Sophia, I think what Smee is saying is that the city of Inverness, and indeed the county of the same name, is populated by as many, if not more, people from further afield as those who have been born and brought up in the area. At no point did he say whether that was a good thing or bad. Personally I think its a great honour for the region that so many from outside want to settle here and if they wish to come and support the local team then even better.
Unfortunately, in the society we live in, its white, english speaking do-gooders who are deciding what is or isn't racialism and not the people we expect should be offended. Indeed some of my ethnic friends and colleagues feel more offended by what we deem to be racialism than by any acts aimed at them. An example of that that I would give is: I can have a banter with a black friend about getting sun tanned on holiday and he replies with some other good natured retort about white people. Neither he nor I feel offended or harassed by this but some eavesdropping do-gooder would see the conversation as racialism. So where is the racialism.
