Pretty sure Byrne played a fair few games in midfield for Dunfermline. You can see him saying 'The problem with you Russell is you're too soft a tackler'
  2. Play to your strengths. And that's definitely NOT up front.
  3. ..or Paul Sheerin or McCaffery...
  4. ...or Steven Milne Sod it, let's just buy half the St J team!
  5. I'm sue I'm not the only one that was relieved to see the Accies up last time rather than St J. Strikes me that St J had a more complete squad with some crucial experience.
  6. He's still pretty young. I think his style of play means that it's more his later years that will see him come good.
  7. IF black stays i agree with this team yeah, wouldnt have too much of a problem with that either. Yes! What do I win? Nothing? :thumb04: For me, Black is essential. Doesn't matter if Hearts want to sign him or he mouths back at Brew. This one game can make or break us. He can sign on Sunday or be dropped for arguing straight after but not for this game. The money we'd get for staying up dwarfs any small transfer fee. It's way too important a match to think short-term.
  8. Give 'em a chance. We've been pretty heavily involved in the transfer market compared to most other teams. I doubt the investment actually means big transfer fees anyway. Who has them? I'll be disappointed to say the least if an established striker doesn't come but so far we've bought three SPL players and someone that so far has looked good in defence (ok, still only one game). It's none too bad so far.

Disagree with there regarding Wilson who I thought could be of great use. Morgan certainly was on loan to St Johnstone. Not too sure about his current status.
  10. It's not that. The lefts and rights are opposite, i.e. a team lines up 4-4-2 something like: ----------GK----------- RB---CD-----CD---LB RM---CM----CM---LM -------S-------S------ You had it as a mirror image. It's actually written from the goalkeeper's perspective as opposed to how it's written down, so Hastings is normally LB and Tokely RB. I wouldn't worry too much about it though.
  11. Hoo hoo! Excellent!
  12. I think you were looking into a mirror when you typed that.

Who was that masked man? (Bavidge is actually worth a look from what I've heard)
  14. I was looking at the Hibs team before kick-off. Besides the keeper, they've got a very impressive team. One midfield general and they could be on fire. Bamba's probably the big surprise of the season. Ma-Kalambay, van Zanten, Hogg, Jones, Murray, Johansson, Bamba, Rankin, Stevenson, Fletcher, Riordan. Subs: Szamotulski, Yantorno, Nish, O'Brien, Chisholm.
  15. -------------------------------------Esson---------------------------------------- -----Tokely----------Mihadjuks------------------Munro----------Hastings----- ------------------------Duncan--------------------Black------------------------- McBain------------------------------Morais-----------------------Vigurs--------- -------------------------------------Rooney-------------------------------------- Black has to stay for the most important game of the season. Vigurs on the left and McBain on the right where they did so well against Rangers (easy to swap around the attacking three if need be, i.e., Morais on the right/McBain or Vigurs on the left and centre as needs). Also easy to swap around where Morais is up front in a 4-4-2. Cowie dropped. Maybe coming off the bench will inspire him.
  16. Totally agree. Duncan's stepped up too. He's never going to be the greatest player that ever walked the earth but he's looking captain material at the moment with his commitment and never-say-die attitude.
  17. I think in a different system Barrowman can come good. But if the rumours are true of the wages he is on, we could have done far better.
  18. I'd take Michael Stewart in an instant. He's obviously got his problems but he can go very far. Can't see him coming though. Imrie has been one of the few plus points this season IMHO.

Seems BBB is is a wee crybaby. There are a few pro-Brew posters in here already, like Harry Chibber for instance. Don't recall them being banned. State your case and stop being paranoid. As Churchill once said, "You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life." (doesn't mean you're right of course)

    > Sure, most football fans would love to run their clubs and feel they may be tactically better than the Team Manager - but please accept, you're probably NOT. So when should a football manager be sacked then? They all have decades of experience. They all have participated in coaching at some degree before they became manager. Now, most have the certificates. Does this mean that they should be unsackable? > can we stop having totally unrealistic expectations What would you call unrealistic? That a team previously fighting for a top 6 spot is now below a team with very little SPL experience? To say nothing of the transfer fiascos that have gone on, > As for Brewster ........................... was in this position before and showed no signs of getting out of it. He was sacked and a new manager came in and improved the squad no end. > All I am saying is that DJS is a Driving Instructor, not a football man. He can state his views, but has no right to dictate anything to the Board. The Board also have no experience in football. DJS has probably watched at least as many matches however. > Let's all get back to supporting the club we love. Let's get behind the players and Manager, and let's start enjoying ourselves. If the fans thought a little cheer here and there was all the team needs, then they'd get it. Personally, I doubt the problems are so superficial.
  21. To be fair, he barely plays against the Celts and in Europe. You can say that's because he's not good enough, or, that he should be playing. I'm for the latter. Is Ally McCoist any good? One European goal to his name. Boyd's also scored when he's been given the chance in the international arena. If scoring goals is so easy, how come Miller, Lafferty, Darcheville, Cousin etc etc aren't doing it? Rangers need to beat the smaller teams and I don't see a strikeforce of Miller & Lafferty doing that. What I find strange is buying all those players after they crashed out of Europe and only now finding out they've not got the money. Did they bank everything on winning the SPL?
  22. I'd imagine we're just taking over their contracts. No transfer or signing on fee. Maybe even with Hibs paying some of their wages. Gets them off the Hibs wage role and means we've got some new faces with no commitment, just in case...
  23. Disagree
  24. I'd be surprised if Falkirk didn't start picking up points in the second half of the season.
  25. Um, not the only one - me in summer 1995! Thank goodness I live in the cloudy overcast climate of Cairo now
