Macron - New Kit Supplier
I've not bought an ICT shirt for a good few seasons now. Generally speaking the price is a put off for me, however, I would have definitely purchased to 30 year top but, at the time, the club was in disarray I didn't want my money going to the those clowns in charge at the time. Anyway, back to the present day and the new away strip. Mrs Gringo said 'It's the worst ever' and tend to agree. As we're not a million miles away from Wolves (who nobody likes round here) it wouldn't have been nice to wear it here. Also my thoughts on the shirt sponsor have been aired and that would have been another reason to keep my beer tokens in my wallet.

Pile the pressure on this cretin Infantino. The Spanish league (La Liga) president Javier Tebas has called out FIFA (or by implication) Infantino with their ‘complicit silence’ on the Balogun CARDGATE shameful debacle. Well done Tebas and the La Liga. They have the balls to call out this crap behaviour for what it is - Simply corruption and the effrontery of the rules. I wonder if our national football executives, President Mulraney and CEO Maxwell have the spine and courage to put their heads above the parapet and denounce FIFA. Well, thinking about that, that would need a stiff drink and something they lack; vision, conviction and spirit! I bet Infantino was secretly praying and cheering on Belgium against the Yanks. His skinny a*s must have been twitching in his seat before Belgium secure the victory. PS - Tried feathers for breakfast today but couldn’t swallow any more FIFA bile. bc

Given Ronaldo's great affection for himself, I would certainly be putting on gloves if I had to shake hands with him! It's reported that Balogun visited the Belgian dressing room after the game, and they told him that it wasn't his fault. That's good, from him and from the Belgians. Back to football now, please.

Just for the record, it was Belgian waffles this morning :) Draw a line, move on. It will forever be in the history books and with UEFA going after Infantino before the tournament and now (quite rightly) issuing that statement in support of Belgium before last night's game, the current head of FIFA's days may be numbered. You know it is bad when even Blatter is saying it was a bad decision. England should NOT appeal the red card. You are right to say this sets precedent, but they should take the moral high ground. If it were Kane or Bellingham perhaps they might think about it but with all due respect to Quansah, his studs up challenge is not the hill to die on for this question unless they want to be as reviled as the USA team yesterday.

Its a miss on this one for me I think. I like the neckline as I hate round neck shirts so anything that is V neck or polo style works for me but thats the only positives. I can't see why we chose the colour. My first thought (other than Wolves too) was that it was like a Motherwell top that's been washed 1000 times and faded. Like/agree with the idea of having the away strip being some combo of our traditional colours of red/black/blue/white that is not in use in whatever design we use for the home strip that year. Loved the 30 year strip but the reality is that most people did not get to order it as there was a miniscule run and not in all sizes. Would happily order this if we brought it back

No way should England appeal the ban. Now that the USA are thankfully out of the competition, we are back to a level playing field with regard to suspensions for red cards. The focus for England and the other teams still in the competition should be simply to prepare for their next games as best they can within the current rules. If people are unhappy with the rules, they can be reviewed once the competition is done. Beyond that, there should be some quick repercussions for Trump's (ultimately counterproductive) political interference. It makes the prospect of him presenting the trophy even more distasteful than ever. Participating Football Associations could lobby for the trophy to be presented by Ronaldo. It was sad to see him playing for Portugal as a shadow of his former self, but he is one of the greatest players ever to play the game and this would be his only chance to get his hands on the trophy! I am sure the players of which ever team wins would be honoured to shake hands with Ronaldo but would be putting on disposable gloves if shaking hands with Trump.

I think now England should appeal against the Quansah ban. When the appeal is turned down they should then put FIFA on the spot and ask them to clarify what the difference is. If FIFA should un-ban Quansah then it would need the moral high ground to be taken and him not be considered for selection. Not one person outside of the USA wanted anything other than a resounding Belgian victory. Teams should be aware of this feeling before considering an appeal on red cards yet to be issued in this tournament.

Both trialists have had injury issues but clearly both good enough for the Championship. We clearly need an additional tall back four player.

Nice to wake up to that result!

Apparently Trump knows a lot about sport, but doesn't understand red cards He hasn't been to a single match...which is strange since he invented the game

Yes...cheat your way of that one Trump and FIFA. Nobody likes a cheat...goodbye USA.

Sounds very much like Joe Walters isn't getting signed up so we just have Daniel Mackay and Kerr Smith in on trial at the minute. Sounds like we are waiting a bit of time to make a decision on Daniel with no indication on how long we'll wait to make a decision on Kerr. Source is Billy McKay 😁.

A shocking decision, just showing how corrupt certain people really are.

That would be the simplest and most classy solution from the manager. Plenty could question the manager's choice but no-one can supersede it!

No we aren't! I stayed up to watch last night and was very glad I did. It was a superb team effort and an emotional roller coaster for me. I really expected England to lose given Mexico's record at the Azteca and the short time for the players to acclimatise to the altitude. Tuchel got the team selection, tactics and substitutions spot on. I also rather liked his tongue in cheek remark about asking Trump if he will have a word with FIFA about the red card! I think just about everyone is disgusted by Trump's interference and Fifa's pathetic subservience to a corrupt president. It would be wonderful if Pochettino simply left Balogan out of the squad for the quarter final. What a message that would send to Trump and FIFA Now for Norway. Actually, I would rather have played Brazil. Brazil have been a shadow of the past teams and actually lost more games in the qualifying competition than any of the teams reaching the finals. On the other hand, Norway have only lost 1 of their last 16 competitive games and that was to France in the group stages when they had already qualified for the knock out stages. In Haaland, they have the world's best striker but they are by no means a one man band. England are probably favourites but it will be another very tight game.

Beat you to it But first, tonight for dinner, it will be moules frites, with mayo on the frites, followed by chocolate mousse, and washed down by a selection of Trappist beers. To a soundtrack of Plastic Bertrand's greatest hit. And a midnight snack of Americans on toast.

Hate to say it but think England deserved that result. They were the better team, Bellingham was on fire, and I also thought Harry Kane was a little hard done by at their penalty. Now we are all Vikings for the next round :) agreed. FIFA will likely hide behind the 'right call' quote I mentioned earlier, but it's not like they even rescinded it, they suspended the suspension (whatever that means) so that the player can take the field against Belgium.

Agreed, I said the post below when the Somalian ref was ‘pulled’ then later the soul of the game was getting taken away from its fans. With the clear corrupt manipulation of the rules, (under the order of Trump), Infantino has simply sold any self respect or reputation he possessed for personal greed and self interest. He has debased the greatest game the world has known and it’s clear now anything pertaining to the rules can be bought. Utterly SHAMEFUL and SHAMELESS. The damage done in undermining the game may be impossible to repair. Ie Arabs, Far East and influencers like Putin seeing what’s possible with corrupt individuals at the top. I can’t express my contempt for this act and individual in proper terms. bc “ What a cretin Infantino has shown the football world he is. It seems the norm now that football authorities put more emphasis on their own image, recompense package and pensions ahead of the game they are supposed to care for, develop and present in its best light”.

The decision by FIFA to suspend the suspension of USA’s Balogun is disgusting and has more than a whiff of political interference.
-
World Cup
Did well to cling on last night, but they couldn’t realistically have hoped for an easier path to the semis! Won’t know how good they actually are until they face one of the top sides.

Well, how about that for a result by England? Wasn't expecting that... Bellingham is back to being Bellingham of old. Mexico had England under the cosh with some great crosses and all round action, but England's defence somehow kept them out most times. With Norway knocking out Brazil (another surprise) it sets up an interesting all-European clash, Haaland versus his team mate Guehi. I think you guys can relax, I don't think England will get to the final
