  1. Not too bothered who wins but this'll be a close one. Rangers have no firepower if Boyd is dropped (which he will be), plus he's not on form. Likewise Celtic's only goalscorer in MacDonald hasn't looked on fire either. Celtic have the wingers, with some good workers in there too but Rangers pretty strong in midfield also. They both get pelters but McCulloch and Caldwell are talented defenders. Such a tight match. I'm going for...ooh...I just don't know... Tempted to say Rangers as they seem more cohesive in OF games even though very off-form at the moment. I can see McGeady or Maloney snatching it but I'm giving it to Rangers as I think Smith is the better manager. But very close. One goal in it.
  2. Losing some silly goals but able to score a few. This says to me, shut up shop at the back, then we should be able to sneak one up front. So: Esson Proctor Bulvitis - Munro Ross - Cox - Duncan - McBain - Hayes Rooney - Foran If Golly is fit, then put him in for Bulvitis. Proctor sweeping up with Ross and Hayes as wing-backs (though more wing than backs). Cox and McBain need to cover Ross and Hayes as they bomb forward. Pretty experimental but I think it'll get the goals in a one-off, whilst taking care of business at the back.
  3. Is Mihadjuks still looking for a club?
  4. What would be your back four then if no Bulvitis and Proctor, plus without Tokely, Duff and possibly Golabek? Djebi-Zadi partnering Munro in the heart of defence with Shinnie and, who, McBain or Stratford as full-backs? Is that an improvement?
  5. Shows how low we are when Duncan and McBain are our saviours. Central mid has always been my biggest concern.
  6. Scottish football is now on al-Jazeera Sports plus (subscription). If, like me, you're still waiting for the al-Jazeera Sports agents to finish Eid so you can get you viewing card, then there's free Scottish football on Abu Dhabi Sports 2. Arabic commentary though. Watching St Mirren v Celtic as I type. ART's lost the franchise, plus it doesn't seem to be on Libya Sport 2 any more. Al Jazeera Sports also get the English Cups and Champions/Europa leagues.
  7. I think it'll be Esson Proctor - Bulvitis - Munro - Golabek - Djebi-Zadi Stratford - Cox Hayes - Barrowman - Foran although it's not the team I would have picked, which would be: Esson Proctor - Bulvitis - Munro - Golabek Hayes - Duncan - Cox - McBain Rooney - Foran
  8. Not Inverness but I caught a plane with Sven Goran-Erikkson, who was with a player that looked a bit like Rino Gattusso but could have been some other swarthy looking player.
  9. Bet we would have finished second. We weren't up against Italy and Germany. We struggled against Norway, Iceland and Macedonia. Teams we are all ranked higher than. There aren't many of their players that would get in our squad, even though Scotland is nothing special. He also made some pretty poor tactical decisions IMHO, such as playing a defensive midfielder instead of an extra central defender against long ball Norway. I've gone in to more detail on this in my blog. Burley may not have had something to drink but he did allow the players to go for a late-night drinking session. I also felt the punishment for sticking two fingers up at journos (it wasn't the fans, it was so obviously the media) was too severe. Boyd did throw his toys out the pram but let's not forget that, despite an impressive international scoring record, Burley chose the rookies of Iwelumo and S.Fletcher above him. I don't agree with Boyd's decision but it doesn't take anything away from terrible decision making on Burley's part. Also, Burley doesn't seem to have learned from his mistakes. Smith and McLeish learned from Brown and Vogts by playing a good solid defensive style. Burley, like Vogts, tries to play a more expansive game. But the likes of our flair players like Commons aren't with Derby by accident. We're best when we're boring. Sad but true. I don't think in any way Burley maximised the squad at his disposal against pretty average opposition.
  10. It would also make Bobby Moore top drawer but he was rank. Likewise, Mourinho and Sacchi never played professionally (pretty much anyway), whilst the likes of Walter Smith was decidedly below average.
  11. McAllister should consider himself lucky to be offered the post. I can't understand why he was so connected with first the manager's job, then the assistant. Was pretty average at Coventry, then poor at Leeds. Ok, he was a great player but, if that's the pedigree, then why not have Andy Goram in charge?
  12. Thought he did pretty well at Coventry. Kept them safely in the First Division, whilst making a profit. I also thought both Brentford and Sydney were too trigger-happy and had bigger problems than constantly changing manager when instant success wasn't achieved. What if he'd left at the end of last season? His record would then say simply, got Inverness relegated. But how many believe it was his fault? Sometimes the truth isn't all that simple as just looking at sacking statistics.
  13. For me, the weakness is in centre-midfield. Sure, we have enough defensive midfielders in Stratford, Cox and Duncan. Maybe even McBain. But a good passing midfielder with an ability to support the front two? Cox seems shoehorned in to that role but I'd still have preferred an experienced player there. I'm not talking SPL standard but just someone of SFL1 ability that's played that position. I'd have kept Vigurs mind you for that role.
  14. I like Tokely there, so I don't have much of a problem with that.
  15. He'll be 34 before we can sign him, plus he's had a chequered history of being in and out of teams. I've always thought he looked a decent defender but hopefully we'll look more to the future.
  16. I agree 100% Scotty.
  17. Could it be: Esson Bulvitis - Munro - Golabek Proctor - Stratford - Duncan - Cox - Djebi-Zadi Hayes Foran i.e. Proctor and DZ as wing backs. Certainly seems like DZ's best position.
  18. Personally, with the signings they have made over the last two seasons, I thought Ross County could have the edge on us. Britton and Vigurs are two class acts.

Customers in TK Maxx pay the staffs' wages there too. As a customer, does this entitle me to pop in every second Saturday and shout abuse at the checkout girls for 90 mins? From bitter experience, I can inform you that TK Maxx don't tolerate that (spoilsports)
  20. What a great signing he could turn out to be for the Leith lot! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/low/football/...ian/8128849.stm
  21. Virtually all the Scottish teams out by August. But that's the point. For most, it was their first or second game. I'll wager Burnley don't beat Manchester United later in the season. Need to change the season to summer football if we are to progress in Europe. Aberdeen and Motherwell barely had a team when they played and Hearts are basically strangers to each other.
  22. If, as seems to be the consensus, that he would be found not guilty at an appeal, then the only thing keeping him in is bureaucracy. But it doesn't seem as though he would live long enough for an appeal. So the question is: do you let an innocent man die in prison due to bureaucracy?
  23. David Brent also appeared in some corporate training videos for Microsoft. My favourite line is: "27% of our employees (at Microsoft) are women." Brent: "I guess you need a lot of secretaries"
  24. Before you get too carried away with how wonderful you all are, that's you that is. The IT Department is always soooooooo helpful "Oy! No professionals!"

Please don't. Found it fascinating and it probably endeared himself to the fans.
