Crossing the Old Firm divide

Just struck me that in the last 6 months Celtic have signed 3 former Rangers players (Miller, Pressley and Brown), whilst the Celtic coach McDowell has gone straight to Rangers. Celtic also bid this week for Lafferty despite him saying publicly that he is a Rangers fan.

My point is that there has been no real issue raised in the press or with the fans (as far as I am aware) about signing these "Huns" or "Tims". I'm pretty sure that just a few years ago there would have been a real fuss.

Is this progress?

I would certainly hope it is. I think the majority of fans on both sides of Glasgow now see players for what they can do and not for what school they went to. The influx of foriegn players has changed attitudes a lot. I remember a cup final between the two around the end of the nineties where all the press could report was that Rangers fielded seven catholics whilst Celtic had five protestants.

Granted there are still a few bigots out there but in the main such things dont get a mention.
