  1. Barnet Mad looks back on Kenny's time at Underhill: Kenny Gillet, Barnet?s French full back, has turned down an offer of an improved contract from manager, Mark Stimson. This will come as a great disappointment to many Barnet fans as Gillet was a very popular player at Underhill. Gillet joined Barnet in August 2007 from French club, Caen and, having missed the first four matches of the season, quickly became a first team regular at the club. An injury picked up at Chesterfield meant that Kenny missed the next nine matches but he came back for the FA Cup tie with Gillingham and it was his fine cross that was fired home by Liam Hatch to give the Bees a 2-1 win against a League One club. Gillet was a regular throughout Barnet?s FA Cup run to the 4th round for the second successive season before losing 1-0 to Bristol Rovers at Underhill and even moved over to the centre back position in the Boxing Day match at Underhill against Dagenham & Redbridge. Gillet made an unfortunate start to the 2008/09 season being sent off in the 1st round of the Carling Cup against Brighton, having scored his first goal for the club in the pre-season friendly against Arsenal, a finely hit free kick from outside the penalty area. Gillet returned to the side after suspension in a side that was struggling to gain many points. A second sending off at Accrington in January lead to new manager, Ian Hendon bringing in Colchester left back, Matt Lockwood on loan and Gillet was banished to the bench. Lockwood played his part in Barnet?s surge up the table away from the relegation zone and Gillet only returned to the side after Lockwood returned to Colchester in April. Gillet started last season as regular left back but an injury sustained in the home match with Morecambe brought in new signing Ahmed Deen and Gillet could count himself a bit fortunate to get back into the side on his return as Deen had played his part in a five match winning streak. As Barnet?s from began to slump after a promising start, Hendon again brought in Lockwood, ironically for the away match at Morecambe and for the rest of the season, Gillet was either on the bench or filling in at centre back, where, it has to be said he looked very comfortable, displaying a new sense of versatility. Gillet even played on the left side of midfield as well. Gillet may have felt that the club did not have the confidence in him to play him regularly at left back throughout the season. It was a surprise to many fans when Gillet was released at the end of last season, but, following new manager, mark Stimson?s offer of a new contract, it seemed that Kenny was going to stay on at Underhill but it is not meant to be. I?m sure that all barnet fans will wish Kenny all the best for the future.

  2. Barnet fan here (obviously), just thought I'd add my thoughts. To be honest I have no idea how L2 translates to your club?? In my opinion Kenny G was solid enough but nothing special. In reply to the person saying he's our best player, I'd disagree with that, we have/had much better players but he certainly wasn't the worst. Sometimes shaky defensively in my opinion, but in the games he played as a centre back towards the latter stages of his time with us he looked much stronger than left back. He's great in the air, I think positionally he struggled a bit and got exposed as a left back. He's not a midfielder, but did a solid enough job there. Hits a nice pass/crosses. Overall, in my opinion he was Mr average, generally would always give a reliable enough performance, but not a stand out. That said, the performances we've sometimes given it's possible to see why the person above might say he's our best player, unlike others he always gave 100% and as I said, usually gave a solid enough performance. Be interesting to see how he performs at this level, as as I said I honestly have no idea. I hope he does well. P.S If I remember right someone on our messageboard once said they made up and added Lego as the middle name on wikipedia, as good as it would be. But I do believe he is good friends with Clichy.

  3. I'm not sure if I'm ready yet to watch ICT play a French left-back that isn't Lionel.

  4. Hayes, Odhiambo and Rooney were all playing in the lower leagues on loan from their respective clubs before the moves to ICT and with very little experience at that. This boy has played 89 games in a league that's maybe not great on a footballing level but very competitive.

  8. Doesn't it just add to the clutter Scotty, rather than adding to the knowledge base. I don't personally care what other posters think of a post because if I like it I like it for solid reasons (for me that is) and unless you are keeping tally so that at a future date a mod can belt the baddy with a tawsewhat is the overall point.? :_sleep:

  11. I?m looking for Caley fans to become managers and join the Xpert Eleven online fantasy football league set up especially for fans of SPL and Division 1-3 clubs to compete against each other. You manage a team of up to 20 players, select formations, train, buy and sell players, make press releases etc and play 2 games per week. Xpert Eleven is completely FREE to play, there are no fees or subscriptions, no catches. Our aim is to make this the league of choice for Scottish fans playing Xpert Eleven. The Scottish League will see fans from Scottish clubs compete for the overall title and league trophy. Up to now it?s been operating with teams from just a few clubs but we want to expand it to involve all Scottish clubs. To join follow the link below and register http://new.xperteleven.com/prepage.aspx?Lid=143049 Then apply to join league ID 143049 which is the Scottish League. This message has been posted on just about every SPL and Div 1-3 fan forum we could find so expect there to be a lot of friendly rivalry going on and we?d like a few Inverness fans in there competing. If you already play Xpert Eleven, feel free to join anyway or send this link to friends, colleagues and rivals or post elsewhere on relevant fan forums. The new season starts on 6 August when you will be assigned a division so there won?t be a lot of activity until nearer the time but arrange a friendly with a few teams in the meantime to get a feel for the game. We hope to see you there. Be warned, this is highly addictive but we guarantee you will enjoy it.

  12. Ok so i heard this from Jambo i work with. Apparently ( and this is all hearsay) Aberdeen FC have only a few months to stump up several million pounds in order to keep playing at Pittodrie. Chances are that they dont have the cash to pay off their debts, so may be asked to vacate their stadium. This Jambo has it on 'ok' Authourity that ICT may be asked if Aberdeen can ground share. As i said its all hearsay and im sure the above is not all the facts, but interesting none the less. thoughts? Has anyone else heard about this? BC
