  1. I could see Robbo as assistant. Allows him to stay in Inverness, whilst building his reputation as a coach to the board. It's also not easy to get back in to football, so better a coach than Orion's PR or whatever. Especially if, in Butcher's case, he'll probably not be there for years to come, or, with knox, he maybe looking to retirement sooner rather than later. Who knows about the money.
  2. I'm another who's happy with all three candidates. Or even a dream team of two from three!
  3. He should be playing the team to keep us up. If he doesn't there'll be a lot more players moving on than Black. Plus, if we got a chance to sign Wayne Rooney til the end of the season, would we turn it down 'coz he won't be playing next year?
  4. Heart of Midlothian would just change it's name to Hearts or something and continue on in perhaps a lower division, maybe at Murrayfield. There's no way a club that big and important would be allowed to just disappear. Trust me on this one.
  5. Yeah, whatever happened to Wally Smith and Lex Ferguson?
  6. I grew up in the Central Belt myself. It's strange how little Glaswegians travel. Even Edinburgh isn't done that often, whilst Dumfries and Galloway (beautiful part of the country) is rarely explored. Yet, when they do, they love it. Weird!
  7. I was so proud of him after that match where the Germans were collapsing whenever anyone went near them. In fact, I actually support England over Germany, so bad are there antics (also support them over Argentina and Uruguay - dirty teams - and Italy - a team of world beaters yet will play defensive and hold on to a 1-0 lead, no matter how weak the opposition). If Knox wants the job, then I don't think Dailly would object to coming in as an assistant. He'd have to realise the grounding he'd get there would be excellent.

Is there a link to this interview. I've always found him to be an interesting commentator.
  9. yes but look at the cash he was given at blackburn,he didnt do much at newcastle guys like dalglish might be reasonable at blackburn but a job at ict or similar where he had little cash he wouldnt survive Look at the cash Ramos was given at Spurs. Souness at Liverpool. And they didn't have to start from the Championship as it is now. As for Newcastle, Dalglish was given money to spend, then sacked a couple of weeks later. He was playing with someone else's team prior to that. And what happened to Newcastle after him? Impatient fans and chairman. There's no chance we'll ever know what he'll do at ICT.
  10. when you say reputation,what do u mean ? reputation for what? dalglish i would say certainly hasnt been a hugely sucessful manager Kenny Dalglish not a successful manager? Liverpool * Football League First Division o winner(3): 1985/86, 1987/88, 1989/90 o runner-up(3): 1986/87, 1988/89, 1990/1991 * FA Cup o winner(2): 1986, 1989 o runner-up(1): 1988 * League Cup o runner-up(1): 1987 * Charity Shield o winner(5): 1988, 1989, 1990, (Shared): 1991, 1987 Blackburn Rovers * FA Premier League o winner(1): 1994/1995 o runner-up(1): 1993/1994 * Football League Second Division Play Off o winner(1): 1991/1992 * Charity Shield o runner-up(1):1994/95 Newcastle United * FA Premier League o runner-up(1)1996/97 * FA Cup o runner-up(1):1998 Celtic * Scottish Premier League o runner-up: 1999/00 * Scottish League Cup o winner: 2000 * 1985/86 Manager of the year award * 1987/88 Manager of the year award * 1989/90 Manager of the year award * 1996/97 Manager of the year award Yeah, let's hope we don't get someone like him in!?
  11. If I was picking which players would become managers, Dailly would be near the top of my list. But not at this stage in the game. Start of next season? No problem. But not now.
  12. I'd be all in favour of Knox. To have worked so consistently with the people he's been with has to be a good thing. In fact, I'd be surprised if he was interested in the job. I'd be pretty shocked if he couldn't get a bigger job if he made himself available.
  13. Dodds? Darren Dods? Billy Dodds? Davie Dodds? Surely Maurice Malpas hasn't proved himself after two disastrous appointments?
  14. After reading a piece on BBC News about a big Subbuteo tournament in Scotland, I thought I'd indulge my boyhood interest in the game and look up a few teams and accessories ('the crowd and the dugout and the floodlights too'). There's the SPL, ok...um...where's Inverness? To make matters worse, they've even got Livingstone in there! Quick trivia question, name two songs about subbuteo. I see now you can even buy male and female streakers for that big match atmosphere!
  15. Why? Sacked by Saint Mirren after they won the Scottish Cup. Sacked by Aberdeen for winning the Scottish Cup and taking Graeme Souness' Rangers to the final day. Sacked by the new Dundee Utd chairman as he wanted a younger boss (Ian McCall who didn't fare any better). Sacked by Ross County after a mid-place position when he was asked to cut the size of his squad, including his assistant, for financial reasons. How many of those have been fair?
  16. His star's been on the wane for a while but I'd put a lot down to impatient chairman. I'd be in favour but I bet most folk on here wouldn't want him.
  17. I'd guess about the same. But it's only a ball park figure* *did you see what I did there? Ball park. BALL. 'Coz it's football. FootBALL. BALL. Ah forget it!
  18. Ok, not going to happen but what about Ian Stewart? Legend at ICT and did really well at Peterhead - where he was quite amazingly sacked. Such a shame he's not at a club.
  19. A failed Peterhead manager would do just fine.
  20. How has he got a much better CV than Smith or Strachan? Oh, you mean as a player?! In that case, would Gazza make a better manager than Mourinho? Bobby Moore a better manager than Alex Ferguson? Great player does not equal great manager. Arigo Sacchi never even played professional football, yet he can lay claim to be one of the greatest managers the world has ever seen.
  21. This is where league restructuring needs to come in. Teams like Albion Rovers, Alloa, Stenhousemouir etc etc are well served by both professionals and junior teams, whereas Stranraer is much more a community club. The people of Stranraer don't have the option of going elsewhere easily. Teams like these should be a priority.
  22. Couldn't see him leaving such an influential position at Celtic with the possibility of moving up for a precarious position with a team on the verge of relegation.
  23. Doesn't mean a good manager. Look at Bobby Moore, Paul Gascoigne, Chris Waddle etc etc. Whereas a number of other managers were average players at the very best, e.g. Walter Smith, Mourinho, Jim MacLean, Sacchi. The feeling is that talented players can struggle to explain what comes naturally to them, whilst poorer players have to spend more time listening to coaches etc to get anywhere. I'm worse than any professional, so I should be best of all. Something else to put on my application!
  24. Assuming Ossie's picking the team: ---------------------------------Esson------------------------------------ ---------------------------------Tokely----------------------------------- ---------------------Black---------------------Vigurs-------------------- ---Cowie-----------------------------------------------------McBain---- ---------------------Morais---------------------Imrie-------------- -----------Barrowman--------Rooney---------Wood------------- I know what you're thinking but Tokely will be encouraged to get forward at every opportunity. Esson doubles as the corner-taker to maximise goal chances naturally.
  25. Don't need to bother reading through it all. The telling quote is: He's just telling it like it is!
