  1. How about CC as general manager/director of football and RF can run the Centenary Club. Not being totally serious with that, but it's the sort of thing the club would do! RF needs to go, I suspect he is losing/lost the dressing room (or some of it anyway) with his comments-particularly the 'bad apples' one..think I read that Fisher said something along the lines of 'I don't see any bad apples, just a group of hard working lads' - not a word for word quote, think I read it online from one of the newspapers. Whoever made the comment about RF trying to emulate TB's style was spot on, I think..need a change of style & I suspect the new manager might be a left field choice. Hartley - possibly, although if he was that good, he would have got the job before. Machine Dods - good choice, but may not have the contacts re finding players. Done very well at Brechin. Anyone know what Paul Sheerin's doing? Was at Arbroath, I think? Has Claudio Ranieri got a job yet - could do a Leicester with us and win the Premiership season 18/19!! (Time to lay off the absinthe now...)
  2. Nothing wrong with 'premiership cast-offs' - my take on that would be players who are hungry & have a point to prove. Dennis Wyness a good example of a 'premiership cast-off (Aberdeen), he worked out not too bad! Need to get the Managerial situation sorted out asap though, to get on with building a squad!! Have a feeling RF may still be involved at some level...but that's on a different thread!
  3. Paul Quinn is definetly worth considering, didn't realise RC had released him. Decent player who would probably still be a Don if not for family reasons-wouldn't have the usual issue of 'attracting players to move up to Inverness' & as for 'County cast offs'? Afraid we will be playing at a lower level than the mob from the other side of the bridge now, like it or not! Hugely encouraged by that quote from Fisher - I would love him to stay but wouldn't blame him if he didn't. Wouldn't give up on Draper either..again, who would blame him if he left? Believe Vigurs has stated previously he would stay if we went down (recent Caleyjags tv pre match interview), if previous comment about Tremarco staying is true, that's great news too - a combatitive hard working plater willing to make tackles would be vital for the Championship. Have hopes that Ebbe may be decent at this level-always a big ask stepping up from part time football. Mulraney worth keeping too-certainly playing in the Championship will toughen him up (although think he's better at riding tackles than before) & he's not the finished article-if he can learn to pass/cross,he'd be deadly! As for Boden...well!!! Who knows, may not be a dud! Would keep McNaughton if we can, although wages may be an issue-great experience but worth breaking the bank for? Pretty much agree with the rest of the comments re who we keep/punt
  4. I've always had an ambition to go to Cappielow - just want to see if it's as 'atmospheric' as I've heard....my Sister in Law stays in Brechin,so that's 2 away trips sorted out (if Brechin get promoted)!
  5. I reckon that will be the case too-who knows! Suggested Barry Smith on another thread-working part time at east fife just now,did a decent job getting dundee promoted,I seem to remember. Definetly NOT McGhee-or Butcher! Wouldn't mind Hartley...will have a point to prove after being given the boot by dundee. Noticed big Darren Dods is doing well at Brechin-big step up from part time though.
  6. Couldn't agree more - we are heading down anyway (bar a minor miracle) so lets just get to the end of a disastrous season & take stock then. Just need to get behind the team now.
  7. How about Barry Smith? Working part time at East Fife & managed to get Dundee promoted? Certainly wouldn't be against Charlie as DofF, didn't disagree with his recent comments, kniws the club inside out & we did play good football when he was the gaffer. Paul Hartley I would welcome with open arms too, although there was a rumour that he was offered the job last time & knocked it back (probably a load of guff though) & Yogi was appointed.. No point in hashing over previous poor decisions-hindsight is a wonderful thing! I remember being glad when Dundee Utd were rebuffed for Yogi - hindsight? Wrong decision!
  8. A bit concerned as to what sort of a squad we will have next season..not sure how many of the current squad will be here.. Goalkeeper-not sure if OFW will be here, maybe cammy mackay? Esson has not been convincing lately & must be considering retiring to coach full time.. Defence - can see raven & warren being here, hopefully tremarco will be around. Probably brad mckay too. Would be great if mcnaughton signs on but not sure if he would (or the club could afford to). Also horner might be around (pending other issues of course....). Not sure if celtic would loan out mccart again. Laing would be worth signing if we have the cash too. Midfield - finding a replacement for tansey - not easy but a priority! Should have vigurs, polworth & , hopefully, draper. And mulraney, of course. Hopefully doran will be back from injury as well. Strikers - sign fisher up!! We might have just fisher & boden next season (who knows). Maybe time for ebbe to make a mark? Worried, as last time we went down, we had a good base to build from (rooney, hayes, etc) - not convinced we have the knowhow to build a team like that again, or the management (but thats another topic...!). Hopefully there are some gems in the youth squad (that will probably end up playing for elgin when we let them go..). Or some loan deals as well?
  9. Definetly-red white & blue is reminiscent of a certain other team..glad we have kept the stripes though. Hate the collar though, have never figured out WHY football tops need a collar anyway! I think I'm the only person who likes the current away top-nice simple collar & I like the plain 'vanilla' shade, classy (unlike some of the team performance...). Personal favourite is the plain black/red trim top we had several years ago (the one that they put the fans names on..will wear it next Sat for luck!)- did cost me £100, mind!
  10. Is he? Hope not! Think if the board need to bite the bullet & pay BR off then - unless Yogi takes him to Raith Rovers (which would have happened by now, I suppose, if it was on the cards). Time for RF to assert himself & tell the board if he wants MM to be his assistant!
  11. My thoughts too - it's not that I dislike RF as manager, I just don't think he has the experience (he has said as much himself, I think) & MM might just be that experienced hand that RF needs, given that they know each other well & it's obvious that RF has a lot of time & respect for MM. Think RF/MM could be a decent management team next season, whatever happens (will take a minor miracle if we are a premier league team, but there is still hope..not much, but it's there...)! If BR only has a contract until end of this season, think I would just pay him remainder of his wages & let him look after his garden for next few weeks...
  12. Personally,I think it's a great appointment..well respected coach & good backup for RF. I've never been convinced by BR as assistant manager & MM is someone that RF knows well & worked with before. Wouldn't be suprised to see MM as assistant to RF next season, whatever happens, particularly if BR is out of contract end of this season. Also, MM will hopefully help tighten up the defence-would help if we didn't keep losing soft goals! Not a 'magic bullet' but a shrewd appointment. Think we need to back the team just niw, as opposed to torchlight protests - although the concerns/complaints are legitimate ones..
