  1. Home and happy! On the whole a comfortable win and unlucky not to have won by a bigger margin. Alonge's run and shot that hit the post from almost nothing deserved a goal, he obviously thought he was Ryan Giggs for a second and Robertson was very unlucky hitting the bar. Bavidge and especially Stewart were standouts for me though. Let's not get too carried away though, Peterhead were poor and never really ever threatened and we looked comfortable but it throws down a marker and puts us where we want to be while keeping confidence high. Great away support and fantastic reception at full time as well. On a side note, I, too, have criticism of the referee, especially the first half and on any other given day, some decisions may have cost us and we're talking basic ones. However, I won't dwell on that.
  2. You'll struggle to see a better free kick than than all season, take a bow Alfie Stewart. Referee has been terrible, some baffling decisions but we'll take the soft free kick. Need to be quicker down the wings, no point in setting up wide then passing in and back. Alonge needs to drop deeper and make himself available more but they are there for the taking. Little bit more intensity and killer balls and we'll open them up more.
  3. For me, the equation is straight forward: win all our games and we win the league, anything less, and we then rely on others. Yes, that should be the outset all the time but it's even more imperative now. With that in mind, it's a must win game even to show Stenny that we're still on top. They'll by far be the happier of the two from Saturday and feel the pressure is back on us, so we need to flip it round again. Points in the bag by far outweigh what ifs and maybes so let's go, get the win and push on
  4. Step 1 - click on the more tab to the right, shown below, then click on Features followed by Prediction League Step 2 - if you have registered log in using username and password, if not then click on new user and follow the instructions Step 3 - click on My Profile to bring up the below then ticked the box beside this seasons league on the joined Leagues tab, followed by Join After that, to predict, you click on My Predictions to bring uo the fixtures for that week and the drop down changes from week to week. Excuse my predictions 😄
  5. Another start to the season which means @Gringo is running his Prediction League again but it needs participants. It's really simple to play, all you do is predict the score from the weeks League One games and Gringo very handily has a system where it works out your score(s) after he enters in the results. Link is below: SPFL Prediction League - CaleyThistleOnline You might have to register, I can't remember as I joined so long ago, but with the work that goes into it, it deserves to have more people playing it. Once registered/logged in, you need to go to your profile setting and tick the box for the correct season then submit. Then the fixtures will be visible. Go on, give it a go. (Mods, same as the other, I'll remove after a week or so)
  6. Hi all Leaving this on here for a week to see if I can entice anyone new to take part in this seasons NAPs competition (Mods, I'll remove next week) Get yourself over to the betting forum (Link below) and have a look: it's free; it's easy to take part; all you do is choose a weekly result and I work out rest including the points and most of all get annoyed like the rest of us when your prediction doesn't come up. It's free betting but with points instead of your own pounds and no one loses anything, well, except face lol. Betting Forum - CaleyThistleOnline
  7. He's simply a 🛎️🔚, not worthy of being included in the discussion anymore.
  8. I think we can close this thread now 🤣😊
  9. I've never been one for celebrating survival as I'm a firm believer that you're there for a footballing reason and it's not something to celebrate however this one is different, so much more riding on it and the two biggest cheers of the season in our house came when Dumbarton went 1 up then 2 up. Fantastic achievement for the players and staff, to rally after going into admin, deal with the cuts, the disappointment, the furore surrounding the club and turn in a points tally that they have since going into admin is superb. If I'm correct, three teams didn't achieve that points tally over the whole season, maybe four. Whether we're full time or not doesn't matter as you can only deal with what's in front of you, even to pick themselves up from disappointing results and bounce back shows a big element of resilience and I can't applaud them enough. Simply superb 👏👏👏
  10. He was holding his lower back in the first half a few times and seemed to be his back they were working on when he went down before coming off. The bench had shouted over once or twice in the first half, I'm guessing to check on him so wonder if it was an underlying issue, hopefully just a pull or strain. Thought it was a very scrappy game not helped by the referee who seemed to blow for any little thing to the point my daughter was asking what the fouls were for and she's 10. The near side assistant wasn't any better, totally arrogant tbh. A couple of times I forgot I was sitting in the main stand and was a bit vocal towards them. It wasn't a 2v0 game, nor did I think they created enough to win, one of those where either side would have been happy with nicking it. My general impression was that if we could have got the ball in behind them for Louis to run onto, he would have had a far better chance of getting in on goal. Instead everything was played in front of them for us to try and get through and it generally didn't work, we needed to mix it up a little. The one time I remember a ball being flashed across in the second half, Billy was inches from the header.
  11. My first initial thought was that it would be some kind of quick service/fast food style franchise that would work hand-in-hand with the stadium opening hours/business model that way appealing more to the type of service that would be easily achievable on a fast basis such as matchday. People don't want to be sitting about for food as such. If it is a sit-down fuss then I think I agree with your assessment above.
  12. This 💯 Thank you to DF, GB and SG for their hard work and time put in at the club and wish them the best in the future. I'm sure they'll find equal if not better employment elsewhere within the football world. I'm not best placed at present to offer any further opinions especially on DF as it would be ill-placed and I've said a lot already. It's the hard workers behind the scenes that will find it harder and tougher in the coming days, weeks and months and are so often overlooked in these situations. It doesn't pay for the new outlets to focus on the unsung behind the scenes staff which is why they'll all gush about DF.
  13. Sadly, the first employees to get let go are the hard workers behind the scenes who run the football club from day to day. The ones that everyone forgets about that need their jobs the most. Now I'm not saying that players, managers and coaches don't need their jobs, of course they do, but they have agents who can help them find further employment. They are almost always on the higher end of the payscale at the club and are somewhat protected by league rules and the Scottish PFA so are harder to oust. It must be an administrators nightmare knowing there's obvious outlays to reduce costs but the only way they can be freed is by moving them on or coming to a mutual agreement. Players and managers won't leave unless they have other employment elsewhere. Not as easy as making the receptionist redundant for instance. I suppose the biggest issue for a club our size is, where do those obvious cost cuttings come from as I can't imagine we have an abundance of staff behind the scenes. I hardly see DF as the type of person who'll step up and take strips home to wash or hoover the reception carpet when there's nearly no staff left and jobs to do.
  14. Totally agree and whatever personnel/players we do retain or have at our disposal, must be fully committed to starting almost from scratch and looking forward. On the pitch it starts with the manager and for me DF needs to go. We need someone who is forward thinking, someone who'll set out with an attractive forward thinking style of play, be open to progressing both personally and progressing players with a 2 season minimum plan in place. Whether we can avoid relegation or not, we need someone who portrays a belief that we can, not someone who outwardly states we can't simply just to save his own skin by being able to say at the end of the season 'well I told you so meaning I haven't failed' - he's already trying to save his own credibility, whether he has any left or not. If we survive administration in any form, it needs to be treated as a complete reset, a new starting point with measuring points 1, 2, 3, 5yrs down the line. A playing team, coaching staff included, that has no negativity what so ever. It should be about fighting for everything that's left this season and building foundations for being in League 1 with a League 2 budget. If we go down then so be it, we're already working to that budget. If we stay up, it's a bonus. Anything right now is a bonus but sadly DF is not.
  15. Daily Mail - other than the Daily Sport is the lowest form of tabloid journalism going, on par with The Sun - not worthy of my time Scott Gardiner - lowest form of upper level management personnel in the market, serial liar, incompetent to the core, vicious, vendictictive and rotten through and through - not worthy of my time Put together - I wouldn't even read this is if it were on a roll of loo roll and I needed to whittle away the time in the toilet due to a bad bout of constipation.
