MacPherson leaves St Mirren

Gus MacPherson is parting ways with St Mirren after almost seven years as manager with the Paisley club.

The Buddies avoided relegation to finish this season in 10th place in the Scottish Premier League.

A club statement read: "We would like to thank Mr MacPherson for all his work and the improvement in the club's league standing since his arrival.

"The board feel that the relationship had run its course and that the club requires a change of direction."

More to follow.

absolutely!

wonder if celtic are glad they got rid of chesney or if aberdeen are happy they got rid of tangoman?

The St Mirren board obviously told Gus he had to lose 5 or 6 players, cut wages, and lose some staff, to which Gus perhaps replied in the negative, to say the least. Economy drives are all very good and well, but they may have just increased their chances of going down - I think the players will feel Gus has taken a bullet for them, and will be pretty displeased. Over zealous accountant at St Mirren.

Roll on the visits to Paisley next season then. McCall is the lazy west of Scotland first choice and he needs a change of club. Adams is a speculative punt :( - could pay off for them.

I reckon Kenny MacDowall will get the job .

I see Terry Butcher's down at 8-1 to get the job on William Hill.
