ve clearly gone with a strong defence though, in the hope that they can get to know each other a bit more.
  6. I’ve thought that too for a long time, he’s there waiting in the wings as the most realistic (ie affordable) option.
  7. Sadly though, the sporting fairies can only grant one wish per weekend and we’ve used ours up.
  8. Yep, the consultation has been scrapped, as predicted.
  9. Nobody wants this and it won’t happen. But it’s just bizarre. A proposed consultation from a transport organisation nobody has ever heard of, about introducing a voluntary code of practice that involves a club’s nominated person agreeing in advance that the supporters bus can stop at a specified pub? Who on earth thought this is a good idea?
  10. At the other end of the pitch, nobody has scored fewer than us.
  11. Looking at the league table, something surprised me - only 2 teams have conceded fewer goals than us, even though it’s the blunders at the back that have been costing us games.
  12. So just a normal home game then.
  13. Disappointing not to have held on to the lead.
  14. Nikola Ujdur is certainly a more exotic (and more unpredictable) signing than we have been used to in these Championship years. Hopefully he gets his work visa! As far as I can recall the last time we brought someone over from Australia was about 20 years ago, a forward called Adriano Pellegrino who was on trial one summer but didn’t get an offer. He must’ve been good though, he went on to play for 20 different clubs!
  15. I seem to remember Sam Pearson was doing pretty well too until his loan was cut short due to a close family bereavement.
  16. Boyes actually seems a decent enough signing given the constraints we face, but he’s not the experienced and commanding Mann/Dods/Munro style of defender we’ve been longing for.
  17. 22 and Livingston but you were on the right lines!
  18. There are some utterly mind boggling statements on this thread.
  19. Sounds like that loan deal is very likely based on articles online today in the P&J and Courier.
  20. The margins are so tight, all our defeats in this run have been by one goal. What seems increasingly obvious is that the defence is not strong enough and we need to make at least one signing, and that signing has to be someone who is better than what we currently have.
  21. Even if we could sack Dodds and bring in the likes of Mourinho or Guardiola, they could not get this squad promoted.
  22. Just like both our previous league matches, I had this down in the ‘take a draw’ category. Expected us to lose but thought we’d be more competitive than this score suggests.
  23. It’s a shame he had so many injury problems here, he looked a decent defender when I saw him. Good luck at Gloucester. Does his departure make it more likely that we will bring in another defender?
  24. Good to have our first trophy of the season
  25. Ta for the updates.
