Hughes comments
storm in a teacup IMHO .... What Hughes says to the press and what he says to the players are two different things and most of it is open to interpretation depending on your particular viewpoint. What really matters occurs on that big green space in front of the dugout and that's what I will judge him on ........

Mckay to Fleetwood/Frankfurt/Fraserburgh?
Where did the £65K figure come from ? have read a few articles and not one of them mentioned a number .....

Mckay to Fleetwood/Frankfurt/Fraserburgh?
Doing a very basic search it seems the record transfer fee paid by Fleetwood for a player was 'undisclosed' but rumoured to be in the region of £300K. That was last year when they met the buy out clause figure for Jamille Matt from Kidderminster Harriers. He replaced Jamie Vardy who had been sold to Leicester for upwards of £1m Sounds like they may have some dosh but realistically, Billy has got to be worth more than that and I have no idea if they can meet the figures we (the supporters) will bandy around .... whether they would meet the club valuation is another question as we don't know what the club valuation is ... but hopefully Fleetwood come out soon and say Billy was too expensive !!!

Positive or Negative
yeah, that would be a good positive way to celebrate our own 20th anniversary! We have our fair share of negative posters, but my own opinion is that it is balanced out by "happy clappers" and a fair number of 'balanced' posters. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if you are going to base your support of a club entirely on forum postings (or for that matter facebook or twitter which is where our 'orphans' would end up if we took your ludicrous suggestion seriously) then perhaps supporting a football team - any team - is not a wise choice for that potential supporter. As for the press .... forums, facebook, twitter etc just make things easy for them ... if they didnt have that then they would just make it up anyway! Players and management do read this (in varying degrees) but very few take it seriously (especially the negative posts)

Prediction League 2014-15
Our SPFL Prediction League has now been configured for the 2014-15 season. Well done to Doofer's Dad for winning last year ..... The month of August is now open for predictions (5 games). http://caleythistleonline.com/page/predictionleague.html To take part in this you need to register. Your registration for the forum does not log you in automatically as its a separate system. If you are one of the users who finished last season (will attach a graphic with the standings) then you are already registered but will need to join the 2014 league in your profile. If you are a newbie or returning player you will need to re-register. its a pretty straightforward process though. How it works We (myself or Gringo) will add the SPFL fixtures prior to matches (usually a few weeks prior) and you simply choose the final score. Predictions need to be in before kick-off time as the system automatically closes things at that time. Points are awarded as follows: 5 Points for predicting the correct number of goals by at least one team. 5 Points for predicting the correct number of goals for the home team. 5 Points for predicting the correct number of goals for the away team. 25 Points for a correct score. i.e. you predict 3-1 and the result is 3-1. 10 Point for a correct result. You predict 1-1, the score is 2-2. 0 Points for a incorrect result. i.e. you predict 3-1 and the result is 1-3. +10 bonus points for the user with the highest weekly total +10 bonus points for the user with the highest monthly total +variable bonus points for selected games throughout season where you predict correct score (10 bonus points for each game in August, +25 for each ICT game) The winner is the person with the most points at the end of the season. simple really. Postponed / TV Games When games are re-arranged due to weather or other postponements we will try to make sure we enter the new date when announced so it remains open for prediction. For TV games, we will normally have the dates/times correct as we only enter data a few weeks in advance (after TV schedules are announced). The "My Predictions" or "My Missing Predictions" links are your friend in making sure you dont miss these when predicting. Prize ? Bragging rights ... its just for fun ! Any other questions ? ask in the topic below ...... 2013/14 Final Standings

New Home Shirt 2014-15
mmm, will take peoples word for it that it looks better in person until I get to see it up close myself ..... at first glance, it looks like the players are wearing a blue cardigan with red edges over the top of a white t-shirt !!! On a personal level, I also hate round necked shirts and wish V necks or button down tops would make a comeback.

Merger Talk
Like everywhere else there are those that overdo it, but no, for the most part, no hassles. The odd beer has been thrown at opposing players when something happens, but at $14 a pop there's no chance of that happening in Scotland Its not just about alcohol though. I see a huge contrast now when I have been to games compared to how it used to be. Some rules have sense, but like many other areas of life, the application of those rules has gone too far and there is little enjoyment in an environment where you are expected or even required to 'sit down, shut-up, & dont dare engage in banter with the opposition' and pay for the privilege ! no need for me to sit on any fence. I simply see merit in both sides of the argument. I am a 'terrace' guy at heart, and it seems I have come full circle now ... standing in a seated area at TFC where that is allowed, taking part in chants and songs aimed at the opposition, and now with club sanctioned smoke and flares ....

Merger Talk
Think that is a sign of the times to be honest. Most of the fun has been legislated out of football with rules about stadia, seating, standing, chanting, and yes alcohol. For me, growing up, football was a release at the end of the week. I could have a few beers, let off steam, hurl some insults at the opposition and generally enjoy myself. Yes some people overdid it and got in trouble, but for most I would say it was like this. Nowadays that good natured and perhaps slightly drunken behaviour would get me ejected from the ground or even lifted !!! Maybe its good I am a Toronto season ticket holder .... this behaviour is encouraged !!!! Just as Scotland once attracted 100,000 to Hampden or the Maracana had just shy of 200,000 for the 1950 World Cup Final !!! Football is a different beast now in terms of cost and other options available for leisure and comparisons to the 60s, 70s or 80s even are like comparing apples and oranges. I dont doubt IHE in the slightest or for that matter CB, they are different sides of the argument. I know quite a few folk who wont even say the name of ICT, but equally, I know others who never followed either .... its the past, we should never forget the history, and in many respects our generation of ICT supporters are both the pioneers and the 'lost' generation. Pioneers for following the new club but lost in a flurry of emotions or opinions about past and present allegiances (including other 'big' teams when Caley or Thistle were in the HFL). The generations that follow us will hopefully not have so much baggage !

Player Sponsorship 2014/15
Just for clarity ..... sponsoring a home top is the only way you get a strip .... when you sponsor a 'lesser' item, the gift from the club at the end of the season can vary .... over the last few years for the other items we sponsored (training tops, boots etc) we received a full-sized ball, a mini-ball, and an ICT mug depending on the item sponsored.

Player Sponsorship 2014/15
I am not sure there is enough interest, but if people want to add their names to the list in here I wont close this thread (yet). BUT we wont accept any payments until we have enough people. I do not want to get into a situation where we are half a dozen pledges towards our goal and it stagnates and we then end up either having to pay the rest ourselves, or refund monies.
-
Player Sponsorship 2014/15
Yes we did. I am now marking this group as complete and 'membership closed' and will ask the club to invoice us for the sponsorship.

The world cup!
DD - You got that right about Messi! Heck even Maradona is blasting it as a "marketing ploy" by FIFA due to Messi's status as an "Adidas Ambassador" and of course Adidas are major 'partners' of FIFA at the World Cup along with Emirates Airlines which also explains the flight attendants with the medals! He looked uninterested - or perhaps blasé? - for much of the tournament and didnt even score in the knockout stages and the expression yesterday when he got the award after losing seemed to be one of embarrassment. Thomas Mueller had more goals/assists and was perhaps a candidate, but for me, I keep coming back to James Rodriguez of Colombia. 6 goals in 5 games plus 2 assists ...... but no guy called Jimmy is ever going to win the World Cup Golden Ball !!!

Ex-ICT players' news
Thats an interesting stat ... but wrong .... unless you mean league goals (or goals from open play)? Barrowman - 3 goals in 41 appearances (17 starts) - Killie/Aberdeen in league, Motherwell in Cup. Goal Vs Killie was a penalty! Pepper - 2 goals in 15 appearances (3 starts) - Vs Hibs & Hearts

New Home Shirt 2014-15
Personally, I don't think its 'delay', it always seems to be 'pecking order' although on this occasion we do seem to have an element of delay due to the new sponsor !!! ICT are an extremely small fish in a far larger pond. We would sell what, maybe 1000 replica shirts a season if we are lucky? It may never be confirmed but IMHO Errea will always put us further down the list compared to teams where the sales will be higher ... and that likely includes Kilmarnock. Adidas? Nike? anyone else? different shirts perhaps but the same scenario .... money talks and these guys are all about money. Where I do see the grumbles having legitimacy is the delay in showing the supporters what the kit looks like and maybe building some interest. That's largely a marketing decision, but I have seen situations in the past where Errea take months to provide anything other than a drawing (ie. a physical kit) and most supporters want to see the real thing, worn by one of the players not a conceptual drawing ..... In a perfect world we would have our strip announced at the end of the previous season, and available for sale during the off-season ..... but its not a perfect world !

The world cup!
especially when you consider the Muslim players (which was most of the Algerian team, and a couple of the Germans) could not even drink water due to Ramadan. Thought the Algerians played very well but just lacked that killer touch.
