An unsurprising defeat away to a Premier league side. 1-0 not too bad considering this was by no means our strongest side, but the injury list is a bit concerning.

At present I think we have a weaker team than last season, whilst the league we are in has stronger teams than last season, so we still need to strengthen if we are going to make the playoffs this season. I dream that we can boost our transfer and wage budget thanks to a Saudi club coming in with a £10m bid for Austin Samuels. The money being thrown around over there is madness!

On the same day we are signing a squad player, Ayr have signed a game changer and match winner in Aiden McGeady.

They haven’t gone bust or anything like that, just withdrawing from Scotland and various other countries in (hopefully) an orderly fashion. This might involve honouring existing contracts or, more likely, trying to sell their rights on to another broadcaster.

The pics of him yesterday do seem to match ones on Harry Lodovica, and even the black headband matches. Aveley FC had a home friendly v Dagenham and Redbridge yesterday so I hoped to confirm he wasn’t in their squad but they didn’t publish team lines anywhere online as far as I can see. A club with worse communication and social media than us?!

Whilst googling for anything on Lafferty I stumbled across some pics of his rather attractive wife - she was wearing a football top but appeared to have carelessly forgotten to put the shorts on. If she dresses like that at our stadium the poor girl will likely catch a chill.

Was carrying injuries while there, it seems. I hope we’d be very thorough in assessing the fitness of a player like that - a trial period would make sense.
