  1. I'm lead to belive that another former County player is on trial with you our deer neighbours. Lionel Djebi Zadi, played left back for us, and was superb for the season he spent with us before moving to some German team - who's name I forget. Probably his two most famous moments was in his first game - a friendly against you lot - when he tipped Barry Wilson up-side-down in the opening seconds, and then for famouly wearing his tracksuit top back to front in Stirling. He was a decent player too though !
  2. A wee bit of glory hunting this weekend again Charles ? Your never seen around Dingwall until things are either going bad in Inverness or there is a chance of a party in Dingwall - See and plug your microphone in properly this weekend then, and not end up with the comical farce you had on your last visit !
  3. Angus the stag, was originally made for Ross County - for obvious reasons -, but County were not happy with the standard of the outfit, and returned it to the supplier. The supplier in turn managed to flog it to Caley.
  4. I see the other Wyness topic has been locked for some reason, but I notice that the local papers tonight are saying that Ross County are to offer Dennis Wyness a pre-contract agreement in the next few days. It says that Aberdeen and another SPL team are interested in him, but the player is keen to stay in the area due to his three kids being in school in the Inverness area. So I guess if that is the case, it's only County and Caley, if they do make another offer, that he would be interested in.
  5. I turned it down though ! I like the others players are holding out for a minimum of ?5,000 per week.
  6. As you say connsidering our financial position I find this story amazing. I thought he would have bitten their hands off for that kind of cash ! I suppose if we had played on the Thursday then we would have had to play the league game on the Sunday... I wonder....
  7. I never heard that one ! :crazy07: I've heard today that Barrowman has "given his word" to County that he won;t sign a pre-contract agreement with anyone before the summer and is willing to wait until the summer and the possibility of an improved offer from County should they get promoted to the first division. Not sure what "his word" is worth, but my feeling is that he will still go for a small fee this week !
  8. Barry Wilson can be seen at County games if he is not playing for Caley. In fact quite often if he is injured and Caley are away from home then he goes to Dingwall instead of the Caley away match. Last week, County-Airdrie game and Caley didn't play until the Sunday, there were 7 Caley players (That I saw - maybe more) at the County match as well as Brewster, in fact they are quite often there if they are not playing that day. - Incidently Barrowman scored the winner that day ! But I think County players attend Caley matches if they are not playing, so not too much in it I don't think
  9. Thought I would do my public duty and let you know that I believe County's Andrew Barrowman will be becoming an ICT player at some point this year. He is currently only contracted with us until the end of the season, and I believe that ICT had made enquiries for him to sign in the summer, but it now appears that a small nominal fee could be paid and you may sign him before Thursday. I hope this is wrong information I have here, as being our top scorer this season I would like to keep hold of him until the summer at least. He has not been very successful in his time with Kilmarnock or indeed while at Queen of the South last season, so not sure how he will cope at a higher level. He has certainly been good in the second division though !
  10. He cant sign for anyone unless terms are agreed with ICT. He's under contract for another 18 mths I appreciate that, but from from what I heard the two clubs had agreed terms, but he couldn't move until the transfer window opened. Then the tragic news of last weekend have delayed the dealings.
  11. I hear he is going to Motherwell. I heard this before the tragic news of last Saturday, and believe he was due to sign this week for them, but I guess with all that has gone on there this week the signing may be delayed for a week or two.
  12. I'll post this in here as it is just a rumour. But I've heard on the grapevine that Donald Park has registered his interest in the vacant managers position at County. I was always lead to believe that he prefered being an assistant than being the boss, but then the job description at County I guess will be Head coach as we have George Adams there as director of football. I've also heard that Park and Brewster don;t exactly see eye to eye. So could there be any truth in this ??
  13. Aye very good. But you actually beat us last year in Inverness 3-0 was it not.. Yeah it was only a friendly, and as I say the result doesn't matter - although bragging rights are yours once again ! It's more of a chance to see how the new players are gelling, and how the team are performing. I am sure if it had been a meaningful match, then yes there would have been fiercer tackles etc. but I would still imagine CC would not have been happy with Caley's first half performance today !
  14. I posted that, but if you read what was really written, I said County play during the season as they did today we should be all right, but if Caley play as they did then we could well see a return of the Highland derby the follwoing season. By that I ment we are looking for promotion. And if we play as we did then we have a good chance of it. As for Caley I thought for the first 70 minutes you were awful - considering you are two divisions higher than us - you only had two or three shots on goal the whole first half. I know pre-season games are meaningless in terms of results, but if you defend next week against Rangers as you did today in the first half, then you may need your second hand to county the Rangers goals ! As for the game it wasn;t the usual pre-season glorified training session, which I assume was of benifit to both clubs. Same story from County though, wated chances and fell asleep for 10 minutes - happened every game last season !
  15. He's actually been at County for 13 years, he joined the boys club at the age of 11. As for him signing before Wednesday night Caley would under UEFA rules have to pay County compensation, as Cowie does not turn 24 until March some point the new team would have to pay compensation for his training as a youth. So for that reason I think County would be keen to off load him before Wednesday night, but I think Caley would be less happy to sign him beofre this date.
  16. I've missed laughing at you :015: :016: *Clicky clicky* Who's laughing at who ?? You are the lot that signed McSwegan ! :015: And as a player too :015: ohh my sides are getting sore... On a serious note, I believe he will be helping out with coaching too, he has been doing all his badges etc. while at County.. But at least it's a huge wage bill off our books.
  17. Why has no one mentioned that Caley signed Gary McSwegan from County ? Is this the ostrich syndrome - burrying your head in the sand will not make it go away !!
  18. I don't think you can really say that. Maybe his exclusion from the squad has something to do with him not doing very much in the Future game played in Inverness last season, and the fact he was sent off in that match. Afterall the coaching staff obviously do travel to watch players as Ross County's Craig Samson was included in the U21 squad.
  19. It's a bit "pots and kettles" is it not ? Only three weeks ago, just before Caley signed John Rankin, every detail of the transfer sage happened through the back pages of the newspapers, and every time it was either Graeme bennet or Charlie Christie that were making the comments. At the time every County fan commented on how low and underhanded this was, as we felt it would unsettle our team. So why is it such a big issue for ICt when it happens to them ? So with David Sutherland being quoted as saying "We are very disappointed with such conduct" does this then also mean that he was disappointed with the conduct shown by Bennet and Christie in the Rankin transfer saga ? I think so !!
  20. Rankin has signed for you. He will be unveiled at a press conference tomorrow lunch time. No details. I guess it is for the same £65k as last week, just the issues with the agent must have been sorted one way or the other
  21. Just a point of interest. John Rankin played for Ross County today against Nairn County. Was missing for long spells in the match but had a terrific shot which came back of the cross bar.. other than that nothing worthy of mentioning
  22. We're not disgusing ourselves as a charity. When we started out we had to raise funds simply to pay the players wages, since then things have changed a bit, and Roy McGregor eased the problems slightly. But we are still hard up for cash, and what better way to help out the club, than to raise money for the youth teams. Not all the cash we are raising is for the youth teams, this is a one off event for a particular cause. In total so far SoS have handed over £18,000 to the football club, it may not sound a huge amount when you hear some of the money being banded about for players wages in other divisions etc. but that is around 60% of the funding County get from TV & League sponsors which will be missing next season for us. So it does do a lot to help out. And as said above if you don't want to help, to go. I just thought some other people other than County fans might like to attend such an event, thats why I put it on here
  23. I don't quite follow your logic. RCFC didn't pay a penny for John Rankin, and is seen as one of our best players - proven by the fact you and several other teams want him ! However what is wrong with trying to hold onto your better players ? With out decent players any club would slide back down the divisions and in turn would be worse off. Save Our staggies is an indepentant association, and although we have a non-voting representative from Ross County on the committee this purely so that the two organisations can work together and not against each other. However it is us who are trying to raise this £4000 for the kids teams, yes it helps the club, but at least it is a worth while cause. We got a contact for Tam Cowan, and he was more than happy to help out with such a cause for which we are extremely greatful. But to me this should be a great event, and not one soley aimed at County fans, so if you are interested in coming along tickets are available.
  24. Save Our Staggies - the fundraising group behind Ross County FC - are holding an evening with Tam Cowan on Thursday 15th June in the National Hotel, Dingwall. The evening will follow the England v Trinidad & Tobago match. Tickets are priced £15 and go on sale from Thursday 25th May at Victoria Park Stadium. The purpose of the evening is to raise £4000 so that Save Our Staggies can purchase new playing kits for all the Ross County youth teams for next season. Even though it is a night for Ross County, fans of all other teams are invited ! Anyone fancy it ?
