Inverness CT -V- St Johnstone - Premiership Play-Off
These Friday night matches have been pretty incredible. They often are when we are involved, for whatever reason. Arbroath get a 2 player head start, SaintJohnstone get a 2 goal head start. Yet here we are going into the play off final 2nd leg with a decent chance.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet but our first goal should not have stood. Played should’ve stopped for a head knock and also Samuels was offside (not 2 yards offside like Callum Davidson says, but a wee bit offside). About time we got a wee bit of good fortune from the match officials.

Dodds admitted post match that he’d got the shape wrong (stating the bleeding obvious perhaps, but at least he didn’t make excuses)

We just look out of our depth here. It’s more one sided so far than any game I can recall for many years.

Sky missed out on rights for the Champions League final and naturally decided that this was the next best thing.

I’m trying to remember, didn’t we once have a penalty shoot out there before, maybe early season League cup about 15 years ago, which I think we won? Vague recollection of a young Vigurs scoring one then running up to the Arbroath fans, but I might be getting matches mixed up.

Yeah that looked a really nasty one for Shane, hopefully he’s back in time for the start of next season.

Both reds looked very appealable to me. I can see why Devine was deemed to have committed a foul, albeit a soft one, due to having his arm round the attacker as he fell, but the ball had already been headed towards Ridgers waiting arms and it was not a clear goal scoring opportunity. Duffy won the ball clean and fair and the ref was conned by the player’s reaction. Edit - sorry hadn’t realised this was a second yellow, thought he’d got a straight red.

We started terribly but eventually got going before half time. Better second half with a few great chances to score. Draw was probably a fair result overall but I’d say it’s advantage Arbroath at this stage.

The traditional title of a ‘Sportsman’s Dinner’ isn’t a very inclusive one and I don’t think it gets used much these days. But you kind of knew what to expect, jokes and language that you wouldn’t get on tv. I too saw Dick Campbell speaking at one, and in his very first sentence he dropped the C bomb (and not ‘County’, although that followed soon after as he’d recently been sacked by them supposedly for getting them to the top of League 1 with the wrong type of football).

So does Liam Polworth have the honour of being part of the Dunfermline team that got relegated from the Championship, whilst in the same season getting a Championship league winners medal from Kilmarnock?

Yes and it is certainly a blow to his hope of getting the Scotland job.

John Hughes has led Dunfermline, including our former players Polworth, Donaldson and Chalmers to relegation down to League 1. This despite having one of the biggest budgets in the Championship. Pretty incredible really, but I guess he has previous, having got Raith relegated a few seasons ago.

Their promotion reportedly triggers an additional transfer fee to Celtic of either £1m or £2m depending which paper you believe. Hopefully our own sell on clause with Celtic entitles us to a small percentage of that. Well, hopefully it entitles us to a large percentage of that, but even 5% or 10% of it would be gratefully received given our poor financial position.
