  1. I take it that all these comments were made after Butcher trashed the away dressing room at Victoria Park ?? I gather a rather large bill will already be in the post to the Tulloch Stadium to cover the cost of the damage !
  2. The areas at both corner flags were sparsely populated in the away end terrace, so those who felt they were packed in to tightly could have moved to another area of the terrace. I believe that there werw actaully 300 or so tickets unsold for the away end (pretty much all terrace). If it's any consolation to you, the Jailend was equally full.
  3. While we did benift from the league re-construction back in 2000, the rules were set out at the start of the season and we knew exactly what had to be done that season. However, it may have escaped your notice, but since 2000 we have been back to Division 2 - as I'm sure you have mentioned once or twice before - and we won the league fair and square that season, with no league re-construction, so in fact we have fully won the right to be in the first division.
  4. He might say the right thing but he's not the one on the pitch playing. What can he and MM do to give them team more believe to go on and win games? Surely that's where the coaching part of his cotract comes in.. Him and Malpas have the responsibility to coach the players how to play. Without trying to sound s though I'm gloating too much, the biggest difference today was that County played football, while Caley just lumped long balls. This was especially in the first half and it clearly didn't work for Caley. Second half and Caley played a bit more int he way of a passing game, and you actually put County under a bit of pressure, scored a goal, had one off the line.. But then for some reason reverted back to the long ball game. As for Butcher, he did well while at Motherwell, but he was a disaster at his other two managerial jobs.. BTW.. What a bargin getting Vigurs on a free..
  5. No I think the Wheelie Bin was named after Jim Hamilton. The Hamilton lounge was named after David Hamilton, a volunteer who helped out at County for most of his life, and was at the club nearly every day of the week... You would have seen him helping the team on match days right up until his sudden death a few years ago.
  6. Seen this advertised the other week. ?10 for the match or ?100 for the season... A bit steep to just sit and watch the telly. Ross County have the same facilities in the Hamilton Lounge, but it's FREE ! I also noticed that the official leaflet for refered to the "Kingmills Club" even spelt wrong..

    FAO Robbo

Aye come on Robbo... Try your hardest to give us an unbiased prediction ! Also what's better Barry Wilson's mums cakes or the pies at Victoria Park ??
  8. Depends what position you want to finish in. Normally this league you need 36 points to avoid relegation, and around 76 points to win the league, although last season St. Johnstone won it on 65 points and Airdrie (through play off) were releaged on 42 points. (Clyde who finished last were on 39 points) Personally I think you'll be looking at aiming for 45 points !
  9. So then, was today's defeat caused by Ross Tokely's red card ? Had he managed to stay on the park for the full game I am sure that Caley would have managed to record the 0-0 draw they needed... Don't blame Brewster, lets blame Tokely...
  10. I must scroll back through the various threads, I thought when Brewster came back it was seen as the return of the King ??
  11. Not a lot of fans turned up for the game, which was fairly entertaining. Full Time score was County 5-2 Caley/Thistle County Scorers were Barry Wilson, Billy Ferris, Gordon Connolly (2), Gary Ross Caley/Thistle scorers were Billy Urquhart, Wilson Robertson, Stevie Polson
  12. Johnston Bellshaw is organising this event, and other than County providing the venue they have no other involvement with it. The reason Victoria (or shall we rename it Victory) Park is being used is firstly Bellshaw played for County and knows the people there, but also it is the day after our last home game of the season, whereas Caley have a couple of home games still to be played.... As said it's in aid of a good cause, and it'll be good to see some of the old players battling it out again. I can still remember some of the challenges Robbie Williamson would make on Charlie Christie... and vice versa. I'll be there , lets hope Jim Calder is up for a "ittle bit of banter"
  13. No he doesn't... But then he isn't trying to weasel his way back into his job at County, because he knows the board at County were onto him after just a few months, so he spat the dummy big style when he didn't get it all his own way. I was just wondering now that there is no potential managerial position up for grabs at Caley (for the foreseable future anyway) if he was still trying to sook up to all the Caley fans. But I did have a few serious questions to ask him... Think I'll send an email to Radio Scotland and see if he answers them there..
  14. Is John Robbertson still doing his Question and Answer sessions on here ?? A few questions I owuld like to ask him now.
  15. I would say you have you a have hit the nail on the head there. Barrowman will score goals if he gets enough chances inside the penalty area. he'll miss as many as he scores, but he gets into the right positions. Last year with County, we were creating plenty of chances, and that's why he scored so many.. I think we all said he would struggle in the SPL with Caley. Basically because strikers in the SPL need to do a lot o tracking back and helping out in other areas of the field. Barrowman isn't that sort of player. I suppose you could liken him to Kris Boyd in that he is good at finding the back of the net, but don't expect any more from him. Still, with the chances County have created and missed this season, I would take him back to Dingwall in a heartbeat - even if it was a loan deal, and you never know.. Caley's top goalscorer this season could well score most of the goals for County !
  16. The other thread mentions that the player in question is in fact Barrowman. It was reported in the Daily Record today, with a Caley source quoted... what a surprise Caley again conducting their transfers in the media... Normally though they do it to unsettle a player they want to sign, this time they are doing it to unsettle a player they already have.. Mind you in saying a "Caley source" seems that they have a rumour and no one in any official capacity is willing to put their name to it. Why would Barrowman need a trial at Tinkerdome? Surely your hot headed management team already know that he is an excellent striker against part time defences but not so good crap against defenders who have had a decent amount of training in the game. Why does any player from an SPL side need a trial at a lower league club then ? Surely any manager who does research would know a players capabilities. I guess saying on "trial" is just a way of describing they are waying up the options regarding him

  18. Trying to find a way out of the club by the looks of it.. Maybe he's after Brewster's job.. You steal our players so why not our manager too ! Hearing tonight that Bullock has walked out of the club too.. Not confirmed anywhere yet though.. Just rumoured. Would you be interested in him too !!
  19. Is that the "Vote of confidence" for the manager.... You know what usually follows the vote of confidence ! I see that proctor was in the paper today drumming up support for Brewster.
  20. An on-line petition has been set-up requesting that the youth teams of the three teams involved be re-instated into this league. If you would kindly take a moment of your time to sign this it would be greatfully appreciated. On-line Petition Thanks
  21. I have a look in this site most days, mainly just to see what County player Brewster has added to his shopping list, or to see which player he doesn't rate anymore that we could get for a knock down price. But for the last year or two there has been two groups established on this site - the pro-caley group who can't see anything bad about the club regardless of how bad things are, and the negative Caley group who can't see any good regardless of how good the club are doing... There are very few fans who have a realistic view on events.. so threads become either back patting exercise or a slagging match. So I just read (and sometimes laugh), but rarely post anymore. This week is an exception though, as we now have bragging rights until the two teams meet again !
  22. Totally agree. 8-0 win will do nicely :004:
  23. We did it last pre-season and the one before at County as part of the Save Our Staggies fundrasing. Both were great events, although the fans were hammered in both games. For the first game we charged it at ?100 for a full 90 minutes and ?20 per place on the bench, with the promise you'd only get on if someone failed to last the full 90 minutes. - It so turned out that we had six subs, and in order to keep the score down the fans team had 17 players on the pitch at one point ! For that ?100 though we also had an evenings training for the fans players with the coaches at County which was probably a better experience than the game it's self. We also go Davie Kirkwood (the youth coach) to be manager of the fans team for the evening. Also man of the match awards etc were handed out afterwards. To be honest though, the game was nothing more than a kick about. Save Our Staggies closed this year year though through lack of interest, but prior to it closing the plan for this pre-season was to have a "play with the team" where both teams had half and half of fans and players, that way we might have kept the game more competative..... Another Idea though.
  24. I never seen the report myself, but it has been talked about on our site too. If you ask me it's a bit of poor journalism, basically trying to make up a story in the vacuum of the pre-season. Was it based on the fact we have scored 32 goals in five friendlies so far ?? But then they wouldn't have looked at our defence has leaked 6 goals in those five games against lower league opposition ! I'm under no illusions that we will have a very tough season this year. You could look at it an say we won the league last year easily. But we only finished 7 points ahead of Airdrie, who failed to beat Clyde (who finished 9th in the 1st) in the play-off final. And Clyde won both those games quite easily if reports are to be believed. Yes we have added to our squad, but then we have also lost a number of players, none more so than a player who netted 29 times for us last season :017: Above all that, you have to look at Dundee, St. Johnstone, Dunfermline, Partick, Queen of the South.. All these teams also have the ambitions to win the league and most of them have also added quality players to their squads. One thing about the first division is that a run of four wins will take you from bottom to top of the league, while four defeats on the trot could see the a fall in the opposite direction. With every team capable of beating each other the first division is a bit of a lottery as to who will win it. I for one would be happy with a 7th place finish next season. Tomorrow night will be a good bench mark for both teams.
