  1. My understanding is that if running the team had been the only "pressure" on Charlie, he would have done fine (he had some pretty good results as boss) ..... but before you condemn him, just remember there was a ****load of internal politics going on at the same time and the pressures on him were not all related to running the team. Tough though it was to walk away from the post he wanted, he made the right decision at the time, and if he were to express an interest in the future (when there was less internal strife), I personally would have no qualms about giving him another shot. Having said that, all this talk of replacing Butcher is a waste of time anyway. We cannot afford to get rid of him even if we wanted to, and as I have said before (and I said about Charlie and Brewster when others began to call for their heads after 5 minutes), you need to give them time. Am i happy we have lost two league derbies so far this season, or that we have dropped points in games we might think we should have won, no of course I am not and TB may well prove to be the wrong man for the job but in my eyes, the jury is still out on that one. seems like we have two levels of discussion on here these days ...... "we did great, won a game and everything is great ...... BUT <insert problem/complaint here>" or "we lost, sack the manager, terminate contracts, blame Mike Smith (deprecated), sack the board" I know times are tough, we have lost games, we are all hurting, and we want ICT to be top of the league, but man oh man oh man, lets get back to being "supporters" because all we are looking like at the minute is gurning brats who turn on each other and our managers at the drop of a hat. Being a supporter doesnt mean we have to agree with everything, or that we cant be pissed off or raise concerns at how things are being run .... we can still moan or highlight deficiencies where they exist (and there are plenty to choose from), but every so often it would be great to see us support the team ..... some people do not seem capable of that. ICT's greatest era was in the 1st division where club, team and fans combined to form an awesome unit that made us impressive, hard to beat, and something we could all be proud of. The club have lost a lot of that ethos, but so have we and just reading the boards over the last few days (and responding very little - for me) I have wondered if we will ever get that back. Whether it is missiles being thrown at the game, or abuse of fellow ICT fans on here, this is turning into a very different club and set of fans than the ones I was once proud to be a part of.
  2. And some people complain that Rosscoe is a bit dirty :D
  3. excellent topic ......... assuming they wanted a managerial career (and had or get their badges) My top 3 [in no particular order] would be Darren Dods Stuart Golabek Mike Teasdale
  4. Scotty replied to a post in a topic in Caley Thistle
Sounds like my post after the first derby game ........

  7. You are part right ..... "Its the usal here" ... you type a load of tripe and then get all defensive or abusive when proved wrong or unable to back up your statement. If there is any bandwagon jumping going on, you are the one doing it. Thats because I checked my facts before posting. I dont doubt that Alex may have seen away end tickets on the County website. If he says he did, then I believe him. The fact of the matter is that when I checked some time later, just prior to responding to your "normal" style of derogatory posting, there was no option to purchase away stand tickets. If they were available earlier and not available when I checked, that would suggest that far from a ticketing shambles, ICT and RCFC were actually very efficient and removed the option when they sold out. so I ask again .... Where is the shambles on the ICT side??? Please explain?
  8. Someone hasn't told the County website then cos they can still be purchased there.Well ICT don't know about this cause when I went into buy tickets I was told the stand was sold out and only terrace avaliable. They did only send some terrace tickets to ICT to sell so maybe they never sent them the whole stand allocation either, but I guess ICT thinks that they did though! Also when I got tickets an old guy came in to get stand tickets but when told it was sold out he decided to leave it. Would be a shame if there was still tickets left for people like this and they don't know about it! Where is the shambles on the ICT side??? Please explain? The Stand tickets on sale on County website are HOME tickets only. There was no option to buy away ones when I checked 2 minutes ago. I would hazard a guess that ICT were sent a limited quantity of away stand tickets and these have sold out. Terracing tickets still available for Home and Away ends on the County site and judging by posts here, also from ICT.
  9. Marty, fair play to you for rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty in trying to do something for your local side. Doesnt matter if they are HFL or SPL, you are doing your best to try and help so kudos for that. Sadly, I think Mr Bannerman may be more objective in his observations and you might have a touch of the rose-tinted specs, but here's hoping that all the plans you have outlined for development come to fruition and the pitfalls are small and easily overcome. (PS - I also like how the position of "Webmaster/Youth development commitee/treasurer/merchandise" on the website contact page comes above Chairman, Manager, Secretary, Treasurer etc :004:) As CaleyD said, what you are doing is something that used to be encouraged at ICT but has eroded over time. I guess as ICT became more and more succesful, positions that used to be voluntary and "hobbyist" in nature took up more and more time and had to become professional paid positions which the original volunteers could not always commit to. The way in which volunteers were replaced was not always diplomatic and over time the whole thing began to look like the club didnt need, want, or appreciate any "outsiders" trying to help. Maybe a stint in the first division might shake the tree a bit and allow for a closer relationship between club and fans again. I hope so anyway. With regards to Clach, its a shame. I think there is a lot of goodwill towards them from many angles but for whatever reason, or combination of reasons they clearly dont seem to be sustainable at the moment. I would hate to see them go to the wall, but havent read anything that seems to indicate any light at the end of the tunnel .......
  10. my tuppenceworth .... Danny = Good Guy & Good Coach Danny coming back to ICT = not going to happen anytime soon. too many raw emotions involved. As far as dissecting the reasons, I would suggest we stop now. Its getting into the realms of personal stuff that we discourage and there are very few on this board (including myself) that would know fact from fiction in this story.
  11. Since you are in a pedantic mood let me point out that it is Mackintosh not MacIntosh :D
  12. I think we all knew who Pimple meant by his use of the phrase "manager of Hamilton Accies"
  13. This site was formed in 94 and although "independent" was classed by the club as the "officially endorsed" site and then as the "almost official" site from around 1996 to 2000. It then became the fully fledged official site for the club in 2000 until our elevation to the SPL in 2004 when it reverted back to independent status. The club advertised the official site on billboards, in the centre pages of the program and on some of the merchandise. In fact, a full 6 years after we were no longer the official site, I still got my last club shop order in a caleythistleonline.com poly bag ;) . There is no animosity from me over the fact we are not official any more. It was becoming harder and harder to have an independent forum and an official site together on the same platform. As the internet flourished, the official bodies were making it plain that clubs could be held accountable for ALL content on their sites including fan postings, and clubs were either censoring or closing down interactive elements like this. We resisted this change and although we did suggest we could provide two separate sites, this was not the chosen option. At that time, the club chose to go with a 3rd party provider who would provide them with the same template used by many SPL and English clubs. It gave them less freedom to display how and what thy wanted but did give them something we could not provide which was a bigger exposure to online advertising revenue. Yup. "perform group" or "Premium TV" can definitely provide this service but it comes at a significant cost to the club I believe. This was one of the first questions asked by me and others when they went with PTV (as we saw things like RedTV on the aberdeen site etc) and that was the response we received. Basically, the PTV platform is (or was at the time of the ICT deal) a generic bolt-on platform where clubs could pick as much or as litle as they liked from the menu and get their bill at the end of it !!!! You have your basic internet site, provided for free by the company. With that you get the generic stuff you see there now and to pay for it PTV take a percentage of all advertising revenue. The club are contracted to put a certain numbr of stories on the site per week or face the prospect of removal from the network. If you want, you can then add on things like video, the online shop and all manner of other things. Again, this comes at a cost either up front as a charge for bandwidth usage for things like audio/video or on an ongoing basis as a commission of all sales (shop). This may explain why the ICT-PTV club shop is now located on another network and why TV packages never materialised. Again, the club would be contracted to supply a certain number of articles or videos per week to make this viable or face removal from the network. If the club were to have handled all of this in-house, they would reap the benefits, but sadly, that option was rejected out of hand by Mr Smith .... and the rest, as they say, is history. I wont slag off the official site, or Fiona as she has to work within the limitations of the system chosen by others and put in front of her (as we did with Rivals and SportNetwork) and she does a great job, but the current site leaves a lot to be desired and hopefully I think Darren and others may realise that its not all about how many adverts you can fit on the site for your providers .... its more to do with how you can use the site as a tool to advertise, promote and support your own initiatives
  14. like many in today's society, there are those who would like the benefit without the bother of effort. we will endeavour to persuade them to make an effort and if they do so, we will match it ;)
  15. you are kind of correct but its not quite that simple ... Bear in mind that the club cant just video it and stick it up on youtube, there are permissions and rights issues involved with putting it anywhere. As CD stated earlier, we will see what comes in the near future in discussions with Darren. we stand ready to work with them to create a separate site for audio/video but we simply cant do it without club buy-in as they hold all the rights and permissions and paying for those as a 3rd party would be a no-no.
  16. I believe a joint-venture site would be acceptable under the rules so long as you give the club 50 or 51% of the say. All ICT games are recorded for training I believe.
  17. You could be right. Bottom line is that he would not have lasted 5 years if he were truly crap at doing the duties that formed his job. He was a numbers man not a people man and until recently, the numbers looked pretty good. I have my own personal opinion regarding the negatives of his 5 year tenure, but I am going to keep those to myself.
  18. agree with that. cant argue with 9 goals, 6 points in 2 games !
  19. Bayne makes it 1-1 in the Pars - Dundee game ;)
  20. Dundee now 1-0 up on the Pars Raith now 1-2 up on Partick
  21. Just not good enough ...... 9 goals in 2 games (so far) but why oh why have we conceded 2 .... just not feckingood enough. butcher out !!!! [PS - that was sarcasm in case anyone doesnt realise - delighted with last week's result and happy we are doing so well today ...... the real test will be trying to do that next week or against the likes of Partick or Dundee ..... but as it stands right now, I am a happy chappy.]

  23. Personally, I would not be in favour of administrating that through this site. We already have a subscription option which some folk use and that helps with our running costs (as well as giving the sponsors an almost ad-free forum). I think CaleyD is correct - it is something that should be done through a body such as the supporters trust and where we would be happy to help in any such scheme is by displaying a "donate" or "subscribe" button that would allow users to click something on this site but pay directly to whoever is running it. PS - having once touted the "pay-a-player" scheme in the past, I have my doubts that a scheme like this would be long-lived. When trying to get the previous scheme off the ground, I had loads of interest from businesses and individuals who loved the concept but when it came down to asking them to actually part with the cash it was a different story. never happened.
  24. Does that mean welcome back MEE ?
  25. I give it 3 posts (will explain later)
