  1. http://www.nononsensefootball.com/hughes-leaves-hartlepool/ Who cares about the Hartlepool job, They were doing rubbish when he took over and he couldn't manager to steer them away from relegation. Butcher took over half way through the season and got us relegated, why give a manager 6 months? Its clubs like that who will always struggle to be as stable as teams like ICT Jeff cares.

  3. I thought his assistant was Boo-boo ? If he's smarter than the average coach he'll do
  4. JOHN HUGHES is among the names being linked with the Inverness Caley Thistle hotseat. The former Falkirk and Hibs manager has been out of work since leaving Hartlepool in May after failing to prevent relegation to League Two. It is understood there has been communication between the two parties as the Highlanders seek to piece together a shortlist of candidates for interviews next week. But with so many names linked with the post Inverness don’t expect to reveal Terry Butcher’s successor soon. In fact they have revealed that youth coaches Duncan Shearer and Scott Kellachar are being primed to take charge of first-team matters next weekend. Hughes aside, Kenny Shiels, Csaba Laszlo, George Burley, Craig Levein, John Robertson and Paul Hartley have all been linked with the post, while the club revealed yesterday that applications had been received from as far afield as Italy, Spain and South America. Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron said: “We’ve been inundated with applications for the job. Contrary to suggestions, there is no deadline for applying. “The board has decided to take its time and no one has been contacted yet about the vacancy. We will focus on drawing up a shortlist at some point next week before setting about conducting interviews. *** Not good enough for Hartlepool United yet our best shot. Blinkin eck **
  5. I heard Buster Keeton , Chergar and Rin Tin Tin were in the running Only one winner there Lord Lucan turned the job down Maybe after yesterdays sackings three more hopefuls may apear
  6. Regarding the comments on Watkins I have which is "my wont to be", controversial. I have watch wing play since 1949 and I was a winger myself many, many, moons ago. Not keen on touch line hugging wingers. It's very old fashioned concept The modern idea is to have right or left sided midfielders who work in support and defence. ( known as box to box midfielders ) The idea is to have overlapping fullbacks or wing backs . I feel that wingers that hang around waiting for a pass is a very specialised job. These players need good positional sense and extreme pace. . So unless you have a Valencia, Giggs, Lennon or Wallcott. I feel we should stick to a working right or left midfielders working with overlapping fullbacks. Sometimes a winger doing little defensive work is a bit like playing with 10 men.
  7. Nick Ross took a smack to the face which resulted in a broken tooth and a burst lip, but he was in good spirits after the game and a dentist somewhere's about to make a few quid. Completely off Topic I see the incomparable Carl Froch did a bit of mouth thumping tonight
  8. Did you not think Foran was running the show ? I felt he went over to sort out the substitution, Foran in his anchor man role is getting more and more like Vinny Jones every match Tremendous performance from the skipper
  9. Not a bad result though for a rudderless ship ;-) I think the understatement of the financial year I see Foran had to go over and sort out the substitution. he was definitely the man at the wheel
  10. Tomorrow we play one of our greatest rivals, without a rudder on the ship. It will not do.
  11. A new managers will have to improve the bench , We cant expect the first 11 to play the whole of the season.
  12. For goodness sake Will the board pull their finger out and appoint a manager The Queen Mother in her castle once sang " Why are we waiting " when her dinner was not on time Time we got a manager, all this phissing about is getting me down for one
  13. phonetic bad spelling is my middle name, I am old
  14. I won't boo Butcher Returning heroes don't always get booed. When Strachan returned to Man U with Leeds he was booed off the ground, I felt was a bit harsh. When Sammy McElroy returned to Old Trafford with Bury in a cup match he got a standing ovation. When Dave Beasant took the field at Wimbledon for Southampton the ground rose as one man and cheered him all the way to the Southampton goal. Mind you he did win the FA cup for them with his penalty save against Liverpool. Personal choice at the end of the day.
  15. I suppose his scouting notes are the intellectual property of ICT but it depends on his contract. Scouts I suppose are on some sort of retainer.
  16. Nail on the head. Managers are expensive. On top of that we are far north not everybody's cup of tea if you live in the south. Being 2 and a hafts hours drive north of Edinburgh must put a lot off. I think we are just a stepping stone. Low wage and poor facilities to quote Butcher, will not attract the likes of Levine . I really think we have to look locally, maybe not too far away. I have no animosity to Terry and Maurice they have served Inverness well. they deserve a chance at a more fashionable club.
  17. Hartley Robertson who next? Chivas
  18. I saw a game on T V this weekend between Bradford City and Coventry City Two managers who I think could get blood out of a stone. That's the sort of guy we need.
  19. No chance of this happening. The club rightly have said if you are interested then send a cv. Who does he think he is, Graeme Souness! It is similar to the Warnock thing, Lazlo is reminding people that he is out there looking for a job. Just wondering "what's the Warnock thing"?
  20. Jimmy Nicholl Won Just the League cup, with Raith Rovers as manager Took them to Europe. Also played for Man U and Rangers and 70 odd Northern Ireland caps. not a bad CV for a number 2. I am also told he is a really nice person. Remember the quote "dancing in the streets of Raith".

  22. The problem is money, The owners have a 100 grand compo, plus whatever Terry and Maurice were paid, Surely they could entice a decent manager to the frozen North. I don't think we should look too long term, if they could get somebody decent in to the end of the season maybe.
  23. There must be a bright side blowed if I can see it. Unless the new guys Dad owns an oil well Will Jimmy Nichol be surplus at Hibs seems a decent No 2?
  24. According to Sky Sports Terry arrived at the Hibs training ground early this morning Jimmy left not long after. Are Jimmy Nichols days numbered.at Hibs . Is he the same Jimmy Nichol who won the League cup with Raith.? Could be a good No 2 at our place I wonder http://www.hibs.net/showthread.php?270010-Jimmy-Nicholl-s-role-in-this-mess
