  1. IMHO he could actually be a decent replacement for Blackie. I haven't seen much of him but when I have seen him he's impressed me. To borrow a phrase from Jimmy Hill, he's a real 'box to box' midfielder.
  2. What are this weeks lottery numbers?
  3. I remember some County fans at the end of last season saying they didn't care if Rankin left, as long as they held onto Cowie. Then again, these are the same fans who worshipped the likes of Frank Escalon, Karim Boukra and Tassos Venetis - while hounding the likes of Owen Coyle, Roy McBain and Richie Hart out of Victoria park. :024: Maybe not what you'd call 'switched on' fans up there.
  4. My Highland league following mate tells me that Inverurie Locos have the best keeper. Anyone ever heard of him?
  5. It didn't look like that yesterday. He held the ball under pressure as well as anyone since Brewster. And his passing success ratio must have been about 90%. Not to mention how well he struck up an understanding with our midfielders whose runs he kept picking out time and again. Surely he can improve his strength and stamina with a few hard sessions in the gym every week?
  6. I think Rankin's got the potential to surpas Robson.
  7. Oh dear, I really hope this is a wind up!
  8. You're accusing me of 'attack minded vitriol'? Your OTT reaction suggests you're a bit of a knee-jerk character, and a rather insecure chap IHE (either that or a criminal defense lawyer). :024:
  9. Don't know what kind of scouting network Charlie has in place - but it doesn't look good signing most of our players from County. And now that Peles back in business with the fishermen he'll probably 'hook' all of the best HL talent (sorry for the pun) like he did so well with us. I think we need to beef up our scouting network. The signing of Ridgers from Clach is an embarresment quite frankly.
  10. He didn't exactly get 'stuck in' today like he does at his best. Perhaps it's harsh to claim his heart's not in it every time he has a below par performance.
  11. Whatever pills Charlies been giving him are working. :017:
  12. Can you name a better left winger outside of the OF? Don't forget that he was in the Scotland future squad along with Blackie and Dargo, and unlike them he's actually IMPROVED since then. Perhaps the new Scotland gaffer will take notice.
  13. I wonder if the Brahan Seer predicted this? :024: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/8287/seer2.html
  14. I heard from an insider that McSwegan has been working has @rse off for the last 3 months - doing more 'extra curricular' training in the gym than any other player. He's supposed to be fitter and sharper than he's been for years. I think he probably deserves a chance to show his worth if this is the case. He was supposed to have impressed when he came on against Hibs a while back, so if he's even better now than he was then I guess he could probably do a job for us. It doesn't make good business sense to bring in a 6th striker. If the worst comes to the worst (and remember we have 3 fit, and 2 to come back in weeks - so aren't exactly desparate) we could play someone like Bazza, Blackie or Rankin up front. Also, after todays performance, McAllister looks like he can do a job for us. He should have gotten man of the match today and probably would have if he hadn't tired in the last 15 minutes. His control, holding of the ball, and distribution were all first class - he barely gave the ball away once. They couldn't get near him. Bayne ran his socks off again - and deserved his goal. He must be one of the fittest players in our squad because he still looked fresh at the final whistle. The only weakness in his game is that he never beats his man. There were a couple of occasions when he had run ins on the last defender and ended up going wide. If he could learn a few dribbling tricks, or maybe even just ONE trick - like the Wyness stepover or the Tokely shuffle, he'd be deadly.
  15. Is he not forgetting that we also lost 2 players to knocks? I find it hard to believe that he's playing the victim card here, neutrals listening to his interview could be forgiven for getting the impression that he's the Brazil manager, and they've just come up against Wimbledon. The only 2 players who deserved to get sent off today were Lennon and Jurassic Park (Jarosik) for kicking players off the ball. Even just the size difference between most of their players and our players (Jarosic, Venegoor, McManus, Pressley, etc vs Rankin, Duncan, McBain etc) renders Strachans 'analysis' absurd. As for the 'we tried to play football' b*llshit, why were Mcgeady and Maloney on the bench if that was the case? THEY were the ones who ended up resorting to wimbledon tactics.
  16. Hindsight is 20 20. How can you possibly criticize the gaffer so harshly after we've just played the best team in the country off the park? You're such a dummy spitter. I'll bet if he hadn't taken Blackie on and we'd lost you'd be on here slagging Christie for NOT taking Blackie on. Try changing your username to Coco the clown.
