A Wasnt the cost of the top ?100 - if so, it amounts to the same thing although if someone were to purchase lots of stuff in the shop and it came to over ?100 then they would be getting a better deal with 10% off. Forget the blame game and the screw up over the order (whoever's mistake it was) for a second, but in doing this, the club are being reasonably sensible here ..... half the vouchers will probably be lost or forgotten about and those that do use them will probably buy an extra ?15 or ?20 worth because they have this voucher to use up. There is also the fact that a ?10 voucher doesnt actually cost the club anything near ?10. Its retail value may be a tenner but when you exchange that for ?10 worth of goods, especially in the massively marked up football merchandise market, you will be lucky if the actual cost to the club is more than ?3/?4 and they will easily make that up on other purchases.
  2. I can understand the logic, but a 3000 seat stand would cost millions and even if you did fill it 3 or lets be generous and say 4 times per season it would quite possibly take 10 years to bring in money to cover just the capital costs let alone allowing any of that income to pay for stewarding maintenance and upkeep. Lets also not forget that a 3000 seat stand is probably never going to be built opposite the main stand as there is a trifling little matter of a high pressure gas pipe underground between the stadium and the A9 that would make that impossible
  3. You enhance the stadium little by little and each improvement should happen at a time when the enhancement would bring value. No point having a 4th stand right now as we would fill it maybe 2 or 3 times a year maximum and it therefore becomes a drain on our finances as you still have to pay for upkeep, maintenance, stewarding etc. A 4th stand only really becomes a 'need' when we are selling out games throughout a season. Likewise with a scoreboard .... although a scoreboard does have benefits too. It enhances the fans' enjoyment by displaying the minutes played, perhaps instant replays of good attempts on goal (for the fans not the ref), team lineups, flashes up things like 50-50 draw winning number, adverts for centenary club or club events etc and quite possibly sponsor logos and such like. Again, it is a luxury until you actually need it or it can bring in enough revenue to be self financing. The one at Toronto FC is excellent but it cost a LOT of money. Infrastructure - this is where I would like to see a little money spent. Improve the car parks (and their stewarding), add a bar for matchdays, improve things like catering facilities (pie stalls etc), create a permanent club shop ... that sort of thing.
  4. totally agree
  5. when I received my set of accounts this week, ahead of the AGM, It was heartening to note that staff costs have actually decreased whilst staffing levels have increased. not sure if this is because of less bonuses last season or something else but it does suggest that the club administration have this under as much control as they can. There are many factors affecting attendances and each of them has some effect .... some of the effects are minimal, other could be significant - all we can do or urge the club to do is to try and put a good side on the pitch and make the idea of watching a game at the TCS as enjoyable as possible. In no particular order, here is my list of factors that I think affects atttendances. 1. Invernessians who leave the area to support OF or other teams. 2. 'Highland apathy'. 3. Cost of tickets/travel. 4. Location. 5. Merger 'refuseniks'. 6. Perceived lack of 'value for money'. 7. The 'experience' - over officious stewarding etc.
  6. but I will answer. We have very little control over the supplied google advertising and if there are illegal sites advertising with them then the SPL/SFA can contact Google to pursue it. Its the same principle that allowed us to relax our restrictions on youtube postings as noted a few weeks ago. We on the other hand were warned, along with just about every other football site a couple of seasons ago that we could be held accountable if we allowed the posting of links to illegal or pirate footage of games within the site. At that time we voluntarily added this restriction to our terms of service for the forums.
  7. Thats your prerogative - although it is somewhat rattle and pram like IMHO And your point ? You want to eradicate the principle of free speech in case his relatives get upset ? Surely they would jump to his defence if they heard criticism of him in the stadium or were registered on here and saw the broad spectrum of opinions written down on here. They certainly have that right and ability. If you actually read each posting slowly so that it sinks in, the fact of the matter is that the vast majority of posters believe he has something and needs to go on loan to get his confidence back. I personally don't deem it acceptable however the crucial point is that it these opinions, expressed by registered site users do not break any of the rules we have established over the last 13 years it has taken to build this site up. Racism, Sectarianism or the discussion of matters currently before the courts DO re-read my 2nd last post, my opinion is in there If you are referring to the website, I take it on the chin and consider the comments made before deciding on my course of action. In 13 years, I have been on the receiving end of a huge amount of professional and personal abuse, backstabbing, snide comments and downright nastiness. a lot of this has been public, but just as much has been cowardly 'behind the back' comments which have come back to me from real friends. If the criticism is justified, which some of it undoubtedly is, I try to learn from it. If it is unjustified, untrue or from someone I have no 'relationship' with or respect for, i tend to ignore it. you develop a thick skin doing this type of hobby. If you are referring to my professional life then I believe I am very good at my job. When I make mistakes or dont perform as i should, i bend over, take my boot up the @rse and try to improve on any areas where i failed or didnt come up to expectations. However, 99% of the time I do achieve my goals !!! Its easy to criticise when you are not on the receiving end of them. the quantity and content can be quite eye opening. I consider all comments that I read on this board, both positive and negative and your last comment gives me all the answers I need (or expected).
  8. I will not close this thread because as detailed above, I see no reason to do so. You can ***** and moan as much as you like, but if I do close it, I will get a ****load of emails crying foul or censorship. I have already explained why the other thread was closed. If you are fed up of viewing this thread then stop commenting on it and it will slip down the board and into the obscurity of page 2 and beyond .... exactly the same way as we have got rid of other threads in the past 13 years.
  9. I think most fans want him to do well - even those who are criticising his performance - and much of these comments are made out of frustration that we believe he can do it but for some reason he doesnt do it in the first team. Is it lack of confidence ? is it lack of effort ? is it lack of ability ? these are all points that have been made along with the view that CC and DP must be seeing something in training that is not translating into performances on the park. If he was utter garbage and never going to make it, there wouldnt be half the discussion that there is ... it would be "He's s***, get rid" followed by massive agreement but its because people want him to succeed and think he has potential that this thread gets so long. I agree with those who are saying that he needs to go out on loan and with Niculae and McDonald coming in, that would probably be the best thing for him. It would allow him to address any confidence issues in less of a goldfish bowl and give another manager (perhaps Pele) a chance to see if the problem is actually effort, attitude or ability rather than confidence. More importantly it would be better for the player himself as I would agree that constant criticism, whether in the stadium or on here, cannot do him any good. To be fair - he is not being criticised on that one performance. He has made a total of 43 appearances and scored 4 goals. That is unacceptable for any striker.
  10. Witch hunt doesnt come into it. The court thread was shut down because it is always dodgy ground when a topic is surrounded by legal matters. As i said in the thread, my initial reaction was to shut it down immediately but the Joyce-esque wordplay allowed it to trundle on for a little bit. This topic on the other hand is full of opinion about the performance of a player in last week's match (and in previous games) and therefore worthy of discussion.

    Club Nickname

The Teuchter Dome ..... The Humpty Dump --- where loads of big teams have a big fall ! or maybe we can start winning here and once again make it Fortress Longman !
  12. Dundee V Livi and Partick V St Johnstone look like interesting ties .... Peterhead V Killie also has a giant killing feel about it
  13. :clapping03: :clapping03: :clapping03: was going to close this thread when I first saw it but the comments have been witty/sarcastic rather than over the top. However, I think the last post is a good way to bring it to a close !
  14. Our strike force was blunt last week so I would expect him to make his debut, possibly alongside Dean McDonald or maybe Bayne.
  15. the same way you always do ! :015:
  16. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: Adonis ..... or maybe .... wait, no, I think it must be this one ......
  17. no :sherlock2: ...... :015:
  18. we do not allow direct links to pirate footage of SPL games. Furthermore, we will also delete links to sites that provide/display additional links to pirate or P2P sites !!! [please note: we are unable to monitor what individual users converse about privately via personal messages. ]
  19. You make a very good point, one which I had not considered. Any songsheet would not technically be a CaleyThistleOnline document. However, as we would be hosting it for those who wrote it we would have to consider the content when making a decision on whether we would be able to do that. I personally dont have a problem with most swear words but I am sure there are those that do, especially if they have younger kids. As this site can be viewed by kids and adults alike then I would be a little wary of certain swear words appearing in full. It might be an option to produce the songsheet with offending words asterisked out - I am sure most people would figure it out if you left in the first letter. might that be an acceptable compromise ?
  20. With him having his own website and Deano acknowledging that the first thing he did when he heard of ICT's interest in him was to surf the net for info, seems we have a couple of new players not scared to embrace technology. Hopefully Marius can now have someone translate his site into English as I am sure none of us are that hot at Romanian even if the online translators do sometimes produce some humorous results !!!
  21. If there are to be songsheets then we are more than willing to put them up here in word or PDF format for people to print off. Almost everyone must have access to a printer and even if a few dozen folk printed off 3 or 4 copies each it would probably be enough.
  22. I never thought I would ever type these words, but I support Rangers 100% on this matter. The fact that they have their own well documented problems with sectarianism is no reason to brush off legitimate complaints about racism from other opponents nor should it mean that other teams can get away with it. If Beasley or other players have been subjected to racist abuse then UEFA have to deal with it in as strong a manner as they will hopefully deal with Rangers (and any other teams) when they show their sectarian leanings.
  23. If we are going to lose the opening game of the season, then I would far rather it was against Celtic or Rangers rather than the likes of St Mirren, Falkirk, Gretna, or Motherwell who we absolutely have to take points from at home. Having said that, from the video footage I managed to see on the day of the match we were pretty cr@p !!!
  24. ...and it will. like many 'redundant' threads, it will stop getting posts and slowly slip to the second page of threads ... once there the next step is obscurity !
