I think it is more likely to hinder us. Mark Howard is a superb keeper who will be very grateful for his recall to the 1st team

Most of the Midden fans prefer Howard to Smith.

He was dropped in favour of Smith because of his reluctance to sign a new contract last January.

Both are rather unreliable at times but Mark Howard on his day be an excellent keeper. I think Rangers tried to sign him in January, hence the fact he didnt sign a new contract.
