  1. Falkirk , Killie or Midden in that order - We need to start getting points on the board but I reckon it will be the five games after the split that will make and break us.
  2. Whatever happened to walkie talkies ?
  3. :015: :thumb04: :018: ;) Well that could take care of Proctor and possibly Maguire as well !!
  4. A football fairytale ... that's life at Caley - courtesy of the Sun By ERIC MACIVER Published: Today CHARLIE CHRISTIE is the poster boy of football in Inverness. He starred in the colours of both Thistle and Caley before their merger. After that he became a linchpin for the newly formed side as they rocketed through the Scottish football ranks. A short spell at Celtic apart, Christie spent his entire career in the Highlands where he played more than 300 top-team games for Caley Thistle. Their rise from non-league football to the SPL is one of Scottish football?s biggest success stories and one Christie admits he is proud to have played his part in. He said: ?I started with Caley in the Highland League and I?m honoured to have played so many games for this club. ?I?ve gone from a part-time player to a professional to coach to first team manager and now to youth coach. ?There have been a lot of changes over the years and Caley have enjoyed tremendous success. To go from non-league to an established SPL club in ten years is fairytale stuff. ?It has been a gradual success and the fact we have been so financially prudent has helped. ?Stevie Paterson deserves great credit for getting us going in the early days and showing us what could be done. We went on and built on it. ?I was very fortunate to stay injury free as I have seen a lot of lads have to give up the game early. The emergence of Caley came at a good time for me and I was fortunate to keep playing until I was almost 38.? After a frustrating year on the Parkhead sidelines Christie had offers in England and abroad but his heart had never left Inverness and he returned to Caley. He is the star character in the Caley fairytale and this week SunSport took the Jags youth coach down memory lane to pick his all-star XI. He added: ?I haven?t selected any players from my days in the Highland League but I want to mention five lads who I always felt had the talent to go on and play at a higher level. ?They were Alastair ?Titch? Black, Billy Urquhart, Davie Milroy, Mike Andrew and Allan Hercher.? JIM CALDER: I played alongside Jim for Inverness Thistle and Caley Thistle. He wasn?t the tallest but he was a great shotstopper and a big character in the dressing room. Jim was a failed centre forward, it turned that out he was better at blocking goals than scoring them. ROSS TOKELY: I had more than one altercation with Ross on the training pitch but he has been a great servant for Caley. He came in at 17 and to make the right-back berth your own for a decade is something to be proud of. BOBBY MANN: He wasn?t the quickest but he more than made up for that with his awareness and superb range of passing. I?m quite sure that if he had been fitter he?d have played more in the SPL. MIKE NOBLE: A great friend from our schooldays, Mike was also captain of the club when we won the Third Division. He was a great reader of the game. PAUL SHEERIN: Peanut was good enough to play anywhere and although he wasn?t a regular full-back I?m putting him at left-back. His use of the ball was so good and he had such a cultured left-foot. BARRY WILSON: A great technical player with bags of pace. I always felt I had a good understanding with him, he was a player who got the crowd on their edge of their seats. CHARLIE CHRISTIE: People said I had a good touch and vision but I always felt I had a huge desire to win. I was a terrible loser and had a winning mentality. PAUL McSTAY: I was lucky to train and play in the Celtic reserves with Paul in the late 80s. For me Paul is one of the finest midfielders this country has produced in the modern era. He was also a real gent off the park. BARRY ROBSON: He was a great capture by Pele for us as he was a matchwinner. He had great strength and I?m delighted to see him doing so well now. He is a player who?s got better and better as he?s matured. DENNIS WYNESS: Denzel?s link play was a joy to behold but he could also score goals and he is still Caley?s record scorer. A quiet guy but popular in the dressing room. FRANK McAVENNIE: I played alongside Frank for Celtic in pre-season games abroad, and saw first hand how terrific he was. He contributed so much to Celtic the year I was there. I must also thank him for introducing me to Page Three girl Jenny Blyth!
  5. Lets face it - We had to get some money in to bankroll the new signings - Cowie's dosh may well serve to balance the books.
  6. Hook, line and feckin sinker :thumb04:
  7. :015: Yet another example of a numpty not being able to have a polite debate - and all that he can muster is personal abuse. That heavens I have developed into a more mature and non confrontative poster. And :D where exactly does it say muppets in my opening post - ya feckin muppet :P :D :D :021: :D
  8. No feckin chance - He is just a side attraction.
  9. Feck me - that is the first polite thread in feckin ages - and here am I agreeing with Hairy Chibber - thank feck Brewsters gone.
  10. Like you I didn't know anything about it... until now... :021: it was for season ticket holders tonight JB - maybe that's why you didn't hear.. :thumb04: :018: ;) :015: :D :P Take that ya old git PS - dont forget - car boot sale this weekend too !!!! Do you honestly think that we will get much for Johnboy ? Like 4ize I am not in the least surprised - What a feckin pity the meeting didnt take place on January 3rd.
  11. I can get that drift and despite what some of the numpties on here think - I would agree that there are many more questions to be asked but now is not the time. But I do seriously believe that a brief statement would go a long way to mend some of the broken ties which have developed between the club and the support. Would it not only bring back some "trust" if we enjoyed a wee slice of humble pie. Who knows - we may even be surprised by the rationale offered ? By being silent they are actually promoting their guilt.
  12. Now this is a good question as there may not be an instant answer. Butcher enthused about the Cellic performance and appeared to be suggesting that leading the line may be Dougies' favoured position. He is already a fans fave and has illicited differing reviews on his performances. He is another who has never really enjoyed a run in a specific position and role - and perhaps this may be a major reason for his apparent frustrating inconsistency. Personally I think he should be played in left midfield. He has the energy, the fitness and the committment to play anywhere. He played very well against Cellic but I suspect that Butcher wanted a front runner to constantly harry and hassle the back four - and he did it in style. But I dont think that he has the natural instincts of a goalscorer. I dont think that he has the knack of the movement and positioning of a forward - the latter can be taught but the former cant. I do think that he can better himself in midfield in the sense of positioning and distribution - his crossing also needs work on but he is evidently adapt at dead ball situations. Most of his goals have been scored from a midfield position. I feel that Foran is the natural striker and may be the better partner for Rooney or Morais. So is the wee man a stop gap or a budding striker ?
  13. Especially if it was a peace offer, home made and served by a builder.
  14. :thumb04: :018: ;) Steady on old boy - youll have a feckin coronary. But just for the numpties - Uncle Johndo will try to break this doen into simpler terminology. :015: Lets have another little look at the opening post children: " May I suggest that EXTREME pressure is applied by this forum, Boardroom Banter and the Supporters Trust to request an explanation of the events of the last month and an "apology" to the Supporters Trust and the fans in regard to the suggestion that they were going to stick with Brewster and that the fans were creating problems and were acting in the detrimental interest of the club. " So - Would the Board or a representative care to explain what has happened in January - in regard to the initial support of Mr Brewster and the provision of funds to him to buy new players - and then the decision to part company with him. So - would Mr Sutherland care to return to his statements to the media regarding the Trust and the fans - in the light of the club changing their tact and taking a route which was the one advocated by the fans who he criticised. So children - no mention of sacking the board - no mention of specific individuals - no mention of the signings - no mention of Butcher - no mention of the performance of Brewster. And the second rant was a request to return to a more open and honest communication with the support in a manner that would heal some wounds and go a long way to instilling a "togetherness" factor. Perhaps a banner saying - Admit your mistakes - You are only human - and eat some humble pie - would suffice.
  15. Firstly - I got a feckin 20% warning fer using the term "mercenary" :018: :thumb04: But once again is this not becos Brewster chucked out youngsters into the deep end far too quickly and didnt nourish them. Plus all the latest signings were "panic" buys and most of them are on six month contracts. I suspect that is one of the main reasons that we actually got them here. But if that doesnt add up to the tem of footballing mercenary - then what does - but that unfortunately is just football today.
  16. Well I did but some of your points needed expanding on. 8/10 though.
  17. Is the bottom line no that Butcher had barely a week to fill some holes - He simply had to go for players that he knew would follow him - to Inverness - but also players who had performed for him before. I also feel that Brews buys were brought on by "panic" and the fact that the fans had challenged the Board. Brew didnt always follow this logic but it was how he played them and how he treated them that was flawed not how they responded to him.
  18. Butcher is on borrowed time already and I am sure that he will be spending the next few weeks running his eye over the entire squad - training isnt always the best place to do that - matches are and I would be hoping that the squad at the moment are doing their uptmost to impress Butcher as it is either their lifeline or opportunity to challenge. The lack of goals is worrying but at least Butch will now have learned that you cant play Rooney and Wood together.
  19. Most satisfying replies - As a master in the art of smileyography - it is a well known fact that smileys are only utilised when the poster knows that they have no logical or structured response to offer. What a pity that the erselickers cant decipher the content and context of my posts. But again that is the essence of tunnel vision.
  20. What's Jim Calder doing these days ?
  21. Birdog - Read my posts again - I agree with all that you say and that was what I was trying to put across - Brewster has alot to answer fer but so do the Board. What total garbage - Where have I asked to replace the Board ? - I have asked for a public apology. Savage may have hired Brewster but Sutherland backed him and supported him when it was clear that Brew had fecked it all up. If they were unaware of the problems and clouded in the past - then perhaps they should be sacked - The dressing room problems were out in the open fer months. The last sentence is OK and that is why I feel that if the Board came out and made a statement that it would only help the cause.
  22. Loads of "ifs" there JB - Hopefully will all bear fruit - Of Course Butcher is a good appointment - I actually think that the Board have finally learned from the whole ridiculous chaos - Read my posts - It is about what went on before that I am harping on about. You should read the posts as well !! Brewster made a total mess of it on the park and in the dressing room - most posters are blaming Brewster outright - the Board backed him - didnt they ? They acted ?!! - They had no feckin choice - They made atotal erse of it. Signing 7 players was an act of face saving and club saving desperation - perhaps we shouldnt have got rid of so many or bought so badly prior to this window. All I am saying is that the Board have made a feckin total mess of the last 18 months. But thanks fer the accolade - I feel that my efforts did bring about change and it is nice to be heralded fer once. Again agreed - Read the feckin post - great business - and did they do great business before that ? Were you happy with the manner in which they conducted themselves ? Was DS correct in publically chastising the support and the Trust ? Have they not made several major mistakes ? Did we not have to almost go into the mire before decisions were made ? You need a chip implanted in yer tunnel visioned brain. :018: ;) So look at my two posts again ya trio of numpties - look at what i am saying and what I am asking fer. I hoped that the Board had learned some harsh lessons and they can learn from Butcher as well. They have ostracised themselves from the support and it is THEY that should be doing something constructive to repair it. And wouldnt it be nice if we had just a modicum of remorse publically proclaimed. Not much chance of that - or is there ?
  23. That wasnt a wind up - it is a feckin fact.
  24. I thought you thought the board were an apology? I always thought that the Board had the true interests of the club and the city at heart - I have had admiration fer many of them - and - to different degrees I still do - the original Board took us on an unbelievable journey - I/you/we are indebted to the Board of yore (totally) - BUT we were a "family club" - with a total sense of togetherness and a rather unique sense of honesty and openess. In the last couple of years it feels like individual agendas, egos, power bases, business interests and (yes) greed and inane stuborness have prevailed. Secrecy has been the by word. We have been deceived - we have been treated like eejits - we have been used as tokenistic prats - we have been recently blamed and ridiculed - and now we are being patronised. The present says that we were mostly right all along - that is not being chuffed or in a didnt I tell you sense - that is really out of sheer relief that we have outed the muppetry - we have taken on a Manager on the same planet as us. But it totally sticks in the throat that the muppets are sitting there in silence and potentially smugly thinking that Butcher has saved their bacon. When they apologise or simply repent - I will consider a truce - and every fan should realise that this is not about Craig Brewster - it is about the muppets who contolled him, got him to fire the bullets and put this club to the wall. LONG LIVE INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE - LONG REIGN TERRY BUTCHER - LETS GIVE THE TEAM THE FULL BACKING TOWARDS SURVIVAL - BUT FECK THE BOARD - Until they have the feckin guts to say"we were wrong" and "We are sorry".
  25. DEEP BREATH Ralph - BE CAREFUL - This could backfire.
