I must say I was surprised to see Rankin start today, after all that's happened in the last week. If he's been told he can leave in January, then it seems a bit odd to start with him.
Is this Brewsters way of letting other clubs see what he can do, and maximising a sale price? Or is it a chance for Rankin to show he's got what it takes to be part of Brews future plans?
I've never been a great fan of Rankin, and other than a few great goals, he's never done that much.
On the evidence of today though, it'd be madness to let him go. Yes, it was only one game I know, but I've never seen such commitment from John, he chased everything, and that was certainly the best performance I've seen from him in an ICT shirt.
Maybe Rankin was the only option Brewster had in order to string five across the middle, and if that was all there was to it, is there any chance he did enough today to make Brewster think again?
