There was no prospect him of him staying anyway but, for me, his decision to sit in the home stand and accept hospitality in the Hibs boardroom at a match against the team who are effectively still his employers has burned his bridges. I must say that that decision surprised me, I thought Terry would be more respectful to the club who took a chance on him when his stock and reputation was at a low ebb. Yes my thoughts exactly, I also now feel that his turning down the Barnsley job because "he had work to finish here" was all a crock and it was down to the deal there not suiting him for some reason

I wonder after his behaviour yesterday how many would want Butcher to stay now, personally after been very down about his departure at the start of the week I just want to see the back off him now.

If Mo does take the job and stay it will be interesting to see what camp Steve goes with , potentially a hammer blow for Butcher??

Reporter on Sky soccer Saturday said he spoke to Butcher on way into match and he said he was a neutral today.

It's a very strange one and I wonder if Hibs didn't happen to be put opponents today would it all have been sorted out by now? Afraid I don't take any comfort from those that say he is staying, he is off and I just wish it was all over now and we could move forward

I was also proved wrong, I thought it was a bad appointment at the time going by his previous managerial record. I am happy I have been proved wrong and I think that considering our position against budget is our most successful manager to date and if he does go I hope it is the right way and he can leave with the reputation as an ICT legend which I think he deserves. Largely agree. Turned out to be a much better manager than I thought he would be but, in my opinion, not quite a club legend although that would change if he stayed until the end of the season at least and landed us our first major national trophy or a place in Europe or, ideally, both. First manager to take us to the top six makes him a legend in my eyes particularly on a shoestring budget but agree Europe or a cup win would elevate that status

Perhaps I am reading it with my pessimist glasses on but I feel Butcher is not ruling Hibs out, quotes such as "I don't want to want to answer questions if its all if's buts and maybes" . Perhaps he is just using this all as a tool for contract negotiations but I will be glad when that new contract is signed and this thread goes the dame way as the Barnsley one.

I would be very surprised if Butcher does go if he does not take his backroom team with him and possibly with a couple of players in the window, just hope he remembers his valuation of McKay
