Motherwell were scared off Coyle after St Johnstone quoted a 6 figure compensation package. He has subsequently signed a contract extension so he'd cost us a fair whack

The only thing Brew has over Warnock is that we might be able to squeeze a few more games out of him as a player but that's about it. Pressley would be 'interesting' and would be the likeliest candidate if we were picking our manager by previous criteria. I don't think ANYONE wants Malpas. If IHE is right of course there's no point in anybody going to that meeting tomorrow night :rolleyes02:
  3. I did toy with the idea of including other names linked to the job but there were so many I just went for the 2 that seem to have been mentioned the most.
  4. Just a quick straw poll to see who comes out on top between the 2 most mentioned candidates so far
  5. From BBC Website.... Former Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has emerged as a candidate to be Charlie Christie's successor at Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Christie resigned on Monday citing the pressures of the job with his side bottom of the Scottish Premier League. And director of football Graeme Bennett told the Daily Express: "There have been a lot of names thrown at us. "One of them is very interesting. It is Neil Warnock, but as yet we haven't spoken to him." Warnock quit the Blades following their relegation from the Premiership in England last season. And the 58-year-old said: "I have often talked about managing in Scotland. "We have family up there and my wife has already said she would like to live in Scotland at some point. "I'm dying to get back into the game and if Inverness or anybody else want to talk to me then I would be more than delighted to do so. "I have not always been money-motivated. For me, it is more about the size of the challenge and working for people who have faith in me."
  6. Warnock certainly has bags of experience as well as a national profile and I'd imagine an extensive network of contacts
  7. Oh well, hardly a surprise, the old manager is hardly out the door and Smee is already switching his dislike to the new one. I'm scared I'll succumb to the dark side as well if either Brew or Robbo return :007:
  8. Neil Warnock's name was mentioned on the radio this morning - I wonder if they get there info from this website :003: Owne Coyle is my suggestion. Maybe he can bring that tall dude as well - Kevin James??
  9. Does he have much more experience under his belt though? How many games did he last at Dundee United? 30-ish was it of which he won 3-4?? I'm just guessing but CC and Brewster must have managed a very similar amount of games in total
  10. OK why do you think Brewster is the man for the job? You must have reasons? Do you not remember the dull football we played under him??
  11. Does anyone actually know what the director of football does?? It was interesting to hear that CC had resigned as 1st team coach rather than as our manager :024:
  12. If it was a choice between our ex-managers he'd certainly get my vote but I'm hoping our next managerial appointment will be a bit more inspired than someone from the past
  13. I'd like to know why people think Brewster is a good choice?? What exactly has he done as a manager since leaving ICT to warrant another chance. NOTHING!! Granted he had the team very fit. I'll also go along with the theory that had the team set up so we were hard to beat but we were also bloody hard to watch, especially at home. All our tactics revolved around Brewster the player and there was no Plan B. Substitutions weren't allowed till a few minutes from time and even then it was only like for like. :029:
  14. Disappointed to hear Charles Bannerman tell Radio Scotland that Brewster was the fans favourite to return :008:

Just saw the goals on North Tonight for the first time and it looked like Tokely & Munro were the main culprits
  16. democracy is wonderful, until we actually get it :rotflmao: For me, I guess I will wait and see what names are seriously in the frame before saying who my preference is ...... but as we are going down the blunderbuss route of mentioning as many names as possible and seeing which ones might be correct, here's a couple of additional names that might be mentioned ..... Hagi and/or Popescu !!! Believe it or not I think there names have already been mentioned :015: Hagi is manager of Steaua Bucharest now so I think it's safe to remove him from the list of candidates. At this rate we'll have more names than signed the Nculae petition :crazy07:
  17. Well said one & all :clapping03:
  18. I think it's fair to say that the likes of Terry Butcher & Paul Lambert are non starters. We'd never be able to afford the compensation there clubs would be after. The simple facts are that most decent mangers are in jobs already. So we are either looking for lower league Scottish managers, has beens that no one wants to give one more shot too or untried new managers :024:
  19. It'll be interesting to see who actually applies for the job. There could be a few hidden gems that no ones thought of. Well I hope so anyway :rolleyes02:
  20. Yes name names please. Surely this would have all bubbled to the surface long before now??
  21. How about Darren Dods as a player/manager - kill 2 birds with 1 stone :015:
  22. Surely the fact he made a poor Dundee United worse is reason enough to rule him out :023:
  23. Just add Colin Hendry, Richard Gough and Blobby Williamson and it's the same bloody list as the previous 2 times :023: No to all of the above
  24. Why would you have Robbo back? What exactly has he done since leaving that makes him the stand out candidate? Ditto for Brewster
  25. Totally agree. Neither's record since leaving ICT warrant a second chance
