  1. Friday evening could not be worse for me.  I really wanted to come up for this game but I have a function on the Friday night I can't get out of now.  I'd even tentatively earmarked suitable flights for both the Sat and Sun thinking that it would be on either of these dates.  Won't even be able to watch it on TV now.

Thanks for that. I wondered where he was now. What level are Warrington at? Good they are close to home for him. With our coaching rumours, wonder if we’d ever have a role for him??

Warrington Town play in the Northern Premier league (Premier Division), 7th tier of English football.  I believe David had expressed an interest in coaching whilst he was with us, but it obviously did not happen for him with us. A pity imo. But who knows what will happen in the future?   I actually thought he had retired as I had not seen or heard anything about him since he left Wrexham.  It was only by accident that I spotted he had scored on Saturday. I was actually checking the scores in that league looking for someone else!!

  3. I remember the Islands hotel too.  My old Dad was head gardener there  before I can even remember.  We stayed in the cottage next door, called 'Willowbank'.   Hotel at that time was owned/run by the Cummings family.  We moved from there further along the road (towards Holm Mills) to the Carol Nursing home  where he took up a similar position. There we lived in a converted stable block behind the nursing home, backing onto Drummond Crescent.

New it well back around 1959/60 when I worked there as a general 'dogsbody' during college holidays.  Was it Don MacKenzie who ran it in those days?  Also visited it many times in later years when visiting Inverness to see my old Mum.  She loved being taken to the Scottish show it hosted throughout the summers.  Saw some good 'turns' there, Andy Stewart, Colin Stuart, Calum Kennedy to name just 3, but my personal favourites were the Marlettes (Bob & Maggie).

  5. Again, during 2019, I kept my spreadsheets of ex ICT goal scorers going (perhaps not quite as carefully as I once did!).  Nevertheless, I found 74 scores achieving 450 goals amongst them.  The stand out clearly is Nat Austin who scored 40 in 25 games  in 5 months, for Kelty Hearts. Amazing, even at that level.  Here is my list :-
