Yes it does. There are hundreds, no thousands, of teams who play in stripes of varying colours every season and their kits still vary and fans still buy them. Our most important/visible part of our brand identity is the shirt the players and fans wear, yet we constantly mess with this (and IMO get it wrong), there are no other teams in Scotland and only 1 in the UK I believe that play in red & blue vertical stripes, it's the ideal way to make us instantly identifiable and unique but we choose to ignore it. Try wearing a non striped ICT shirt in Glasgow and folk think you are a sevco fan: blue with red bits = sevco. And the same goes for most other parts of Scotland too, in fact Inverness is probably the only exception. Maybe it's because I work in the design industry that I feel the whole brand identity thing matters a lot, maybe I'm just need to get out more! Either way, I'll find a different way to put money into the club although I am sure my Dad will buy the shirt for me for my birthday (again - thanks Dad!). And I should add my opinion has no pre-merger influence whatsoever.

We also got relegated in a predominately blue shirt.

Errea have plenty of decent designs which have been shown on this thread. And yet someone chose this thing.

Berra's had plenty of chances IMO. He's never been particularly good in dark blue. Strange how it's not always the best players that do the best for Scotland. Compare McFadden's record for Scotland (when he was playing) to his league scoring record.

I'm kidding (only slightly tho), I'm a Supporters Club member and love supporting Scotland. Berra a definite starter? Really? I think he's awful in dark blue. They may not be the best at domestic level but the only partnership that seems to work in the centre of defence for Scotland since Weir's retirement is Caldwell and McManus IMO. As for Levein, I want him to succeed but continually have to wonder what planet he is on! Chris Burke provided the most assists in the championship last season, Ross McCormack was that league's 3rd top scorer yet neither get picked. And when we have so many injuries, call offs and players who refuse to play for the manager too. How many squads now has he only picked 3 strikers for? And don't get me started on that 4-6-0 formation. That's a f**kin padlock combination not a football formation. And as has already been stated we were very lucky to get a win against Leichtenstein. At home. Other wins include Leichtenstein again, Ireland, The Faroe Islands and Cyprus. I'm just not convinced by CL. Not saying there has not been improvement, I do believe despite all this we are heading in a better direction. We have a chance with the group we are in, I really, really hope we can do something this time. And while I remain to be convinced I'll still be there singing my heart out and cheering Scotland on. The standard of refereeing in Scotland that I have witnessed is consistently higher than I have seen at international level and in other countries, including the english top flight where the money is silly IMO. Not saying they don't get things wrong but...

Why / how are people shocked by this? It's not as if it was a secret, it was pretty much common knowledge that these things happen over there.

Pre season is 4 weeks away. Pre season. Not the start of the season. Pre season. Some clubs are only now releasing players. Get a grip, these things take time. We have 4 weeks before they even start running around a field together let alone taking part in any meaningful match. If ICT is all some of you have to moan (constantly in some cases) about then you are indeed very lucky people. Take a break (like the majority of footballers are doing at this time of the year) from worrying about ICT. Never fear, I'm sure they'll give you plenty to worry and complain about when the season is actually underway.
