According to the Wikipedia the North Caledonian League that Inverness City play in was won for the first time in season 1896-97 by a team called Inverness Celtic.  Does anyone know anything about them and what happened to them.

They probably would have merged with other teams - like Crown, Citadel etc.

That would make sense.

Inverness Celtic also played in the Highland League between 1897-99 they would have most likely joined up with the likes of Union or Citadel etc. Seems they were the first sort of team to win the North Caledonian League then move up to the Highland League.
