Footballers kissing

I seem to recall that in the early 80s the way for players to celebrate a goal was by kissing their teammates.

Did this affectionate celebration get outlawed in any way, or did it just go out of fashion as players realised that it was a bit, err, unnecessary?

Was that about the time that "gay" turned from meaning joyous to....."boyous"

Nothin seems to stop them from jumping on each other's backs and givin each other big boyhumps in celebration.  A manly pat on the back should surely be enough man contact.  :001:

Nothing wrong with kissing footballers.  I watched the womens world cup on telly and would have kissed most of them, mind you some of the Germans would have made me squeal :blush02:

what?

I'm not sure about this, Connie.... If you and I were ever in the same team I would be very happy for you to kiss me if I scored..... :014:
