We Need Another Hayes!
In all honesty, I think you could be right !!! There are several areas of the world that are relatively untapped and that is one of them. I know I bang on about MLS "Soccer" probably more than I should on a Scottish Football forum, but I also feel this could be another relatively untapped market for young players. Everyone sees MLS as a place for aging European based pros to come for a bumper payday as their career winds down, but with the possible exceptions of the likes of David Beckham and Thierry Henry that's not altogether true. Its a league with a lot of average but decent pros, some really good players that no-one in Europe has heard of .... and, most exciting of all a fast growing youth sector. MLS makes it a condition of entry into the league that clubs must establish a "Soccer Academy" within their franchise and although I cannot speak for other clubs, we have seen the first few 'graduates' from Toronto's one come through last season. Of about 5 or 6 who were featured in the odd game last season for the first team, 2 of them are now signed into the squad and the others are on the fringes. With our new first team management duo of Aron Winter and Paul Mariner (who did well as Stevie Nicol's #2 at New England) running the main squad, and with Winter's buddy De Klerk from Ajax coming in to oversee the development of the Academy, I can only see TFC's academy getting better and better and starting to produce real talent ..... They have stated a desire for the "total football" philosophy for TFC, using Ajax as a model from the Academy right up to the first team .... interesting times ahead I hope. Will also let Terry know if I spot a real star !!!!

Inverness CT -V- Hamilton – Preview
Its ICT -V- Hamilton Accies this week and the preview is brought to you by Davie. Its one win apiece in fixtures between the teams this season with both of Accies goals (1 in each game) coming from the boot of former Caley Thistle player Dougie Imrie. enough of the preamble, here is Davie's preview: The Rough Guide Hamilton appears to be most famous for the motorway services on the M74. That’s the only mention it gets in the Time Out Guide to Scotland. The Rough Guide skips straight from haggis to Harris. There is no mention of things to do in Hamilton. As well as a racecourse, it does have an extremely large mausoleum with the longest echo in the world. “Is there anybody there, there, there, there”…. The Accies Hamilton does, at least have an academy or there would be no Accies – the only senior team in Britain to have been founded in a school. Yes I know about Wick. They won the old second division in 1904, but weren’t promoted as the top flight was by invitation only (and probably controlled by the ugly sisters) Sounds familiar. They used to play in cerise and French gray. Lovely. Honours have been thin on the ground but they did once do well in the B&Q cup. News Enough history boys and girls, what of today? Bottom of the league, Accies will travel north with more hope than they are entitled to. Injuries plague them, and their young defence was decimated by Rangers last week. That it stayed respectable was really due to the foot being taken off the pedal in the second half. After all they had an upcoming fixture on Tuesday against quality opposition……… For ICT, is Adam Rooney still here? Is Gill? Has Gregory Tade arrived? Is he going to? Previewing anything in this window is a nightmare, never mind the injuries. Is Jonny Hayes still here for that matter? We’ll just go with the same bodies that performed manfully at Castle Grayskull and hope for the best. Head to head This does not make good reading. We need to improve on a poor record between the sides. The visitors have won 2 of the 5 previous games, with the Caley Thistle winning just 1. The away form of Hamilton is pretty catastrophic, accumulating just 1 victory and 1 draw from their last six played. While the Accies have hit 4 goals, 14 have hit the back of the wrong net. For them at any rate. I steadfastly refuse to quote our home form – the recent slump must end soon. Accies have the token ex-jaggy in their ranks in the diminutive form of Douglas Imrie. The last time he visited these parts, he was treated to a pretty unedifying display of abuse at TCS and we know how he reacted. Mind you, he scored again at New Douglas Park as well, and look how we reacted. Think what you like about him, let’s not give him an excuse this time. Prediction 2-0. And not to them.

Rooney in talks with Hibs
It would be wrong of him not to explore all his options. Hibs ARE a bigger club than us with more resources and a bigger wallet in terms of wages. They may be lower in the table than us right now but they are a bigger club. If he does go there - or anywhere else - I will just be thankful we had him banging in goals when we needed him !!! PS - big clubs don't need to travel to lose. A certain club lost to lower league ICT on their own patch once upon a time.....and so did Hearts !!! Oh and ICT also managed to get royally rogered at Somerset before with Rossco almost having to walk home !!!

Terry Butcher interview
DFS has been in it for the long haul ... as we have seen over a number of years, although he has indicated he may be happy to dilute his influence if the right person came along and invested in the club. However, I feel Terry is also in no rush to go anywhere ... He had a good number at Motherwell and decided to leave, only to find the pastures were not greener. A few years of less than successful positions and he ended up at ICT. He seems to like the area, he speaks passionately about it and about the club, and must know he probably has one of the safest jobs in football right now ... If the Rangers or Ipswich jobs were to come along, and he was sought out, or if a high profile job in England became available then maybe ... but other than that, I think he is with us for a while .... and I like that idea !!!

World Cup 2022
No need ..... a 10 team league will have helped to move Scotland so far down the rankings by stifling youth development that we will narrowly miss out on this World Cup in a playoff with the Solomon Islands to get into the qualifiers so no break will be required !!! Seriously though .... experienced the very same situation this year in MLS which is already a summer league and one which probably has as many, if not more international players than the SPL. All that MLS did was to postpone all games for two weeks (for the first round stages) and then games recommenced. We could do the same and if any one (or two) team(s) had multiple players on International duty then postpone their games a bit longer.

Terry Butcher interview
I dont think it boils down to whose opinion you have the most respect for, you can respect an opinion and still disagree ! I have always respected DFS' opinion, even on those occasions when I have not agreed with it. Right now, I side with Terry Butcher's opinion, as it more closely resembles my own, but do not need to denigrate Mr Sutherland to take that position.

Terry Butcher interview
That would certainly be entertaining

Terry Butcher interview
Obviously havent seen or heard any footage but that was my immediate thought .... Say what you like about him, but he is not a stupid man. Velvet glove, Iron Fist springs to mind !!! He's as entitled to his opinion of his preferred format the same way as any of us are. We can agree or disagree with him as that is our choice but there have been a few posts in various threads this afternoon that amount to somewhat of a character assassination. Lets wind it in a bit with the overly personal stuff please. I would also respectfully disagree that he is motivated by greed !!! If he was, then his greed gene must have fallen out as he entered the doors at the TCS ! He has put far more into the club both publicly and privately, and at crucial times, than he has ever got back or is ever likely to. Yes it gives him a louder voice than the rest of us but it doesnt give him a profitable return on his bank balance which ultimately he must want if he is greedy like you say ! He may be ruthless in his other business ventures, but where ICT is concerned he has used that ruthlessness and business savvy to get us through a few difficult times with no return other than higher profile or good (and sometimes bad) PR.

What are your questions for Doncaster
I have no questions for him as I believe he has neither the integrity or intelligence to answer them honestly or with any degree of capability.

Time to take back OUR game
Hi Youngy First of all, dont get me wrong, I am NOT against your idea, although I tend to think that fans of our club would prefer to support our own club over this rather than partake in any boycott as they (the Club) have been consistent and vociferous in their opposition to the "South of Perth League" of 10. Twice in the past week or two our Chairman has issued press statements to clarify his position in relation to missives issued by the SPL that tried to spin it as if everyone was happy and of course everyone is now aware of the comments of Terry Butcher too. Your own club and Killie seem to be the others who are holding out and only Dundee United, who have done a complete U-turn and St Mirren who seem to be changing their minds depending on the wind direction were the other clubs opposed. One of our own members here has started a facebook page and I think it came up in that discussion about others. There have also been a few other mentions of petitions on here and on other sites which are doing the rounds. I am at work right now so no chance to go hunting for all the info but if any of our members want to post links to the various petitions/pages in this thread, it would be appreciated .......

Time to take back OUR game
Hi Youngy (or is it Troy McClure ?) ... your post reminds me of the Simpsons !!! "You might remember me from such campaigns as ....." Sorry for the skepticism, but there are lots of petitions going around right now, lots of facebook pages, lots of un-coordinated and separate little campaigns .... wondering how this one will be any different.
