  1. I've had two links not work on me today too! :008: i thought they were valid points in a valid thread, ahh well...
  2. that link just sent me to the front page of the forums. if you look at the first line of my original post i said that although this was being discussed in another thread i thought it merited its own thread as it is an important issue and the sneck courier article covered a range of topics. i thought a dedicated discussion on low attandances would be a good idea obviously i was mistaken :007:
  3. ha ha, :015: perish the thought!
  4. more info: second fecking link of the day that doesnt work. from Sportinglife.com:
  5. 72 views on this thread and one comment! :010: Looks like the clubs lack of ideas is contagious. Cheers for the comment RiG. :022:
  6. Would hope the Buchanan deal isnt off as by all reports he sounds like a promising young striker. As kencar said, he could be one for the future and therefore not a priority signing target right now, most probably start of new season. Couldnt get the link to work so from the press and journal website:
  7. I have noticed this subject being discussed on another thread and i feel it is important enough to merit its own thread. Much has been said of late about the clubs in-ability to attract fans to TCS and how the low crowds are limiting CC in his foray into the transfer market. I think this is very unfair and if the club think this will act as a wake up call for fans to start attending more games then i think they are sadly mistaken. Fans dont stay away from games because they want to its most probably down to high ticket prices, numerous hassles getting to/leaving/parking at games or ticket availability for the bigger games. If you ask me ticket pricing is the major factor in low attendances and i know of at least 12 potential fans that have been put off coming to games due to the high price of tickets. I dont know if ticket pricing is decided solely by the board or if the SPL issue guideline prices but there seems to be a lot of people on this site and people who ive spoken to who feel that ticket prices are preventing them from attending more games. Not even cup games are subsidised in any way which i feel is a big mistake. As far as i'm aware there arent any school ticket schemes ie. reduced ticket prices, competitions or even free ticket schemes and as a city where there has been a huge increase in young families moving to the area in recent years then surely addressing this target market will be beneficial in the short term and the long term. Wigan recently reduced ticket prices considerably for the next 8 or so games to entice fans along and i think its a great idea. I seriously doubt that they will loose much money, if any, by reducing the ticket price as there will more than likely be a vast increase in attendance. its simple economics, the increase in attendance will surely cancel out the ticket price reduction. Scotty raised some very good points about the perceived lack of fans turning up for games on another thread and what can be done to remedy the situation and i feel we can build on this to genereate some viable ideas for club as it seems evident that little is being done by the club at present. The only incentive that i can think of which the club has implemented recently has had inconclusive sucess - the polish flyer scheme. Also I think Scotty's idea of categorising tickets into areas of the ground is a very good one and could be successful if used. I, like most of you on this site follow and support the club as much as possible (in my personal case i have had a seaon ticket for 5 seasons of ICT's existence and make numerous away cup trips when possible) and for fans to be blamed for the lack of transfer activity is a bit of a kick in the teeth, especially to those who follow the club as much as financially possible, but lets not dwell on it and figure out how to solve the problem rather than use it as a scapegoat everytime things arent running smoothly. 8. is our goalkeeping coach really not full time? :010:
  9. Hibs have taken a young Chelsea goalkeeper on trial, hopefully that should signal the end of the speculation surrounding Brown and Hibs.

this is a debate sandy, not an arguement so theres no need for insults. i was there to the bitter end and while i was delighted to see the team attack with menace i cannot excuse the bad defending. do you think charlie and the rest of the team are gonna be happy tonight? do you think they will think the points dont matter at least we scored three goals? at least we played better? i think not!

ha ha, beer is not condusive to spelling i'm afraid i understand your optimism sandy and to an extent i share the optimism as it was good to see attacking football but we cannot ignore our shocking defending.

forget the score? how could i forget that winning the game and getting points came second to keeping sandy cromarty happy. at the end of the day all that matters is that we get points, remain in the SPL and then we can think about playing attracttive football

'the defending was bad but so what?' :017: if the defending is continually bad it means we lets in lots of goals which means we lose games which means we get relegated so thats what!! its very good that were scoring goals again but it means didly squat unless we score more than other the other team! thats is what the game is all about! scoring more than the other team!!

What infuriated me was when we played the ball on the deck we looked extremely dangerous but it we only get 5 minutes of it at a time before it reverts to the long feckin ball which does not work when you have two small forwards on the park. Its not fecking rocket science, its common sense. I thought broonie couldnt be faulted for 3 of the goals but the one from Nish (i think it was the second) despite being left exposed by terrible defending broonie should have done better. The midfield today i thought were a lot better than of late and wyness and dargo looked dangerous but the suicidal defending and reverting to the long ball tactic were two dissapointing factors today.

Better in an attacking sense yes but the defending today was diabolical. :008:
  18. I agree completely but there's not a lot we can do about it, the last few times i have sat in the main stand, the abuse that Duncan gets is both unnecessary and often un-warranted but it is a feature of British football and theres not a lot that can be done with it. Unless we condone retribution in the form of Eric 'kung-fu king' cantona (which admittedly was quite amusing at the time) then it will continue.
  19. Admittedly criticism especially shouted at you from the sidelines is never easy to take but it is the nature of the game especially in this country where pundits, the media and fans alike thrive of throwing criticism at players. Having played numerous sports myself i have have criticism and praise thrown at me from the sidelines and its not something you let get to you, you just have to get on with it. As professional footballers they should know its part and parcel of the game whether they like it or not and will have to take it on the chin or ignore it..
  20. What a team!! :021:
  21. Completely agree with Scotty's team selection but would swap Ritchie/Wilson/Rankin so the midfield would be: Hart Black Rankin Wilson with the emphasis of Rankin playing further forward.
  22. Completely agree, Bayne does a power of running, heading, tackling and his commitment to the team can never be in question but unfortunately isn't as prolific as Dargo which begs the question why is it only Dargo that is subbed?
  23. Daily Record Link Following on from the Dargo debate thats going on just now regarding his concern at being subbed continually i read the linked article and thought it sounded like a bit of double standards from Charlie. It is well documented that we do not create enough goal scoring opportunities or create enough for our forwards to work with but it seems a tad unfair of Charlie to issue what sounds like an ultimatum to Dargo in that if he doesn't score he will be subbed. There are other players in the squad who should be scoring but aren't and are not subbed as frequently as Dargo. For example Bayne has been starting a lot of games recently and like Dargo has not been scoring regularly but still seems to stay on the pitch far longer than Dargo. Surely a player like Dargo who, after last seasons scoring exploits, should be given some leeway to regain his scoring form and as one of our most dangerous attacking players surely its better having him on the pitch. He has the ability to pop up in a quiet game and poke away a goal so surely its more beneficial having him on the park. As much as i have sympathy for Dargo's substitution issues i don't necessarily feel mentioning it to the press was the best way to deal with it. This all may be a cunning ploy by Charlie as an incentive for Dargo to score more goals and if it is then fair play but on first thoughts it does seem a bit unfair on Dargo.
  24. Not strictly true, Libero... There has been a few odd occasions over the years when Man U players have spoken directly to the press.... Mind you.... they are usually on their way out of Old Trafford very shortly afterwards...!! :007: Didnt say never, :004: i said rarely, van nistelrooy did it and was out of old trafford quicker than rooney could say donut!
  25. Sounds promising, i await the article with renewed optimism. :021:
