  1. Match report here
  2. Reserves are in action tonight against Hearts. Should be a good game and very reasonable admission prices. 7pm kick off. Details here Gutted I can't make it but I have to work. Also Gretna are playing County in the Challenge cup in Dingwall, thought that might be a good game too.
  3. They still had some in the shop last time I was down. Think they are only £9.99. :004:
  4. John Robertson certainly helped the team move on a bit and Craig Brewster also put his stamp on the team, but the person who got us where we are today is 'without a doubt' the one and only Steve Paterson. We are still playing today with what was basically his team. Each manager has made a few changes, but we still have the core of Pele's team. Our success has been down to the fact that we have a 'team' rather than a group of individuals. They play for each other and for the club. Steve Paterson built the team and let's not forget that. I have full confidence in Charlie as manager, especially with Donald Park by his side. Charlie might not be experienced as a manager, but you certainly couldn't say the same of Parkie. I might have been a bit worried if Charlie took the post without an experienced assistant, and I think Charlie would be the first to agree with that. Together they can do the job. The players respect both CC and DP which is also a big bonus. This hasn't always been the case in the past and although the players are professional and carry on doing their best, you are bound to get more out of a 'happy' team.

  6. I can assure you that our team won't need too much motivating for next week's game. The chance to get one over Brew (again) will be motivation enough. This is a special game for them and they will be up for it big time. I suspect Charlie might make some tactical changes to avoid the familiarity that Brew thinks he has with the players.
  7. It has been widely reported that he isn't yet match fit. No point having him in the squad if we have enough fit players.
  8. Glad to be able to tell you that the passports have now arrived at the Stadium. If you are planning travelling to the Motherwell game and are entitled to a passport (Season tickets holders 12 and under) then please get in touch with Andrina at the club and if possible pop in to pick them up. The club will send them out, but they are doubtful that they will all be processed in time for Saturday. There should be confirmation of this on the Official Site
  9. Then hand it in. It would be funny if one of us won it. We could have a laugh with it or auction it or something. Just think it would be a laugh if a non Celtic fan won it. :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015:
  10. Remember there is a Celtic shop in Debenhams. Unfortunately our local papers are revenue led and this will sell papers whether we like it or not. I think we should all enter just for a laugh.
  11. Come on guys where did this all come from. Rig I think Charlie has realised that not mentioning names to the press is a good idea. He didn't want to mention names in case someone else came in for them. The first I saw on Dean Shields was in Friday's Courier (after the deadline). Also John Stewart was kept under wraps until after the deadline although I had heard it was a possibility. Gary McSwegan is cover for up front and has or will sign until the end of the season. Blackieforce - stop being so sensitive. I thought everything has been going really well on this new site - don't spoil it now by going in the huff. Deja Vu right enough. I don't think rig was having a go at you, just slightly differing opinion. My thoughts on McSwegan were the same seems like a panic deal, but I wasn't convinced as I couldn't find anything definite. I spoke to someone last night who told me he was here until the end of the season and the official site confirms him as a trialist on Saturday in the testimonial in Wick. I think that it is only the fact that they had the weekend off that has delayed the signature. And before someone jumps in to point out that I have contradicted myself, the players did have the weekend off, but some of the 1st team offered to go to Wick for the guy's testimonial as they thought it would be nice for him to have some of the 1st team represented. Back to rig and blackieforce, if you want to carry on your silly squabble, then you can do it by PM and not necessarily on this forum.

    mcswegan

I confidently moved this topic back to 'on the park' after having his signing confirmed, but according to the match report from the Wick game McSwegan is just a trialist. Just a technicality I'm sure as it happened late on Thursday night. County must just have released him, which means he can sign with us anytime.

    Wick 3 Caley 4

Official Site Match Report Notice McSwegan is mentioned as a trialist. He must have been released from his contract at county which means he can sign at any time, but possibly not yet put pen to paper.

Sorry guys but this had to be moved back to 'On the Park'. No joke I'm afraid. Signed until the end of the season. We had a team playing in a testimonial in Wick today. Some of the 1st team offered to go up as they had a free weekend anyway. I am very reliably informed that McSwegan played his first game for us today. (forgot to ask if he scored!!) If he can put a few goals away and it helps the cause, then I suppose he's good cover and he might be able to pass on some of his experience to our youngsters.

If he wants to go down the coaching role, that would make sense as Charlie is wanting to expand the backroom staff. He may be allowed to work on his badges and contribute to the coaching. This is only a thought and based on absolutely nothing. :003: :003:
  16. Nothing sinister Johnboy. Your rank is Youth player etc and is identified by your number of posts. As you move up through the 'ranks' then your privileges increase a bit as Scotty said. Although if somebody just posted a lot of repeat or particularly bad post just to increase their 'rank' this would be noticed by Moderators or Admin and the persons privileges would be decreased rather than increased. The good thing about this site is that if someone misbehaves there are many courses of action that can be taken without banning them outright. Restricted privileges being one of the ways. That's my understanding of it anyway.
  17. :tongue03: :tongue03: You're just jealous. :003: :003:
  18. I always knew that TV cameras appeared to put on lbs, but on this occasion it looks more like stones. :015: :015: Good day out though
  19. No panic just yet. I was listening on the radio yesterday and it seemed we played some really nice football. 4-1 definitely flatters the jambos. For those who missed the commentary it seemed like the first goal should never have been allowed to happen as it was a pass back which Craig Gordon collected. But we must learn not to waste time protesting as while we protested to the ref Hearts were already up the park and scored. Bad decision but we could have dealt with it better. They were really impressed with Bayne's goal and excellent cross from Barry. We missed a number of chances (this is probably the main point) we have to convert goal scoring opportunities. Wyness injured didn't help as I think he would have scored. Not sure about the second goal, but the 3rd was a gift from Rosscoe (not often he can be blamed - so just an unfortunate ball mis timed) and the 4th I assume came because we had committed everyone forward to try to get something from the game. We played 3 up front for the last while in the game. I for one admire Charlie's ability to make subs at the right time and he isn't frightened to change the tactics and push forward. Unfortunately that left gaps yesterday, but on another day he might have got the goals we needed with this formation. No panic - we played really well and some really nice one touch football, which is what I think we all enjoy watching. I felt on Wednesday night we were lacking confidence in front of goal and that might also have been the case yesterday. Just one of these days.

    car park madness

Inverness Taxis are a good enough company, but they wouldn't have had many cars working through the day on Sunday so that would explain that. Still better to be honest and say they couldn't cover it than let you down. Glad we were able to help anyway. Back to the Car Park. I don't use it as a rule, but tonight there was a low crowd and I was really early so was parked near the front and near the gate. Thought I couldn't go wrong, but an over zealous steward was letting everything out in front of me. I was at the front of the line and if I tried to move when I saw a space she stopped me. Even when there was nothing else moving towards the gate and I had a clear run at it, she told me to wait and she would get to me in a minute. Only when she looked round and realised there was nothing stopping me, she let me go. :008: :008: :008: :008: It still cleared relatively quickly as there was a low crowd and obviously less traffic on Stadium Road, but there was still clear signs of the ego that comes with yellow jacket.

    Dods

I think Dods is quite a role model within the team and I would think he has the makings of a good coach. He could work a bit like Barry does at the moment, helping with the reserve team while working for his badges. I would like something settled one way or the other soon. It's getting very boring now.

    Tarts Ref?

    One of Caley100's favourite I think. :015: :015: :015:
  23. Barry returned to training yesterday and should be fit. Bayne in for Dargo, who is carrying a bit of a knock from Sunday, but even if he is fit Bayne will start. Charlie has high hopes for Bayne as he can hold the ball up well and just needs a bit of confidence. He has been in on his time off working on his touches, so he deserves a chance to get his goal scoring off to a start. I would expect Caff and maybe even Golly to start and it would be good to see Michael Fraser in goals. He is a very capable keeper who will only benefit from a bit more experience. Charlie has said definitely 3 changes but could be 4 or 5. I don't think Charlie and Parkie will be daft enough to underestimate Dumbarton (especially after last nights results). I think that, even with the planned changes we will field a team more than capable of winning through to the next round. I'm looking forward to it.
  24. Shock result of the round so far has to be a win for Dundee Utd. :015: :015: :015:
  25. I'll give you old wifie. :001: :001: :001: :crazy03: :crazy03: :crazy03: :crazy03: :crazy02: The things we do for money. (and a free top)
