... strong on paper ... a game of two halves ... you can't get closer than that ... All Credit to 'oppositionPlayer' ... He hit it with his favourite left foot and finally, anything where commentators manage to use England and 1966 in the same sentence like ... England are in red, maybe a good omen as they wore red in 1966... maybe we should start a thread for the best comments ? I quite liked this one from the wee ginger tawt .... interviewer: "Gordon, can I get a quick word?" strachan:" Velocity" interviewer: "in what areas were you beaten today gordon?" strachan: "that big green one over there!"

Oh well, back to the drawing board ........ after a weekend being able to watch the Premiership both live and delayed without any mention of the SPL, I contacted Setanta to ask about the SPL coverage on the new channel ...... RESPONSE The Rangers and Celtic Supporters clubs (RSCs and CSCs) have the live rights to all the Rangers and Celtic matches. They simply use Setanta as a platform to broadcast these games, therefore if you want to see any of these games LIVE, you must go to a bar that hosts a CSC or RSC. We do show these matches delayed on our channel, but never live. There is an SPL highlights show on the US channel, but not on the Canadian Sports Pack. Other SPL teams (such as Hearts, Hibernian, etc) are sometimes shown live and/or delayed on the home programming.

I think Rory is getting a raw deal in this comparison .... Rory has made 11 starts for ICT and 32 appearances from the subs bench. As discussed at length in other threads, and therefore not needed to be discussed in this one, he has failed to impress a lot of fans when playing for the first team. However, as a few people have said in both the earlier threads and in this one, there is obviously something that those in the ICT setup and those in the Scotland setup are seeing that we are not or that is not being translated into SPL performances. He doesnt get into a Scotland squad just so that McLeish can claim he has named a player from ICT, he gets there because someone in that setup recognises there is a skill or ability there that they can work with. I hope he benefits from being named in the squad and training with the national team and coaches, I hope he uses this opportunity and the low estimation of some fans to motivate himself to do better at his club, I hope he does prove all of us wrong and then stick two fingers up at us for doubting him. Rory was touted as a huge prospect before he broke into the first team. Zander is getting the same treatment. Zander has started only 2 games and come on as a sub in 4 more so like it or not he would be a very controversial call-up for the U20 squad let alone the U21s. Every season, I get sent questionnaires by various football magazines (like 442) asking for predictions for the forthcoming season. One of the questions is always "who will be the youngster to break through this year" or something similar. two seasons ago, my answer was Rory, this season my answer was Zander. There is every chance we could be having the same discussion about Zander this time next season or the season after if he makes the breakthrough but doesnt meet expectations.

:clapping03: :clapping03: congrats to Rory for getting into the squad. I still stick to my belief that he needs to go out on loan or back to the reserves for a while to get his confidence back, but this call-up may also work in his favour. It is clear that someone, somewhere (or maybe multiple people) see SOMETHING in the lad, but unfortunately - with the exception of 1 game V Celtic - it is not translating into performances on the park in the SPL. I would also go along with what CaleyD said "I actually hope the lad goes out there, bangs in a goal or two and gives us all the two fingers."

perhaps because both Bayne and Mcdonald are in the process of coming back from injuries, because Rory needs to get his confidence back and because Niculae isnt match fit yet ? Wyness is still one of the most technically gifted forwards at ICT and there is no way we should be releasing him. I would agree with others that playing him as an attacking midfielder behind a front two might be a good option or we might see him form a good partnership with one of the other strikers once they are fully fit.

unlees you are at Gretna where you get a 5 year rolling one with plenty of holiday time :015: :015:

suggest you email the official site - they stopped giving us any information about this more than 2 years ago (when we were still the official site !)

ok - managed to see the highlights (legitimately) and it was pretty grim. However, I couldn't help focusing on Ross Tokely's shirt. Since he signed for the club, I have always seen him referred to as T-O-K-E-L-Y in any paperwork, teamlines, or indeed in spreadsheets or other documentation regarding the stats ....... so can someone explain this ............. "We are sorry, but this content can only be viewed by viewers inside the UK" .... and what makes it worse is that Setanta started broadcasting here YESTERDAY but will NOT be showing any shows where panel discussions take place such as SPL HIGHLIGHTS !!!!! screwed any way you look ! - off to lie down, can feel a rant coming on :008: need to talk to my waiter friend ..... Mr. P Roxy the Server ;)

cant see the feckin highlights - must be blocked for us overseas types again !

Maybe its me, but the generic links that people are posting do NOT show any video highlights ... plenty of links to audio or club pages, but none that seem to show video. sportscene site still not showing them either.

Is there not a danger that some of the contributors on here could become traumatised and finish up as serial killers if they have to read another final word on the subject? :001: :rotflmao:

Operator error I think. link seems fine but the game at that link is still last weeks. According to the copyright rules, they can make the highlights available on a Sunday but I am guessing they will not make it available until after the monday night game ... same as they did last week.

Fraser Tokely Caff Munro Hastings Cowie Duncan Black Rankin Niculae D. McDonald Subs A McDonald Sutherland - use him this time !!! Wilson McBain Bayne Wyness Ridgers
-
A very good question given that Radio Scotland specifically reported that CC would not answer questions on that subject.
-
While last week was dire - this first half of this match sounds a lot better
-
bright start from ICT, Niculae getting a lot of the ball, Cowie now booked. Gretna 1 up on Hibs !

There's actually a thread about that over on Pie and Bovril [HERE] ...... the suggestion is that it would take MANY MILLIONS to re-route the pipe as it is a national transmission pipeline with gas under far higher pressure than regular run of the mill pipes or even gas mains ....

A Wasnt the cost of the top ?100 - if so, it amounts to the same thing although if someone were to purchase lots of stuff in the shop and it came to over ?100 then they would be getting a better deal with 10% off. Forget the blame game and the screw up over the order (whoever's mistake it was) for a second, but in doing this, the club are being reasonably sensible here ..... half the vouchers will probably be lost or forgotten about and those that do use them will probably buy an extra ?15 or ?20 worth because they have this voucher to use up. There is also the fact that a ?10 voucher doesnt actually cost the club anything near ?10. Its retail value may be a tenner but when you exchange that for ?10 worth of goods, especially in the massively marked up football merchandise market, you will be lucky if the actual cost to the club is more than ?3/?4 and they will easily make that up on other purchases.

I can understand the logic, but a 3000 seat stand would cost millions and even if you did fill it 3 or lets be generous and say 4 times per season it would quite possibly take 10 years to bring in money to cover just the capital costs let alone allowing any of that income to pay for stewarding maintenance and upkeep. Lets also not forget that a 3000 seat stand is probably never going to be built opposite the main stand as there is a trifling little matter of a high pressure gas pipe underground between the stadium and the A9 that would make that impossible
