Probably Celtic or Rangers

It is indeed possible alimci I saw a decent performance when I visited in April (the Kilmarnock game) and my biggest memory (other than the goals) was how Brewster basically cajoled and encouraged Imrie through it. He seemed to be telling him what he wanted him to do and where he needed to be positioned etc and the player was listening. That of course was also the day Imrie broke his duck. I left the game feeling a little more impressed with how Brewster was quite obviously showing some leadership/mentorship to the player and how the team had played. It doesnt make him a great manager but maybe it is a sign that he does have some potential if we stick with him ...... I also spoke with a number of friends, some who come on here, some who do not, and as you do, you dissect all that is good and bad with the club's performances or the rumours that float around. I heard a few little factoids those days that made me take a step back and hopefully see the wider picture. If we had been hammered or as you say if it had been one of the insipid away performances then I may have had a different viewpoint altogether or may have softened my stance a little less ! The away form kind of puts me in mind of Toronto FC this season ...... undefeated at BMO Field (P7, W5, L0, D2, F10, A2) and playing some great football but just cant do it away from home (P5, W1, L4, D0, F7, A14) where the performances have been - at times - atrocious.

I would also recommend changing the IP address of the router to something else in the 192.168.xx.xx range or the 10.xx.xx.xx range and of course the password so that anyone trying to do nasty things to your network at least has a tougher job !

Cant really add much to what Jay_7 has said other than to mention that a lot of the new (HP) PCs we are seeing coming into our IT department for evaluation actually have some internal USB ports so you may even be able to fit the dongle inside your pc leaving the external ports free. I would definitely go USB rather than PCI although that is my personal choice. Having said that, your new PC will likely have in-built wireless anyway as its pretty much standard these days. As for router security agree with Jay_7 there too !!! In my case, I also add a couple of additional pieces of protection too. I use the router's interface to restrict the range of IPs given out to only as many computers as I have in the house as well as using mac address filtering to only allow the mac addresses of the wireless cards of each PC to obtain an IP.

What 250,000 quid will buy you in New Scotland...
Scotty replied to Canada Bob's topic in General Nonsense
Yeah considered Slingbox Bob but problem is I dont really have anyone whose TV I can monopolise and I see little enough of it these days anyway that I struggle to get through the stuff i record on the PVR ! When you say MYP2P i take it you are referring to MYP2P.eu site ? I can say with fair certainty that the football they broadcast certainly infringes copyright in most countries not sure about anything else but its a fair bet that the rebroadcasting is not entirely legit. In the absence of any SPL coverage over here I have been known to toddle along to it on certain days and the quality is decent enough. We do however remove links to this site during the season :004: -
and the Italians are 1 up on France too ......

OK, in the spirit of removing some of the negativity from this thread (my own included) ..... lets just be thankful we didnt end up with these designs from the Errea catalogue ....... AXEL !!! PARMA !!!!
-
Thats the problem. I really don't like it at all, but its not really going to stop me buying one :008: :015: I think a lot of people will fall into that category. The more I look at the photos, the more I think "I dont really like it ... but it IS an ICT shirt so I should !!!" and when I next visit I will probably also make the trek to the Club Hut to buy one.
-
yes, i do remember that. The new strip was almost identical to a drawing you did but that fact was never acknowledged !
-
IMHO anything would be better than Errea - with the notable exception of that Hull City one. Errea designs are pretty much of a muchness with other strip manufacturers but the simple fact is that quality and sizing are abysmal. and lets not even go there with lead times and deliveries that the club have had problems with for years. I have numerous Errea produced ICT tops and although the labels all say they are the same size, every one of them is different ! With Errea, I need every inch in the 4XL top because of the "italian design" yet my Toronto FC top - supplied by Adidas - is only 2XL and fits wonderfully, feels like a quality piece of kit and has lots of room to spare ..... This is one of the things that makes me shake my head about the club .... I just hope that if we have indeed signed a new 3 year deal with them that a) Delivery lead times have been resolved b) Quality and sizing issues have been addressed c) Designs are carefully chosen (not this year obviously !!!) Going back to the whole positive PR mentioned in another thread .... how difficult would it be if the club were given 4 or 5 mock-ups to choose from that they fired them up on their website and invited comments from fans or a vote to decide the new strips ... Its so simple to do yet fans would not only feel that the club wants their input, but the club would also stand a chance of picking the design the fans liked most (and would therefore buy more). Initial comments about this design seem fairly negative !

could have been worse .... Hull City's infamous "Tiger Top"
-
dont like it. Home strip should be red/blue vertical stripes. we can vary the width of stripes or give more prominence to one of the two main colours in different years but I personally think it should be stripes all the time. Away strip can be anything we like but I have liked both the black/red we have now and the white/blue we had before that. EDIT: Poll Added !

GlebeICT - showing your North Americanism ..... I will change the title to New Strips :004: for anyone who doesnt know what he is talking about .... http://www.caleythistleonline.com/index.ph...08&Itemid=1

At the end of the day, Brewster is the manager, regardless of whether some of us like that or not and no amount of moaning or groaning is going to change that in the short term. He may not be the best coach in the land but equally, a lot of what went on last season off the pitch was not in his control. I went from 100% anti-Brewster to "undecided" based on the differences between what I read on here over the last year and what I saw with my own eyes (and heard) when I was in Inverness in April. For me it was all about points of view. I heard some alternative viewpoints of certain stories that had perhaps clouded my judgement and those came not from anyone at the club but some well connected people who I trust. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about Brew, and I am not going to tell anyone they are wrong as its their opinion and they are entitled to it. However, when one side of a story comes out, I would suggest to some that they seek out the other side of it to get a better perspective. That is something I lost sight of and something that moderated my viewpoint when it came back into focus. I want Brewster to succeed because that means ICT will succeed. I also want our board and our DoF to succeed because that also means ICT succeed. And I want them all to succeed at the same time as that keeps everything running smoothly which did not happen last season. However, when I think they are getting things wrong, or when I think political decisions are being allowed to affect the footballing side of the club I will criticise and criticise loudly as I have cared passionately about this club since the day it was formed and will continue to do so long after some fans and officials/employees have stopped doing so. I agree with a lot of what CaleyD is saying .... ICT seem to be at a crossroads at the moment and if we are honest, club and fans alike are torn between what the next step should be. Part of me would like to see us ask Marius to extend his contract and use his reputation to attract more players of his calibre to the club. We should also not forget our other international player and make the point to potential signings that we do actually have two current international players. If we could do this succesfully (attracting players i mean) then the end result may be that we are top six material on a regular basis which in itself will make us more attractive to potential signings. However, the practical side tells me that to do this we need more money coming in on a regular basis so that we can compete in terms of wages and that means more bums on seats and more innovative marketing/merchandising ideas or we will just fall into a financial trap that others have. The less risky option to take would be to cash in on Marius and use a sizeable chunk of that money to improve the squad more modestly but that too brings its own risks. It may not be as risky financially but as we have seen in the past, it perpetuates the "wee team from the North" mentality and makes it harder and harder to attract players. We are not a glamorous club, and in comparison to most we pay low wages (but decent bonuses i believe), however most fans of other teams (even on P&B) have previously regarded us as somewhat of a model of how a smaller club should be run because we have taken this prudent approach. Personally, I am one of those who is torn ... I want to see us up there with the big boys, I want us to have players at major championships, I want people at TFC games to know who ICT are when I mention the name or wear my ICT baseball cap or strip to a game, I want us to progress ... but at the same time I do not want us to ever get into the financial mire we were in when David Sutherland became chairman for the first time and sorted it out. This is the sort of balancing act that our boardroom has to work on and we should not be letting the scales tip too far in either direction. I actually have confidence that they can do this if they can keep personal politics out of it. I do not like what seems like a near constant mentality that we are the wee team, that we are doing well for a club of our size or that we cant compete with the other sides outside the Old Firm. We have progressed exponentially over the last 15 years and this is due in no small part to the hard work of those we now criticise but I feel that at least part of that criticism is merited. We should not be letting any player dictate terms to us it makes us look amateur (and it is not the first time we have done this), we should not be letting boardroom squabbles manifest themselves on the pitch, we should make our commercial operation look more professional (portakabin!!) and one of the biggies for me is that we should not be continuing to have zero PR presence or capability surrounding the club. The club should have been talking up Niculae for these championships, it should have been the club taking the initiative that we did on here in dedicating the site to him/Romania for these championships, it should have been the club setting up a nice little PR exercise in doing the email thing, it should have been the club using his selection (and Richard's against Brazil) weeks ago - at the start of the transfer window - to position themselves as a good club and a club where players can come and succeed, **** they could even have used his own words to do this when he said something along the lines of "coming to Inverness resurrected my career". The club do actually do things right but that always seems to be lost in a sea of blunders because they dont seem to know how to publicise (note: not spin) the good things that exist at the TCS I am going to end this here as it is starting to feel like it needs to have a cover and chapter titles. I could go on for a lot longer about what I see as both good things and bad things at the club because despite the distance I am as passionate about this club as I was in 1994 ... and that is what I want people at the club to be too !

Did I mention the site would be down that day ........... :015:

I hope so Alex ... as I said "lets just hope its a language thing" :004: I am hoping to see at least one game this coming season and would like to think that Marius will still be wearing the #18 shirt (after signing a contract extension)

Think we are more or less on the same page starchief .... agree about Skelton. Imrie is raw but has potential, Paatelainen I am not so sure about. Have high hopes for Zander (under the tutelage of Barry perhaps) and the McBain, Black, Duncan, Cowie combo is pretty much what we had last year. If we do need to tinker with midfield it will not be as big a job as defence or up front.

To get back on topic ..... (a topic with a title I take slight issue with). As Niculae himself has said ... its not up to him what deal the club accept or turn down. The interview is decent but smacks of a player on his way out, especially with a noticeable comment in the past tense in the very final paragraph. Its all going to come out eventually but my own feeling on the matter is that if Marius does go it will not be a footballing decision rather a decision with its roots in last season's boardroom politics. NICULAE - Sunday Mail His Future: "I know about things but do not want to be disrespectful to Inverness. I have a year left and it will not be a problem for me to stay next season. But if clubs make official contact with Inverness it is up to them what they decide to do. I will wait and see what happens. I'm just thinking about the Euro Championships for now as I'm enjoying it out here." ICT Fans: "Marius thanked the Caley fans for supporting his battle and making his target of playing at the Euros come true. He said: "My work permit application was rejected by the Home Office and I had to make a personal plea. I told them I would get into the Romania squad for Euro 2008 if they allowed me to move to Scotland. It also helped that Inverness fans signed a petition. They eventually reversed their decision and it all worked out. I felt I did well for Inverness and my determination to play at the Euros paid off." ICT (and the horrible past-tense wording ... lets just hope its a language thing): "Niculae was signed by Charlie Christie and credits Caley with resurrecting his career. He said: "When I arrived in Scotland my confidence was low and I had missed a lot of games in Germany because of injury. But Inverness raised my spirits and made me enjoy football again. It was a pity when Charlie left because he was a good coach who had the players on his side. Craig Brewster is the same and it has been great to work with two managers who were strikers. I was happy with my contribution at Inverness. I hope to help the club to success but you never know what is round the corner."

I think it is mainly to do with the fact that other than Barrowman we dont seem to have any ! If - on the other hand - Brewster, Malky and Grassa are going about their business quietly and end up surprising us all in July then there may be a lot of humble pie to be consumed by many on here. However history tells us that this is not how ICT usually conduct business. I do however think absent friend may have a point in mentioning that CB is away right now. It has been reported that he is at the Euros for a week doing his pro license and Grassa was there last week so the quietness may have something to do with that also ! [rant alert] However .... at the end of the day we need a few new faces ... and should not be fixated on one player who has yet to prove himself at SPL level. I have never seen Barrowman play but 29 goals in division 2 whilst impressive does not mean he will be a success in Division 1 let alone the SPL. He seems to be jerking us around and basically saying he will sign for us if nothing better comes along. If that is his attitude then he can feck right off. We want ICT players here, ones who will wear the team colours with pride, not players who are only with us because they couldnt get anything better. If Marius Niculae - a good player who is trying to rebuild his international career - can talk fondly about ICT whilst performing on the European/World stage then we should be giving short shrift to some little upstart plying his trade in Dingwall who seems to think he is the next Ronaldo ! [/rant alert] Anyhow, enough of the rant .... went off on a bit of a tangent there !! lets review the squad ..... We need a keeper - Michael has no competition right now. We have signed someone to be #3 keeper but no #2 yet. We need one or more defenders. We have never adequately replaced Dods and all our other defenders "have their moments". Can Kerr/Duff/McDonald step up ... or will they still be there come the start of the season? I think we are ok in midfield - Royster, Duncan, Black, Cowie, Imrie, Wilson, Sutherland, Paatelainen is a decent crop and there are also Gillespie, Vigurs and Rennie who may be able to develop further. Up front is another dodgy place. Right now we have Marius and ??? - McAllister? Wood? Bayne? McDonald? We may cash in on Marius, McDonald has left or will leave depending on which story is right, Bayne allegedly wants to go south with the Pars and St Johnstone looking at him, which would leave McAllister and Wood .... no disrespect guys but not exactly the strike force that would strike fear into the hearts of lower division sides let alone SPL ones !!!
