Not sure I would totally agree with that When Brew was first manager (04/05 - 05/06), a total of 44 league games, he actually started quite well then went downhill .... He won nearly 35% of his games in 04/05 but won under 30% in his 21 games in 05/06. When he came back to us in 07/08 he went a couple of percentage points better and won more than 37% of his games but that has dropped to 27% this year. When you look further at the stats, you also notice something that is quite interesting in terms of draws and losses. In his first stint as manager we drew 30% of games in the first season he was with us and 47% the second season which seems to show we did at least have a bit of fight and consequently his losses were less in number, and perhaps easier to swallow ... but since his return he has had a similar win record to his last outing with us but instead of drawing nearly 1 game in 3 (perhaps by fighting back) we are now only drawing 11% of games and losing more than 50% .......... and that is where he is losing the fans.

Yup - was given a similar piece of advice .... always thought the first step to recovering or learning from your mistakes is to acknowledge you made one in the first place ! If you cant admit to mistakes, then there is no way you can learn from them.

Brewster to blame?
not going to cross post in this thread, but my comments here: http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...st&p=151760 sum up my feelings on the matter.

A man finished
forget all the back and forth personal squabbles ........ The simple FACT of the matter is that right now his league record shows that he has so far overseen a league season where we have lost 61.11% of our games. Last season he oversaw a season where we lost 51.43% of games and he was sacked from DUFC by Eddie Thompson after winning just 2 in 28 games, something that prompted the late United chairman to apologise to fans of the club. In comparison, Sergei Baltacha "left" after losing just under 42% of his league games, Steve Paterson's worst season (01/02) saw us lose 38.89% of games, and Robbo left just a small way into 04/05 having lost 58% of his games (although in his case we were playing at Pittodrie in our first SPL season after coming off our second best season ever so perhaps he could be given some slack). Charlie Christie's record during his only complete season was to lose 36.84% of games so Mr Brewster's current performance as manager is quite simply THE WORST IN THE HISTORY OF INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE FOOTBALL CLUB .... and that is a FACT now go back and read that sentence again ... this timing pausing for half a second between each word !!!!! I don't care about all the internal politics ! I don't care about who is pals with who (or not) ! I don't care which "interested party" is trying to score points from which other "interested party" ! I don't care about Mr Brewster's personal life ! I don't care about Mr Brewster's rumoured strained relations with the squad ! I don't care that Mr Brewster left us before and then came back ! I don't care about all the dirty tricks going on in the back channels ! What i DO care about is Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club and as respectful as I want to be to everyone else's opinions, I would suggest that if you choose to ignore the current situation, or think it will somehow miraculously get better without some drastic action, you are sadly mistaken. I accept that we may not exactly be swimming with cash, and I expect our financial reports next year to raise a lot of questions. I also fully accept that we dont have a lot of options we can afford ...... but Eddie Thompson - as he was apologising to Dundee Utd fans for Brewster's reign at Tannadice - reckoned the relegation of his club would cost them close to TWO MILLION POUNDS .... so I respectfully ask the question ... can we (as a club and a fanbase) afford NOT to do something? Some may say I am being unrealistic ... I do not think so. At the end of the day, I am grateful we are in the SPL, I applaud the efforts of everyone who has kept us there for the last few seasons and that includes players, officials, and team management. I do not expect us to win every game, I do not expect us to be in the top six every year, but I do expect us to at least compete with other teams rather than lie down and be royally shafted week after week with the odd respite where we wake up and put in a performance. The players have to shoulder some of the blame for bad performances, but the bottom line is that the buck stops with the manager and if he cannot get guys who have previously performed for other managers to perform for him then he should step aside as he is quite simply not doing the job he is employed to do. As the signature (borrowed from Toronto FC fans) says .......... WE DESERVE BETTER.

A Little Christmas Game for you
Sorry Laura ... not in the mood for games so I am going to bring this one to an end. According to the club's official website, which of course should be up to date on these matters, the current board is George Fraser - Chairman Graeme Bennett - Director of Football Sandy Catto - Director David Cameron - Director Ken Mackie - Director Ian MacDonald - Company Secretary Mike Smith is not a director, but as you and I both know, attends many meetings in his role as Chief Executive, and Mr Sutherland, despite not being a director is of course our major shareholder and one who has control over the appointment of half the board so its perhaps not surprising that many see him as a board director (in everything but name)

A Little Christmas Game for you
Jay_7: you (and GJ) are correct with 6. You also named 4 of them correctly. However Mike Smith and David Sutherland are not on the board.

The MLS is definitely a good hunting ground ..... Rangers took Maurice Edu from Toronto and I had the privilege of watching him in TFCs first season, if Walter can get him playing to his potential he will be a star. Its expected that Marvell Wynne (a tough no-nonsense right back with blistering pace) will be the next TFC player to head to Europe and I think this year will be a big one for Abdus Ibrahim (nickname Ibee) a teenage "wonderkid" who looks tremendous. The same is true for most MLS sides, plenty of young talent which is starting to go eastwards, some decent 20-30 somethings and the influx of "fading" stars coming westwards ... its actually quite entertaining.

Would agree that Danny doesnt get enough credit. A few years ago we were bemoaning the fact that Grant was our only true product of the youth system, but now it appears there are a few "hot prospects" each season. We are always going to be a side that eventually loses at least some of its better players to "bigger" teams so its nice to see them starting to come through regularly.

Gawd Birdog, whats happening, thats the second or third time I have agreed with you today .......
-
Is Barrowman our worst ever signing?
On the contrary Birdog ..... I think many have responded to this thread and backed the lad up in agreeing he is not the worst signing, and in many cases, theorising that all he needs is a few goals to gain confidence and show what he can do.
-
Do we have a winner?
got word today that I did indeed win a small prize ..... guess Charlie only phones when its the biggie LOL. Rather than convert it into $185, its going back into the club in terms of future subscriptions

Is Barrowman our worst ever signing?
Can you try to write normally? Some of us older posters have trouble understanding you !!! Cheers As for the question .... nope, dont think he is the worst ... we have some peaches for that award ..... Vetle Andersen for one, but here's hoping that he will find his scoring boots soon. Just remember folks ... Dennis Wyness is our goalscoring god and it took him a long time to bag his first few ......... no stopping him after that.

Personally, I feel the next two games are critical, especially this weekend's game which is the proverbial six-pointer. I believe Motherwell are in a false position right now and will climb the table and that leaves us fighting it out with Hamilton, St Mirren and Falkirk in the brown trousers department. If we can put some space between ourselves and those below us right now, then maybe, just maybe there may be enough wiggle room to test your plan. However, if we perform badly against St Mirren and Aberdeen we could quite easily find ourselves on the bottom of the table and in that circumstance, the board must surely have no option other than replacing him immediately. A new manager would then have some time in the transfer window to try and apply some fixes to the cracks that have appeared. Incidentally - IMHO, we are NOT too good a team to go down. If we were too good to go down we would be more than 3 points of bottom spot. I believe we do have the players to make that statement a little more true if we could get some consistency going, but right now, I would argue with it.

Welcome to the boards Robbo. It is nice to see you here and I am sure you won't get too much of a hard time. We have talked about this in the chatroom on a matchday for a few weeks now, but I would just like to congratulate you on your "open-all-mics" performance. We dont always get to listen to the actual commentary stream from ICT games over here due to media rights, so when that happens, its open all mics for myself and a sizeable number of ex-pats dotted around the globe. I and the others have enjoyed your obvious passion for ICT when doing our games, and also how you stick up for both Inverness and ICT when some of the others try to spout the usual stereotypical bull**** about the Highlands (like the A9 woes the other week, or the frozen pitch crap).

I can see where Alex is coming from ... Goalkeepers are "special" in some ways .... Clubs can get them on emergency loans outside the transfer window and such like ..... however, as anyone who has ever taken part in organised football right down to Amateur level knows ... you dont stick a name on the team lines until you have the paperwork clearing them to play.

Grassa is in an unenviable position ...... I do not doubt for a second his desire to do the best he can for ICT. He is and always has been a supporter of the club and an advocate for the fans (a comment I can base on facts). He, like many other directors have put a lot of unpaid effort into running the club and while it is true that he now draws an "emolument", for years he (and others) did it for nothing. When myself and Don met with him and Kenny, he was fully aware of what was going on on these boards and I have no doubt that this is still the case. Pages and Threads from this site are regularly printed off and passed around. Sometimes they receive nods and smiles, other times they elicit a quite different reaction. Knowing Grassa, I am sure he is torn right now. Despite what some might say or think about him, he is not a stupid man, and he must be well aware of how badly we are performing and how discontented the fans are at this moment in time. He is also pals with the manager and perhaps wants to give him the benefit of the doubt in terms of turning things around. He has a lot of hard decisions to come to in the next few weeks if things dont change and I hope he bears in mind that we the fans (and shareholders) elected him and his colleagues to act in the best interests of Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club and that is the only thing that should matter when deciding how we move forward and try to make sure we claw ourselves out of this malaise.

SFA Chief wants football shakeup
The SPL has just released a statement that reads as follows: DIALOGUE AT LAST The SPL today welcomed the willingness of George Peat, President of the Scottish FA, to engage in serious discussions on the way forward for full time football. Lex Gold, Executive Chairman, commented: ?We tabled our SPL 2 proposal back in August 2006 to secure, promote and develop full time professional football in Scotland. The concept of the introduction of a pyramid structure was also advanced by us at the time, with the recognition that others would be responsible for managing that process.? (See extract below). ?We now await the decision of the Scottish FA?s arbitration on our SPL 2 proposal, which has taken almost two years. That decision will help shape the views of our clubs going forward. Our Board will review the Scottish FA President?s comments next week.? ?Dialogue and debate amongst the Scottish football authorities is healthy and we welcome any opportunity, through the proper channels, to drive improvements in the game in this country. But we do not see any role for politicians in this process.?
