  1. I'm not particularly happy with the price either, but I WILL renew (at a 10% 'early bird' discount') as I support the club & want to do my bit to help them out & get back to the premiership asap! I have never managed to make it to all the home games, due to being a shift worker - I would probably be cheaper in the long run paying per game. I usually get to, roughly, 60% of the home games. But I will support the club through thick & thin, whatever happens. Some acknowledgement from the board re recent bad decisions would have been good - a 'mea culpa' statement! However, I can totally understand that fans aren't happy & imho I would rather have seen a reduction to try & boost the sales. Also, extending the free season tickets to U16 would have been a smart move...
  2. I always assumed he had a fall out with Yogi & this was a face saving way of leaving - but, given his history as a player, I could believe that Latapy didn't pull his weight! He was some player though (not that that is relevant, mind).
  3. Have just been reading online that Brian Rice is managing things as he is the most senior coach left at the club & has been dealing with the players leaving/being offered contracts. So Brian Rice is, in effect, caretaker manager. Make of that what you will...
  4. A large part of that was down to tactics & the midfield being bypassed - certainly against Hamilton, accies just ran right through the midfield. The players underachieved last season -there's no doubt about that & I'm heartened that they are motivated to stay & put that right.
  5. Have just been reading an article online (Daily Ranger-sorry, Daily Record) that Brian Rice is the most senior coach & is the person who is managing the clearout.... Make of that what you will
  6. Think Sheerin is the favourite so far...
  7. Who knows...think we have a decent back line anyway..McKay,Tremarco,Warren,Raven,McNaughton(perhaps)-not much cover there though.. Still would have liked Meekings & Laing...they are definetly a loss.. We need a striker...suprised Ebbe has gone!
  8. Does BR still have a job? Doing what? Seriously doubt the board will tell our new manager that he has to have BR as an assistant..
  9. 100% correct, with the caveat of 'when fit'...didn't think he was, just now? Thought he would maybe take a short term deal & get fit again. He has had little game time recently. Will be sorely missed, though..
  10. Seens pretty clear to me - reasonably happy with the squad we appear to have (particularly Draper), suprised OFW hasn't left (with a view to selection for Wales). Gutted that Fisher has gone, although don't blame him at all. Shame about Meekings leaving & I'm slightly suprised that Ebbe has gone - though he had the potential to shine in the championship. Guess we will be relying on Scott Boden as striker then... Solid back line, though - no worries there. Midfield - decent there too. As said before, would LOVE to see a fully fit Doran tear up the championship, along with Mulraney. Maybe we should play Carl Tremarco as an out & out striker!!
  11. I wouldn't be suprised in Meekings isn't away - great player but has had a horrendous run of injuries. Bit mystified as to why most people here are down on mcnaughton - it was hardly his fault he pucked up a bad achillies injury, a fully-fit mcnaughton would have made a difference last season (as would a fully fit meekings).
  12. I despair, I really do - WHO is at the club to make decisions re contracts, etc - are we going to wait until other clubs have taken some of these players! You can hardly blame the players if they have accepted other offers. Can't we even have someone with a basic football knowledge to try & sort some sort of a team out? The Betfred cup starts soon! Even if Charlie Christie was doing this on an interim basis until permanent appointments are made - he does have football knowledge!
  13. It's a very hard one, think appointing a manager is hit or miss - Ian Murray is a great example. Makes me slightly wary about Darren Dods (although he's jyst signed a new 2yr deal with Brechin anyway). NO to Butcher or ANY other previous manager (unless CC ends up doing it on a caretaker basis, just to get a team together for now until we appoint someone).
  14. Brewster 1st time around was a success (mainly due to him playing, methinks) - if he hadn't been, we wouldn't have taken him back (wish we hadn't, to be fair). We played good football under CC, who I liked as a manager - it wasn't lack of success that caused him to leave, just the pressures of the job. You've also missed my point about how the new manager will relate to the general manager - an experienced jobber wouldn't be attracted to this setup, it is something that should have been done last season to support RF, but that's in the past now. You also forgot about Robbo - his 1st manaferial job was with us & I think he was reasonably successful...!
  15. That's my thoughts too - did think that they may reduce slightly, but given other threads on here about donations, this seems like a good way to give the club finance for going back to the premiership. Did think that they should be encouraging new fans though - not 100% sure the club has got this right..
  16. New contender...Footy McFootface... Not sure I want an experienced jobber, we've usually gone for younger, ambitious managers & it has, by & large, worked (apart from recently, of course). Said before, but surely experience, whilst still important, is slightly less relevant now if we appint well with the GM/D of F post? A long in the tooth gaffer (such as Jim Duffy - who I think is a decent manager), would he want to work with a setup like that?
  17. P.s. suprised nobody has mentioned Kenny Shiels...I will, just to say...NO!!!
  18. Would agree with that, but think the new manager probably would want his own man in. Are we maybe talking about MM mentoring someone who is relatively new to management? Like I said before, the general manager post should be filled first, as this has implications as to who the manager will - can't see an 'experienced' gaffer wanting to work with them..
  19. Think it was the General Manager post Malpas was referring to _which I probably could see him doing...maybe...not sure if I want to, though) - really don't see him going for the managers job, would almost be like stabbing RF in the back...
  20. I wish people would stop touting Butcher for the job - he's had his time & we need to look forward & leave previous managers out of it. Think the GM/D of F post would have to be filled 1st, as wouldn't this have a bearing on the sort of manager/head coach we would be appointing? No point hiring a manager who then falls out with the gm/d of f-or vice versa!!
  21. The P & J's choices: Sheerin - definetly worth considering. Wonder if the P&J have zoned in on him mainly because he is at the Dons..? Gus McPherson - if we want a team of thugs who hoof it up the park (what I seem to remember of St Mirren under his tenure anyway) then yes. For me, definetly NO. Malpas - good coach but abysmal management record. Can see him at the club as General Manager, or, less likely, a no.2 to the new gaffer. Sure there are other, more inspired (and NOT any ex ICT managers, by the way..) choices out there!
  22. It's mostly worked out better, rather than worse - we'll just have to wait & see. Paul Lambert has just left Wolves...and Claudio Ranieri is at a loose end just now, I believe.
  23. They won it 2 years ago, I believe. Also read a paper touting Jimmy Calderwood - only one thing to say to that...NOOOOOOO!!! Must look online and find out more about Paul Telfer...not someone I know anything about. As for Russell Latapy - a guy who I definetly have a lot of time for (& sure was a big part of Yogi's success, initially), but not sure if he's the man. If he'd been 10-15 years younger, would havebeen a good player/manager! He left under strange circumstances - wasn't aware what he's done after he left us? Did he fall out with Yogi (not the first to, I wouldn't think!)? Worth interviewing...
  24. I would give him a chance, wouldn't be my 1st choice...but some of our previous managers weren't either... Might be a good blend of not being too long in the tooth & experience.. Definetly worth an interview if he applies..
  25. Only choice for worst management duo we could possibly pick....
