It's noted that low number of posts from the predominantly negative, but NOT constructive, posters who rarely suggest any interesting solutions to the problem going forward other than the sacffold for John, signifies their lack of trepidity in launching into tirades of criticism against John Hughes and then long- serving posters like IHE who have brought a breath of fresh air into this website for many a year and more. Whose loyalty to the club is beyond reproach which includes enough loyalty to all new managers to accord them respect that they deserve of being given a fair time to make changes that may be beneficial in the long run. Yet George, for example, with his impressive 28 posts doesn't think it prudent to curb his acrimonious and ultra critical tongue because he doesn't know diddly squat about the views of the main body of posters on here, many of whom are clearly not posting on this thread because they are heartily sick of the constant girning and whining of the few and can't be bothered to reply. It's one thing to cry for rights to express an opinion but another to present it in such a lopsided way as to leave the impression that there is no way on earth that it will not fall off the table before the sun has set in the West. Especially when nothing they say in that vein will have the slightest effect on the decision of the Board to continue to follow their present course, regardless. What we need here is thoughtful and FAIR posters who can see the wood for the trees, can curb their stifling negativity long enough to actually present some positive, uplifting and semi-practical solutions for consideration and development by all right-minded fans which also, of course, includes the fact that Mr Hughes will be staying for quite a while. At this stage his sacking will achieve little of value and it might result in other so-called good managers getting apprehensive enough to NOT apply for the then vacant managerial position at ICT. The Board is NOT going to react in the same way that they think because the members of the Board are mature business persons and rational and reasonable people NOT usually likely to go into orbit with knee jerk reactions. And NOT young bucks feeling their oats and letting that feeling overcome their brains.

Tichy--you obviously have a passionate interest in Thistle. Since you were brought up very close to the old Caley park located at Tellford Street why is it that you didn't support the Caley first? Just asking? Meantime, back at the ranch, how is your Mum and Dad? Sincerely hope they are well--very fond memories of your Dad when we played together. Kindest regards S.P.

He is a lightweight, easily bowled over so, when the big, bad, demented player fella hit him with intent he had two choices of thinking really quickly in view of the fact that what happened came as a terrible shock to him and he had no time to physically react with a head butt on the face of the about to offend guy in a red shirt accompanied by one of the following : 1. Prepare to go down with a thud in the best way he could think of in the split second just prior to impact--thereby gaining sympathy all round and, hopefully, a red card for the player. 2. Prepare to go down on his bottom by bending forward at the crucial second immediately prior to before impact to allow his head to be kicked off by the bbf's knee. 3. Throw himself backwards risking a real crack on his head on what, presumably, is a concrete walking area. Since he had no time to react, let alone think, it seems we can assume that choice number three was involuntary but precipitated by a surge of monstrous fear because when you see it all in slow motion it's apparent that , in the millisecond before the bulldozer hit him, his right lip contorted upward forcing that eye to close and the other eye opened up wider out of terror and the need to balance out his facial muscles. This put him into a catatonic shock leading to immediate paralysis of the right brain lobe and he was felled semi-conscious and totally incapable of breaking his fall. Needless to say the back of his head hit the concrete but he sustained no recurring injury since it was actually turf and that is the sole reason why the horrible attacker was not charged with assault with a weapon. On reviewing the evidence, however, M'Lud, it may be that the vicious attacker was innocent of the vile thought of "intent" and simply stumbled at the last moment of approach. He was tired and looked wan, even looked as if he was having a bout of 'flu and devious and doughty Derek tried to take advantage of him by giving him a challenging and very negative stare-down as the alleged miscreant stumbled desperately to leave the field of play. Prior to posting this I consulted with the seer, IHE, who confirmed my medical diagnosis since he studied that mental condition in the first year of his psychology course at UNIVERSITY. It's all his fault anyway since SEER's are supposed to foresee bad things and tell about them to warn people but decided not to reveal the impending doom of Derek for very personal reasons. But I intend to keep my bargoons and have posted my cheque for 100 quid today, Itchy,in payment of my consultation fee. A Pimple always pays his debts, even to crafty Seers. -

Bottoms can heal but concussion can last for years and cause premature aging and dementia. Tests and medical evidence proves that this kind of attack is foolhardy and almost criminal. Stamp it out SFA, now. -
As has been suggested, the new incoming wealthy members of their Board or Executive will just have to pony-up more cash. Failing that , they will face the loss of any money already sunk in and condemn Glasgow Rangers to a very uncertain future for this once mighty and prestigious club. It's never-ending tomfoolery on a grand scale. Awesome actually. It can't go on forever and anyone else who fancies his/her chance as the sole investor of millions must be out of his or her mind to even contemplate it. The grandeur and fame of the past will bring few rewards in the immediate future to the New Chancers , I fear. Looks as if Rangers could be finally doomed to oblivion.

Butcher to United? Ha. Ha! Wouldn't that be something --the headlines would be writ large and blaring in the English papers. And a final word, Sneckboy, if I may--there is no comparison between Butcher and Hughes because, so far as I can assess, Mr T B went behind the back of the management of ICT to set himself up and then quit. He also then ran down the club afterwards. I have never heard that Mr J Hughes ever did something like this nor is he ever likely to. So I would never trust T B at our club again whereas it seems that J Hughes has much more character and can be trusted. I think what you see with J H is what you get and I will settle for that for starters. We'll see what happens next season--if he can get the team working for him you just never know what the outcome may be. In the most recent game against the Dons I noted how they seemed to run out of ideas in the second half so ICT can do very well with more encouragement and teamwork. So--there you go! A little bit of football talk from the Wild West.

At this time I think it would be a wrong move for Nick Ross because I think it will Butcher his career. Guaranteed playing time in the first team might sound not at all bad but he will be up against some forward looking and highly committed teams and if circumstances don't allow him to perform I think desperation will compel TB to bench him in favour of some higher-flying English lad. Despite Nick's skills he is rather lightweight and can be brushed off the ball fairy easily whereas at ICT the other guys in our team can shield him more readily since they have known him longer etc.

Sneckboy--c'mon, he has only recently got his feet under the table. Be fair and stop comparing him to other folks in a different era.

He fell like he was poleaxed and could have suffered serious concussion with the back of his head hitting the ground so hard. Obviously he did not expect it at all. A very deliberate and serious assault and it deserved several match bans and a very heavy fine. -
For the Hibs it must be unthinkable. And worse for the fans, poor souls. I am not being sarcastic- I feel for them. Any thoughts of superiority, however, after they are relegated will have to be well and truly smothered because they will be up against teams who are up-and-coming and determined to be in the mix for promotion at the end of the season. It is going to be very hard for T B to motivate them after they suffer the demoralisation of demotion. He will have to bring in sprightly up-and-coming new lads from England,or something, to have any chance of success. So watch out, ICT, here comes the poacher for our lads. It will be VERY interesting to see which of our players, if any, will be brave enough to consider a move to Easter Road under this guy. Oor John must look more and more attractive by the minute. Whee!
-
The Hibs fans don't appear to value , or care about, his past reputation and/or performance and want wins now! One more season is all he has to change things around and if it continues the way it is I will be surprised if he completes the new season at Easter Road. I can't help but wonder also if there remains a complacency from past glories at Easter Road that did not exist at our Stadium when T B came on board. In short, the spirit on show all season here at Tulloch seems to far surpass that of the Hibs outfit in general. The real question is do they think that they are still a cut above the rest? Or do these feelings simply appear to exist because by feeling them they make it easier on themselves to face up to the present deteriorating situation, being a terrible reflection on this once highly -thought-of club?

On a lighter note I was tickled by Tichy's BEAR cartoon. Very clever.,, finely tuned sense of humour, TBB. That will make it easier for Yogi to "grin and bear It" I am sure. And as for your questions, IHE, I will only bother to answer the last one because it woke me up and the answer to that one is an emphatic NO. He is an opportunist to the bone. Although that might be his very undoing since I am getting twinges of sympathy as I watch his face getting more ashen by the week. Learning life's lessons the hard way can be rough and " been there, done that' can sometimes allow you not to gloat --- at least not 100%.

The Vikings used Hull to land in the NorthEast and attack and settle in York. Is that of interest? Otherwise I guess this is like Shakespeare's ode "Much ado about Nothing". Or, it's a lot of Hull-abaloo about AN OLDER MAN'S RAVINGS AFTER IMBIBING A LARGE GLASS OF SMIRNOFF ? -

Oh my! I hear a distress call already from the other finalist..."Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! It's not exactly a foregone conclusion so the result may go their way or it may not! Maybe aye or maybe Och aye. As for Mr May I have liked his style and , particularly, his goals. I wonder if John Hughes does also. With Billy on the left and May on the right how potent would that be? The dynamic duo, or what?
-
And , if so, Rod Petrie will lose face, so---not at all sure about that scenario happening. But he had better be prepared to spend money because Mr B has failed totally to "bring out the best" in his available players. No wonder T. B is looking very worried-- he should be. If Hibs can him then who will hire him?
-
reefinweedallday no! It depends on how fast you run, and how far, whether or not you end up in court. Ha?

IHE, Hull is rather standard fare...my father was born close by--in Goole I think. Situated on the river Humber isn't it? Nice wee country pub at Blacktoft village also on the river and not THAT far away where my aunt lived before she passed away. Anyway, if this helps, at the age of 14 I was met off the train in Hull by an older woman who took me to the pictures---or maybe it was for a walk. Oh yes! It was for a walk 'cos she curdled in me a desire to do something I shouldn't oughter But I refused to surrender my principles until she persuaded me with a winsome smile...and so I boughter. -
Well,l, as my Dad used to intone. "There are no bad whiskies, some are just better than others."
-
I'll give Terry Butcher one more season and, if the rot isn't stopped, I am afraid that TB will be toast. Just don't think that Rod Petrie will be able to afford him unless the fans trot in the door again.

:lol:If you don't have the black to contrast the white how do we know what colour we are looking at? Unless they are accompanied by something designed to up-lift our spirits, of course. Er--like my hand on a glass of Chivas Regal ..eh? So negative criticisms do have their place. Mostly in the dustbin.

There's many a slip twixt cup and lip, Mr Butcher. I think you may still be at Easter Road next season but, if things don't go according to plan, then your career may be well-nigh over. And also remember you had better be nice to the people on the way up because you may need them to be nice to you on your way down. And that doesn't mean betrayal .
