Darn, now I have to go figure out (again) how to deduct points from our league table database !
  2. I thought awarding a 3-0 win to their opponent in each game that they broke the rules would have been a fair penalty.
  3. They have got off very lightly. If a team can lose 3 points for a simple admin oversight that results in an ineligible player for 1 match, then I’d have thought systematic cheating and dishonesty over a period of time would be worth a lot more than a 6 point deduction, especially when they have ‘previous’ when it comes to hiding things from the football authorities.
  4. Hamilton have now been deducted 6 points for signing professionals as amateurs and trialists during their transfer embargo. I can’t help but feel they’ve got off lightly here. They were also fined 20k which I don’t agree with. I do wonder though if this means there will be a mass exodus on their books. Surely if they continue to be paid then a further points deduction will come.

Got off lightly if you ask me. Making payments to players who are Registered as Amateur Players for the Club and/or who the Club have attempted to Register as Amateur Players. Making payments to players who have appeared as Trialists for the Club. Breach of the Club’s duty to behave with the utmost good faith towards the SPFL and other Clubs regarding its paying of Trialists and Amateur Players. Abuse of the Registration system by attempting to Register Professional Players as Amateur Players. Failing to keep records and documentation required under SPFL Rules.

Seems a low penalty for what they’ve done: https://spfl.co.uk/news/spfl-statement-hamilton-academical-50858
